to help you not get confused
centroSOME => Spindles at the poles
centroMERE => Middle of the chromatids
+Cha Boi Could you explain what Centrioles are?
@@sydnei5626 *(1 year later)*
Centrosomes are microtubule organizing centres and essentially the spot where centrioles are. Centrioles, nobody knows what they do
A bound pair of centrioles make up a centrosome. The centrioles are the cylinders made up of 9 triplets of microtubules.
Thanks!
Some help with this:
Prophase: Prepare
Metaphase: Middle
Anaphase: Apart
Telophase: Two
Telophase is termination
you honestly teach me more than my teacher, such a lifesaver
Same!
i cant stress enough how much khan academy actually helps me understand content that i never seem to understand from any of my teachers. thank you so much!!
Why are people disliking his videos. It's accurate and you get a visual example. 108 dislikers probably just don't care for education.
Reza Nobari that is just ridiculous. His videos r just d best.
Reza Nobari well then dont watch it just leave
Reza Nobari let’s see how good you are.. stupid
Probably because he didn't explain lepotene zygotene pachetene etc
i think so
"Pass Me A Taco" stand for Prophase Metaphase Anaphase Telophase in order
Pea Mat or PMAT is also pretty useful
Propase-metaphase-anaphase-telophase.
I always memorized it by the word "Tampon" ^^ = Tamp backwards. Don't ask me why, but it has been stuck in my head for more than 15 years now.
pass me a taco, chief for cytokinesis at the end lmao
Pass me a taco cuh
Prophase metaphase anaphase telophase cytokinesis
Man, I wish the teachers were this good at explaining.
Khan my old friend, I have missed your voice, the new members of your crew are amazing too, but damn.. how I miss the founding father Professor Khan himself! Have a blessed Saturday mate!!!
is his name is Khan?
@@sunduskhan242 salman khan is his name
Wait 'till I tell my parents that a youtube video is more effective than a private education.
I'm really watching a video from 2009 right now
It's fantastic I'm paying my college to teach me and I'm not being taught but I come here and learn and it's free! But I just want to thank you to everyone in khan academy for making the lives of students easier and being so readily available. My appreciation is beyond words. Thank you so much!!!
I love wasting my time going to school when I learn more and better from these videos. Thanks for actually being a good teacher!
I remember watching this guy when this guy wasn't known. I was in 6th grade. Now I'm in college and Sal has just done incredible. Very proud for what he is doing.
dude, you saved my grade BIG time. I am no longer hopeless, thank you!!
you saved me in my embryology class! a whole medical library couldnt explain these processes as well as you did!!
You don't know how much you've helped me by explaining this topic ! I really was having a hard time getting this but after viewing this video 2-3 times, I think I'll do great in the exams! Thank you!
He got so sick of drawing towards the end lol I feel yah
Yes bc he messed up a lil … I’m glad I was following from the beginning lol
You speak with flare and passion for each subject that you make these videos for, thats what really makes you stand out to any other teacher in the classroom or on youtube. I'm halfway through the video, and motivated and entertained for the test that I have tomorrow. Things are really clear to me now, thanks to you.
Test in two hours. Thanks for being my study buddy. :)
His teaching ability is so extraordinary, and that this is such a complex matter and his teaching is in a way that is so understandable. “This short little green guy” and “this purple guy. Thank you so much for the help
Oh my god THANK YOU I am here cramming for a big test tomorrow and a light bulb just lit up in my head because of this video
thank you so much! you have no idea just how much this helped me :) please keep making these amazing videos!
This video (despite it being messy) is MUCH better than the "newer and better version." It is also a GREAT video and it really helps to understand the chromosomes and chromatids during meiosis. Thank you!
khan acadamy has been such a help with studying for my bio final
Saved me on the sexual reproduction, mitosis, and meiosis part of the Biology exam. THANKS! Now I need to cram a whole lot more. I hope I find all I need onyour channel.
I was hoping for the sub phases in prophase 1

@@Aschalew5 I understand the first part but what's that equal to?
If only teachers in school were evaluated on a standard like yours. Thanks so much!
you are one of the best online teacher i have ever seen .... thank u for helping me prepare for my test
Thank you so much for this. I am about to take the NMAT this November. I took up engineering when I was in college, and I think this channel of yours would really help me a lot as I go to med school. So, thank you so much for your help!
How did the nmat go?
