These planes are the definition of super! They will be missed.
This video is not the conclusion of a normal flight, it is the document of the end of an era
The Era of real planes with a great personality
good bye mad dog
A wing without an engine. Love it.
In my opinion, engines in back is best!
I love aft fuselage mounted engines. New private jets still have it that way. The MD80 is the best narrow body jetliner ever built. Those JT8DS are bulletproof engines that are very reliable and a bird strike would not hurt them at all.
Makes me cry every time I watch this bros
It was a great aircraft. I flew several times in it
Will miss these old planes I enjoyed the video.
Great video mate! I loved the camerawork on this. I’m imagining people who took this flight not knowing until they got to the gate that it was the last MD-80 flight... I’ve liked and subscribed!
Thank you! There actually was one passenger who booked a random ticket and didn’t know this flight was special
There has never been a better or more beautiful airplane than the American "Mad Dog" MD-80. Thank you for your service.
So long old friend. 👍🇺🇸
I saw this flight on Flightradar24 all the way until it touched down. I shed a tear or two. I’ve never flown on a mad dog, and it looks like I will never will unfortunately.
Great video. You should be grateful you got on that flight!
Thank you! I'm very thankful I had the opportunity to be on this flight!
Great video. I'm gonna miss those cute reliable workhorses, the MD-80. Better than that lame bumpy 737 or A320. The Mad Dog will be part of our hearts forever
I dont think the Mad Dog is bad buttt, the other planes are still great like the MD-80
Great window shot of this birds final flight! Subscribed!
The MD80 is the best narrow body ever built. Comfortable seats, sweet sounding JT8D low bypass turbofans, very safe, and easy to service. The next best thing to an MD80 is an A320neo with seatback IFE screens.
Seeing this i also miss the 727s i loved flying on those to the MD80s i always enjoyed the landings on them and of course the flight it self
Jeb brooks was on that flight
No water canon salute?
Nope. Only when this plane later left ORD for Roswell.
The landing was so smooth i even thought he applied spoilers before touching down
They are set to the "armed" position during the landing checklist.
3:48 I can see that black mark on the wing. is it from TWA final livery??
Wow!! Look at the engineering on that plane.those wings don't even move .good bye Giant.we gonna miss you.for real!!the Mad Dog!!an Amazing state of the art plane
This should have been flown with the last TWA MD-83. Closing 2 books at once.
😢 thanks MD 80
Sad Dog-80. Instead of Mad Dog-80.
Ahhh... AA, even at the end, calling it the "Super 80".
The real nickname “Long Beach Super 80”
You know what's great about this flight? Everyone on board is having a fun time. That's what aviation was all about when the Mad Dogs first went in the air. Unfortunately, deregulation and so forth have made it into an Industry kind of like that of transporting cattle.
Where is the water cannon salute?
I'll be just like this when Qantas retire their 6 remaining *747-400s* in December for 787-9s.
rip Mad Dog
Dad to see these end
Why is there no water arch?
They gave it a water cannon salute when it left ORD for the desert, a couple hours later
Flag4070 oh OK
😭
