I can't believe I just spent 15 minutes watching aluminum being polished... but I couldn't stop
Rain is just god pissing on all of us. HE WONT STOP THE XS650
That XS has come a long way, nice job Shadetree! You will have to bring her by!
Out of all the motorvlogger I like you're channel the best. You seem the most authentic and true to yourself. GRIND ON!
Looks great my friend!!! The finish line is near!!! Keep plugging away and we’ll keep watching!!! Can’t wait to see the” DRAGON SPAWN OF HELL FIRE!” rolling down the road. Ok I’ll let you stick to the dramatic commentary and kick ass bike builds. I’ll just sit here with the popcorn..
This build series is going awesome. The best part is the 80's montage music while you're polishing parts.
Start with 4 to 600 grit paper and work your way to 2000. Dont skip grits and dont chnge grit till the previous scratches are all gone from the last . wet sand 1000 and up. You wont need polish after 2k grit.
Vinny He is correct finer the scratches the smoother it gets should shine up nice ive done custom exhaust years ago
This is almost exactly what I was going to say. I do a lot of polishing if stainless steel at my job and this is how we do it. Also, use WD40 liberally to lube the sandpaper to keep it from loading up.
I’m a knife maker so as you can imagine polishing steel is kinda my thing. Vinny is 95% correct if you want a mirror polish 2k grit wont get you there, there will still be a haze. A polishing compound of some type will help a lot, I’d recommend green or white rouge. As far as a power tool is concerned I’d use a small air powered belt sander. The key as I’ve said before and as vinny said, TOTALLY remove scratches before moving onto the next grit no matter what. No skipping steps even if it seems faster..... its not. Alternating sanding direction by 45 degrees will help you see said scratches and some say it removes material slightly faster.
Looks like a real 60’s chopper. 👍🏼 😎
The culmination of two years effort!
I fuckin love the time lapses on polishing, makes me appreciate my own polishing efforts even more!
these vids are a little bit of happiness. thanks
This Yamaha chopper series motivated me to get a project bike. Just sealed the deal on a 2000 vstar 1100 classic that I’m bobbing out 👌🏻
Hell yeah! Highlight of the week when the chopperseries comes out🤘🏻
Josh, what a really good job you did on the front end! those headlights remembers me the Triumph chopper i built 30 years ago.(i am 67) go on, that bike is gonna be badass straight from the 70's.Vincent french fan.
Great call on the headlights and front end. The rake is spot on. I got to admit I was a doubter when you started this thing.
She's coming together nicely!
Hell yeah bud. Looking great. Can't wait to you see you riding the final product.
Diggn it brotha. All that blood sweat and beers are starting to pay off haha. I really like the old school double head lights. Very cool. Awesome job as always shade tree.
You did a fantastic job building an old school chopper.
Looks great.
You don’t need to polish ends of bars.
They will be covered by the grips.
Brother, this bike is looking fucking righteous! The front end and bars really set off the proper old school look, seriously killer man!
I had a 79 XS 650. One of the best bikes I ever owned. Went to a 1400 Intruder next and now I have an 03 Roadstar 1600. It's a great bike but a tad heavy. Still a Yamaha and a great cruiser. I look forward to seeing the finished product.
Hard to believe it was a basterdized cafe racer with a spray bomb paint job at one point. I've seen many moto vlogger build Series this one is my favorite. What your doing and the time its taken makes it feel real. No tv magic i built in a week bs. A real chopper being built in real time.
Something strangely therapeutic and satisfying about watching sped up polishing. You have spades of patience dude!
Can't wait to see her finished.
I like how you were bouncin back n forth from bike to bike.
It's incredible how much effort goes in to these bikes. Good vid man
Chop is coming along man. Keep it polished like that dirty pirate grin ya got man!!!!!!!
For removing the flashing and excess metal, I use a Dremel tool with a sanding drum mounted, or a small tapered stone. Does not remove the material as fast, but you have more control.
Can't wait to see the finished item!
Looking really good I love dual head lights on a old chopper
Looks awsome Josh... You have put alot of blood sweat and pain in the ass into it...👍👍👍👍
I’m enjoying this series way more than I ever expected
Just WOW, Nice job Josh. Lookin good.
Shadetree is my favorite motovlogger in youtube and i'm subs to almost all the big motovloggers! His down to earth approach, his friends, his honesty, his not in your face sponsorships...although I'd click on anything he approves off. Keep doing you Josh!
Beer and polish! nothing better to do in the Florida rain!
Oh my god! It’s a motorcycle!! It’s a beautiful thing seeing all that sweat and hard work take form. Congrats on the progress. I can’t wait to see the vision come alive.
All your hard work paid off !
Look at magnificent unicorn of a bike. Looking out to the distance anticipating laying some rubber and putting some miles down. Another awesome episode. The sound of pride in your voice at the end should give all of us regular weirdos the kick in the ass to get a project going. Father shade tree your the dude. I'm having one for you and the chopper tonight. Keep it awesome bromochacho.
next vid: 10 Hour deeply satisfying metal polishing montage by shadetree and 80's electronica.
Young man that bike is looking sweeter and sweeter every show you’re learning more and it shows
coming along good, that's bad ass that you are building your own bike
Those bars are badass. Keep up good work.
Diggin’ the stick burner!
The "Make the XS650 shiny again" series. Lol. Idk why, but watching parts get polished is super satisfying.
In those ending shots I got the feeling like the final iteration is starting to solidify. Can't wait to see what you do for paint.
Thanks dude!! I’ve got a couple ideas for paint, honestly I’m still not sure myself
loving the music, and the build too ha
I love the 80s montage music
The BEST update so far! Keep up the good work! AWESOME BIKE!
