Thanks much for the tour. She's beautiful and functional, and very likely very fast. I'm sure some people don't "get it", but this looks a wonderful, modern, performance trimaran, and it's great that Rapido is making them available.
ita sporty and cool as it is, wood work is so old school in today's high energy and efficient finishes
One of the nicest walk through trimaran tours I have seen - thank you.
Great to hear your voice again and to also to gain your experienced insights on this design - so differences to Spirit!
Got my F-31 in Feb, '95. #6 US hull. That was a great boat and this one looks like a bigger version of the same boat. Love the AMAs that stay vertical to the water line. Lusting for one of these!
Very beautiful boat thanks for the tour
Nice to you guys still making vids. Love the rápido 40
Hey Jason, great review on this beautiful Trimaran.
That is an incredibly gorgeous vessel!
Thanks for the tour!
Love your tour of the 40 I would love to see tours similar of rapidos other boats 👍
Hey Jason, I think they need to let you shake it down and review its performance characteristics.
Thanks for the vid review! Good to see all the detail
Thank you great to see Jas ..
Very beautiful trim! It's s lot enough for two persons. I suppose it's so fast, like it's beautiful! Thanks for review.
BTW, Jason, thanks for the great review of the bow setup on this boat. I have a Condor 30 footer. The anchor setup is miserable on it. I had to cut my anchor line last year in an anchorage down in Mexico because of wind and wave, being single-handed, and sicker than a dog. So, this bow set up is very interesting to my mind. Thanks for that mate.
Thanks Jase lovely tri.
WOW so much headroom over both the beds... for a small child.
Great post my friend. I have dreams of building my own Trimaran...... 🌞🌴⛵️
Thanks Jay Spirit II ? Nice tour all the best to you both maybe catch up in Aus
Hey Jase .. just watched this vid as I like the boat ... and recognised your voice!... very good to hear it .. good to know you are well ... get in touch B
Blessings & Enjoy!!! 💜
Love your style, where are you headed next?
Have a great day
…enjoy.
WOW ...very nice
What a sexy looking vessel!! Stunning! Looking forward to touring and reviewing in a few weeks in Miami. NavalGazingatCampDavid.
Super boat 😊.
Beautiful boat. Love the sleek light looks and function. You were able to open drawers and lockers but couldn’t open the engine hatch? Would love to have seen that space. Im sure she salls quite well. And the forlding feature, great.
Well noted! Unfortunately the boat had just been on delivery so she hadn’t been cleaned up and we were asked to only film certain areas. I have seen the engine room and it was impressive with loads of room and well laid out.
Number One You Tube Channel. 'Sailing La Vagabonde' are about to pick up their new Rapido 40 very soon after leaving their Outremer 48 Catamaran.
SLV is getting a Rapido 60, which is more akin to an ocean racing tri. It's a lot of boat. Rapido 60 is about 3x the price of a Rapido 40.
@@LoanwordEggcorn Thanks For Setting Me Straight.. Fog-Horn-Leg-Horn.. I Can't Wait To See The New .60..
SLV crew would never fit into the 40. Good thing they are getting the 60. Still not the same amount of room a 60 cat would have though.
@@UKlelegirl It's not only not going to be as much space as a 60' cat it will have less room than the Outremer 55 and probably even the Outremer 51. I know Riley wants to go fast but I would've just got a bigger Outremer since they have 2 young boys.
Amazing tri. So glad it's finally out. But the camera work was making me ill!
Just another editing tip😉 In addition to moving more slowly you can also try to edit out most of the turns. We will still be able to locate where you are in the boat.
Great tour mate, there is an impressive amount of room aboard.
For a 40 foot boat, t'is not. Except for the Neals, trimarans are not roomy.
@@gregorydamario7977 Fair call and pretty obvious Gregory, I am coming from a position relative to trimarans, not Cats, if you love Trimarans and truly understand the performance level of these boats then you can appreciate they can achieve that level of performance wiht a great amount of room, these boats will glide past 95% of Cats with ease. You simply can't have everything.