@@sosweetman9752 I assume well
He is kinda cute, especially when he gets confused with the centromeres and the centrosomes ! Good video!
AAAAAAAWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHH& AHHHHHBHHHBHHHHHHHHHGH YEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
I have to agree..
@ㅤㅤღنورღ thats kinda weird idk

Thank you so very much. That was a wonderful description, and very understandable. I appreciate the time you spent to help me. I feel a lot more prepared for my test tomorrow. Sincerely, Tina Lynn B.
I have to thank you so much. I learned more watching your videos in an hour than what I did in the last two weeks in the class. All the information you talked about was on the test and I got an A. Thanks for your help!!!
Nice video. The good thing about his videos is I can practice my English a lot and at the same time I'm learning a lot of useful stuff like math, biology, history, etc. Thanks internet!
watching from the quarantine. my bio professor doesn’t even do video lectures. thanks, man \m/
Khan academy, I have followed your videos for about a year now and it has helped me so much. I have a first year BSc undergrad exam in a few days and your teaching is the best by far. You've got it spot on. Amazing! Thank you for your help. I'm confident of passing (touch wood). You correct your mistakes as you go showing how easy it is to do, you use simplistic language, its easy to the eye and ear and I think some people like to have a moan for moan's sake. Impossible not to learn from the net
YOU ARE THE BIOLOGY WHISPERER!!! I LOVE YOU AND IVE NEVR MET YOU!!! Thank you SOSOSOSOSOS much! You've helped me tremendously Khan Academy GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR BRAIN!!!
This is how I'm passing my final tomorrow. My teacher taught me nothing this semester
rebekah huebsch pretty much same
How did you do
Chocolate Muffin dude I have no clue I watched that 3 years ago.. graduated high school tho so probably good enough
@@beckers7601 wow it really has been a while😂😂
Excellent explanation......thanks
The Great thing about this video and your teaching style is that you explain the concepts of what we're learning, and leave the terms second. This is invaluable and i truly appreciate it. Thank you very much! :)
I LOVE YOU! I cannot explain what a great thing your doing. You are definitely born to teach, you’re better that 99.9% of teachers I’ve ever had. In 15 minutes of your videos, I feel more prepared for my exam than I did after a year w/ my "gifted education" teacher. ily.
Very helpful thanks! :)
Me here after 11years....👁️👁️
That's was some great explanation. It is the best meiosis I have been taught. Best of the 3
Thank you so much! You literally saved my life ( and grades ). Such a great video
CORRECTION:@1:46 It should be 46 chromosomes instead of 43.
Thank you
wow, bc everynsingle person cares. stop being cocky
alicia sheridan this is legitimate useful information as it shows that the 23 inside gametes is half...
great video, very helpful. There is one question I have. During your first overview of the difference between mitosis and meiosis (during approx. 2:35) shouldn't in Meiosis ,after the M1 stage, there be two diploid cells? These two diploid cells would then split to haploid cells?
thanks,
-kid attempting to pass his test tomorrow
Did you pass
I really appreciate your videos! I don't think I would make it through my class without them! Thanks very much.
I'm a visual learner and it always help to watch your vids when I'm confuse on things...big thanks to you!!!!
good job 👏👏😁
he tried to write "chromatin" but instead wrote "Ehauf"
I couldn't believe I ran into something like this on YT, I stared at my book for 4 hours straight trying to find the solid difference between Mitosis and Meiosis and nothing put it into these simple words and diagrams to follow. Thanks a million!
You saved my life! Final coming up and I thank you for this explanation. Keep doing videos like this pleaseee.
KEY TERMS:
1.Homologous chromosomes
2. Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase
3. Natural variation
4. Crossing-over
5. Centrosome
3. Genetic variation
6. Independent Segregation
imo.
But still it was a gr8 vid
Thank you! This is the only video that actually EXPLAINED it! Liked and subbed
thanks so much this video totally helped me out! This video is the best one here by far. I have been stuck for 3 days trying to figure out meiosis and your video clarified 100% all my confusion. God bless you for all your videos.
"Memorize the conceptio- the concept here, for testing"
Hahaha, I see what you did there... :3
Why can't you just be my teacher?!!!
You are a lifesaver!
It helped me so much. Thankyou.
Wow. I haven't understood meiosis since it was introduced to me in the 7th grade but now I do. Thank you so so much for this.