Man, all that polishing is a LOT of work! You're almost there!
10:01 Ol' boy left her hangin like a towel. Haha
She's lookin good. Now the rest of the details that will bring it all together.
I've been fixing up my first motorcycle for 3 months and I'm getting it back this week. It's an XJ650 which is the cousin to the XS650. seeing you work on a Yamaha as I work on mine made me feel like its all worth it dude
Cheers and keep it weird ✌
nice job dude. your hard work will pay in spades later. you learned a lot of new stuff you will use later.
The bike is looking phenomenal, can't wait to see your finished product!
I enjoy your polishing montages more than my favorite 80s movies!
Hey man one tool I use a lot for polishing that could help speed up your hand sanding process is a dynafile. Its basically a small hand held belt sander and if you use fine sand paper you can get a pretty uniform surface for hand polishing. You can find them on amazon or a metal shop supplier like air gas.
Dude it’s coming together so well. Super stoked to see it getting finished up. I can’t wait to see it get painted.
The chop is rad! Good work!
Looking great. Especially for having a hangover? HELL YEA!!! Run from that hangover by drinking beer for breakfast and get it done. 👍👍👍
For quite a while when I thought of choppers, it was that show with all the screaming. You are so much more relaxing.
Sniffles, could be the rain we are having down here, if you have allergies, or sanding maybe. Be careful riding that bike the first time, I bet the handling will be noticeably different.
Those are just some deep ass scratches man you just gonna have to attack it with some power tools n whatnots. Looking good
Looks amazing and the perseverance is inspirational to some of us. I have my own bike to rebuild after the crash Saturday and needed to see some positivity to give me the push to start getting ideas for how to redo our bike. Thanks for the great content! It’s helpful to the rest of us weirdos that question our own abilities!
Love this series Josh, thanks for taking us along.
Guy, you're doing really good. That's my favorite engine. Simple and reliable..
Nice work, it's really starting to take shape 👍
Built a 71 XS and never got the carbs quite right then sold it before it was done....sure do wish I woulda had more determination then...might have to get a new project, awesome series.
Love them rabbit ears. Bike is really coming together. Noticing a lot more confidence. No hesitation about taking that tab off to make the headlight bracket fit.
Head lights n bars are sick
Been digging your channel.ive been binge watching, great content.
Wow! Looks awesome. The front end with all the chrome is Dope! Love the twin head lights. From what the bike looked like in the beginning to now! I would be proud.
Lovin' it. Can't wait.
Each episode its looks better..great progress bro
Shadetree Surgeon, Nice Job. The XS 650 looks great. I can’t wait to see it painted and Jessica and you riding it. Great job Josh.
Man I've been having a crap week but this made me smile like no ones buisness it looks so good
Start at 600 grit and work up to 2500. Also keep all the paper you use on stainless just for stainless. If you use anything that's been used on mild steel with stainless it will rust.
I actually started at 120 and worked up to 2000, still had those micro scratches. I think I need a belt sander
I think 120 to start was too aggressive and probably what's up. A belt sander should get those deep scratches out then you can work on up. Going with the grain helps to. Stainless polishes like aluminum's badass cousin
Super cool! Looking forward to seeing this thing when it crosses the finish line. This bike’s gonna be a sentimental one for sure.
You are getting me so pumped to build my 1975 cb400f chopper!
I admire you and everyone else who jumps into these projects and goes through with it. Ive flirted with the idea of starting a project bike but it all seems a little overwhelming. Excited to see your xs650 coming along.
dude that thing looks so sick i want to get my knucklehead back together now!!
love your "Montage" music man, reminds me of those weird VHS tapes theyd show you at school hahahaha great stuff man im so keen to see the finished product
Coming together nicely! can't wait for the next video.
That front end is beautiful. Can’t wait to see Jess on it for scale. Such a rad bike.
I, built a 1972, Yamaha XS650 CHOPPER Hardtail frame I, removed the swing arm and cut and measure and welded a Hardtail frame in to place it streached the frame 7" more longer and I cut the goose neck and welded it on a 45° degree and added a 40 over springer front end still got more work to do to it
Thats awesome to see it really coming together, having been a bit of a hot rodder at one point i know how you feel with just needing to SEE it.
I think you're really nailing that over the top 70's chopper look too and i cant wait to see it painted and all polished up, its gonna be sick.
Anyways, keep up the good work man and thanks for the videos.
Proud of you.. What an accomplishment. Love this build. Gives me some hope of building something.
I wasn't seeing your vision at first but wow What a difference!! That thing is bad ass!!!😲👍👍
HELL YEAH!!!
She's really coming together...
Thats simply amazing man! Seeing you build this up! Eager to see it done!!!!
Use a file to take the casting lines out it'll take a while but you get so much more control than the grinder it'll save time later in the process. Good series man
Love those headlights really nice
Coming out Fricken' Awesome! I like the stacked headlights.
It looks amazing!!!
Beautiful job Shadetree! You know that you can open your own shop just polishing chrome and making choppers! Beautiful bike!
Looking really good!!! Nice job
Looks great so far!!!
It looks good so far!
love these videos man, your hard work makes me want to get sweaty over my own bike. Its looking epic you've come a long way from the cafe garbage racer it once was.
Hell yeah brother, the paint job better have a shit ton of metal flake!
Fuuuuuck yeeeeeaaa another build vid so soon. Looking good Shadtree. Keep up the great work my Florida brother. Much love from Alberta Canada.
Great stuff, I love that you don’t admit to being hung over, but you were! Awesome build keep up the excellent work can’t wait to see the finished project!
The 90s after-school-special music is great.