How does the price compare to a dragonfly?
Will it rock and bang from side to side in a rolly ancorasge
Jason, thanks for the review. Did I blink and miss the engine setup? I assume it is in the lounge area floor access? As beautiful as this boat is....as much as they spent getting weight down...I would be surprised if this boat could compare to Spirit's performance. I love your boat and follow you for years. Wish you and your missus continued health and great adventures.
Hi Alan many thanks for the nice positive words I’m glad you have enjoyed our videos. Best wishes to you also and you are correct the engine bay was under the galley floor area and was huge I didn’t manage to get it all in as we were pressed for time.
Can you sail up a river that’s 4’ deep?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Just the boat for far east sailing, wonderful. Still prefer Spirit though.
I like the layout of this boat much more than the 60, much more practical and useable. It is likely an excellent performance boat, which is a highly desirable quality in a cruiser. Speed reduces your exposure to adverse weather. It reduces your need for provisions between ports and it has GOT to be fun! There a couple of things I do not understand/agree with. Why is there no netting between the bow hull and the two amas? That is a darn fine place to fall overboard. Catamaran's do it and they don't even have a central hull. The forward cabin is only ventilated if there is no rain and you are not sailing. Otherwise, all those pretty ports and hatches must be closed. Put a dorade on the bow. I'm in good shape and condition so I can probably get out of that "escape" hatch, but I am pretty confident the vast majority of people on this planet could not. That is a very small engine access in the cabin sole. I am certain I would not want to troubleshoot that engine in a rambunctious sea, or even maintain it in port or at anchor. If the engine blows and needs replacement, how do you get it out and the new one in?
Rapidos are still rather rare. I have not been on one or spoken to owners. But based on the videos, I would say that when everything works, they would be an absolute hoot to sail for short time periods, like three or four day weekends. But for cruising, I would need to know a WHOLE lot more than the fluff pieces available on the internet. They could be outstanding boats, but I would want to know much more than I have found thus far.
If you’re interested (but it’s a Rapido 60) sailing la vagabond just uploaded first look video at the one they are having built (hull#4)- shown in the factory setting. They did mods after sailing on another 60 before purchase/build. Very interesting tour and more to come ….. no mast. No windows etc. truly carbon layout
the helm?
Hy my Friends, Did you remember gili Asahan...???
When are you come sailing to our island again..???
Where is it built and how much it cost?
Weight sensitive... Lifestyle change from the old days where a boat was asked to carry a garage full of bits and pieces. Transition from self sufficience to well supplied marinas around the world. I think this boat crushes the circumnavigation mission. Rapid port-to-port. Folds up and fits in a monohull marina slip. Then go ashore and spend your money in the local country. Not so much the living in remote achorages for weeks and weeks. I like people, cities and culture so this would be an ideal answer for me. Would I travel long distances without stopping? Hmmm... Would i do a major cape with this boat? Hmmm... I would want to hear about the first few people trying cape horn in this thing. How strong is she?
👍
$600,000. At that price I'm not crawling thru tunnels & steering with a stick!
Weight?
Love the looks and guess the performance is good? Not withstanding, it’s not for me as I’m seeking a boat for extended cruising. The exposed helm doesn’t work for me (regardless of autopilot) and having the anchor locker located so far forward is not good (etc etc).
Come over to Krabi Boat Lagoon
This is one of my absolute favorite boats. I would like to see it with a tilting wheel style helm kind of like the SiriusWerft 40DS instead of a tiller setup. Kinda wish Rapido would have moved the settee aft and placed the nav station facing forward in front of the settee.
I guessing the "the nav station facing forward in front of the settee" can be arranged if you so desire and if you're willing to pay X amount of cash extra...
There would be pros and cons of both positions. Since the helm is at the back, having the nav station towards the back makes it nearer the helm. On the other hand, a lot of people use the autopilot to helm and would benefit from a forward view when doing so. So both have advantages and disadvantages.