This was a well done explanation of the phases of meiosis, but the speaker sounds a bit confused and doing so you confused me on some of the parts as well such the explanation of the "Interphase" the speaker drew the chromosome in the shape it would potentially be in the "Prophase1".The speaker should have explaining as it is.
why are there 66 dislike????????????
you are awesome, thanks a lot for taking your time to teach us. i really appreciate what you are doing. you are one of the best people who knows how to explain science, and your drawing is great. thanks for you help.
I think the only way we can thank you for these great educational videos is supporting you with our donations. Thanks for all you are doing, I can't appreciate you enough
is t just me or does he keep calling centrosomes centromeres?
Nope I caught it also in the mitosis video also. Confused the heck out of me for a minute!
As-Biology tomorrow afternoon -_-
same xD
today!!!
I KNOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
Good luck guys
thanks, you too
I honestly LOVE this video as well as all your other videos thank you for posting this :)
This video was extremely helpful. Thank you!
thanks for confusing me with centromeres and centrosomes
well in the mitosis video he did a great job in explaning the difference between them and repeated It more than 10 Times so you shouldent be confused If you watched It,
you should say thanks khan academy For explaning Everything clearly,
and A note for the viewers (Keep The Difference Between The centromeres and centrosomes In a Paper next to your pc While watching this video because he will switch between the two terms after 16:16)
The only problem is you waste a lot of time in diagrams
Naznina sultana ahmed diagrams help understand content, you can visualise diagrams and images more accurately and faster than words
Lietothe 90 yeah but it wouldn’t take so long if he’d drawn them out beforehand
Its good that he draws them while explaining , it may be boring for some but life-saver for those who are not very fluent with the topic as it gives them some time to cope up ...
For someone who is both a visual and auditory learner it helps
Speed it up . CZcams gives u the option.
You are the only hope i have to passing this class, and i'm actually doing well!!!! THANK YOUUU.
These videos are amazing! Keep up the good work. Really helped me understand a lot of biological processes.
Thanks
😒😠 I have to watch this for school its so boring
It's actually helpful
Thank you soo much!! I get your explanation waaay better than my biology teacher's! Life saver literally ;)
Very thorough. Thank you so much. I have a test tomorrow. You explained it better than my teacher. 🤣
Wow thank you for the video. Watching this video along with reviewing my class notes has helped a lot.
Oh my, you really save my life coz I was totally confused by my school teacher's way of teaching this topic. Thank you soooo much for making this video!
I finally understand the difference between meiosis and mitosis completely! This is such a huge relief. Thank you Khan!!!! :D
Thank you so much Sal, I can now understand the difference between mitosis and meiosis very clearly!
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. This helped me understand a lot more than the textbook could.
thanks, you refreshed my mind the same way the teach would for my exam tomorrow
Now I finally understand the recombination process and where did the term "tetrids" come from, this video was really helpful; thank you very much!
+Hilal Elgargini *tetrads. :P
Jus tin
yes, sorry about that.
This is amazing! You really did a great job with this video. And btw, thank you for that confusion between centrosomes and centromeres- I used to confuse them too..till I watched your video :D Keep up the good work!!
i also do this every time , get puzzled between centriole & centromere!! nicely presented lecture. thanks.
Thank you, this really cleared my concept!😊
Thoroughly enjoyed this, very educational and helpful!
I always watch these to prepare for tests. Thanks.
This was very helpful! i have a bio test tomorrow and this cleared a lot up for me!
Thank you so much! This has been a lot of help.
i honestly dont know if teaching biology can get any better than this! fab!
That video was amazing I totally understand this more then I ever did I think I can teach it now.
Thank u I just read the ch and now and have an even better understanding of this
YOU HAVE SAVED ME TWO DAYS IN A ROW. Thank you.
thanx a lot for such an amazing video....had i not watched it....i would have banged my head against d wall!..thnku so much!
Thank u so much khan academy..only this topic was not prepared for mbbs entrance exam ..thank u so much..:))

Thank you, so helpful!!! And "easy" to understand!
Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. You are an excellent teacher and I love your drawings! :)
Fell asleep during my bio class, have a test on this tomorrow, thought I would fail, but not anymore. Thanks very much!!
Did u pass?
This Video helped so much. It sucks when your teachers have lessons on stuff like this ( like new stuff) on days when I'm not there...sick...