The design is sort of between a performance/racing boat and a cruising boat.
Both would definitely have their place. I just personally hate tillers hahaha. The reason I would want to nav station that way is I think you could have a bigger more useful nav station that would also be great for pulling watch. All completely personal preference but I think it would be more of a cruiser style up vs a race style. I’m more of a cruiser.
@@nicholasgrogan3797 Tillers generally have much better feel, and most cruising is usually done under autopilot, so sort of best of both worlds?
Agree a forward facing inside helm station would fit that cruising style better.
Hi Nicholas, yah, I get your point of view. Do you own a tri? I have a 30 foot Condor. Trailerable, PITA to put together and tear down, but plenty of boat. When you go to a wheel vs a tiller you are going to a bigger boat, dah? You are going to a more intensive enginnering solution (which has it's own attending issues of maintenance and cost). You also realize quickly the costs of a tiller pilot vs a more complex engineering problem of a wheel pilot. You loose a lot of space with a wheel versus a tiller. You loose the feel of how heavy the tiller feels when you are not balanced with the sails...not as easy to pick up on that with the wheel. Personally, maybe it is financial, but i like a tiller set up much better than a wheel. I have no financial interest in my statement....but Pelagic is the best bang for the buck on this friggin planet for autopilots.
Wow, what for a dream, for ho likes speed, speed, and more speed! No way to compare to Dragonfly! Other category. The rapido project are aiming other gols, MAINLY the speed! That reason os caled RAPIDO!
now I got seasick...
Looks impressive but the interior is boring. Dragonfly with the teak looks so much more luxurious. I know weight is a factor but some veneers and softening of the bland white painted surfaces would make it more palatable for women.
Same price too. Wish the 50 wasn’t twice as much it would win over a bunch of the people considering either of the 40’ boats.
Tiny boat inside. Smaller than a 31ft monuhull.
@@TrimaranSpirit Performance trimarans. For fat condo-trimarans, see Neel, for example.
That is the smallest large boat ive seen.
I really want to have a trimaran and disappear into the sea.
ok, the design is debateable , the interior looks like a mess. Not very nice. Also the finish quality is not good as you could see for example on the draws that were opened.
Yeah, the Dragonfly 40 is a MUCH nicer design with better build quality. But it's also heavier and I prefer the deck saloon layout on the Rapido. Hard pick.
@@BilldalSWE Dragonfly has better interior design, but the Rapido is probably a much better value per performance. I like them both, but would probably get a Rapido.
@@LoanwordEggcorn Yeah, the Rapido is both faster and cheaper (built in Vietnam vs Denmark...) so obviously better value per performance. But when it comes to performance per comfort the Dragonfly wins. Especially the upcomming Dragonfly 40 Carbon Performance which will be 1000kg lighter than the regular version (thus close in displacement to the Rapido) and have a larger sail area. For me I'd take the extra comfort over a couple of extra knots.
@@BilldalSWE All valid points. The Dragonflys definitely seem more comfortable and nearly as fast.
The Rapidos are a bit more spartan perhaps due to their racing background via Morelli & Melvin designers (or just the design brief).
Really they have slightly different design philosophies, and of course it's good to have a choice.
I don't know if it's a valid impression, but it feels like Rapidos may be better suited to large ocean crossings, as that's sort of where they came from. The larger Rapidos are definitely intended to cross oceans quickly.
Dragonflys can cross oceans, but seem more commonly seen in coastal waters.
(And perhaps relevantly, the Rapidos started from the larger boats, while the Dragonflys/Quornings started from smaller boats.)
I have not compared bridgedeck clearances, or whatever the equivalent is called on a trimaran, but Dragonflys seem lower and closer to the water than Rapidos, which would limit the sea states they can comfortably operate in, for example.
The moment I saw a tiller steering system on a 40ft tri. I clicked off the vid
poor and not thought out interior
Finally, a video of a rapido trimaran longer than 2 minutes 😂🤣😅
