Totally agree with you - ILY came out the gate with really nice diversity, but they haven't applied it to their boy dolls at all. They haven't even changed his eye colour!
The main thing that bothers me with the outfit is the puffy coat... with shorts? They did it on the holiday dolls too - sweaters and knitted hats with bare legs. Like... what's the weather at this park?!

Maybe they're going to Disneyland. So Cal weather is like that. I've lived in Southern California my whole life and I always see girls wearing skirts or shorts with boots and sweaters. And I know some guys who I swear don't even own long pants and just wear cargo shorts or whatever all year round.
Haha good point! This kinda outfit is rare, but exists in Sweden though. Just guys wearing winter outfits with shorts. I think they get too warm or something lol
To me it's obvious they chose Sven because the model they're reusing has a big nose and someone felt that Sven reindeer nose energy.

Why are we suddenly acting like fashion dolls don't have the exact same head molds in different colors? These companies aren't trying to sell male dolls. The fact that there are even 3 in this short amount of time, AND 2 fashion packs, is exceptionally impressive! What is often overlooked is that Disney releases pieces from these dolls in child sizes. I can't remember if they released any pieces from the Aladdin boy doll, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they released that coat, or that shirt, in children's sizes.

Reusing the same face mold for the ILY male dolls gives me flashbacks to being a kid in the 80s and seeing nothing but blonde, Superstar mold Barbies in the stores. I lived in a small city in Canada, and we hardly ever got Barbie’s few friends: my P.J. and Kira were precious. That is the main reason I stopped collecting in the 90s, even more than becoming an adult. Collectors are kind of spoiled now, so lack of diversity in any regard from a large company stands out.
They definitely aren’t treating the boy dolls right, IMHO!🧐
They said "here, ya want boys, we've got boys" and they're all the same 🤣 (I'm still getting boy Sven of course)

For the ILY dolls they only have a set cast of characters. They are all repeats in this second wave, just with slightly different hairstyles, makeup and different outfits/Disney characters for the second wave. Out of those there is only one boy character that they are reusing.
I think if boy dolls sold better they would probably invest in more than just the one character.
As for his character; Frozen is just One of the most successful franchises Disney has put out recently, they've already done Elsa and Olaf, and Sven is another lovable character from the movie, so maybe that's why? They might also be using existing merchandise that they sell at the Disney parks to make up his outfit. They've done that for some of the previous ILY dolls.
I'm going to assume they went with a Frozen character because of its popularity. I'm still bummed that they didn't choose a different character! LOL
I think that's true. Boy dolls, sadly, don't sell as well especially to the little girl demographic that the doll like is ostensibly made for. If the boys sold better you know they would want to make a variety. I really hope they make a few more boy characters. I have the boy doll from the Christmas set and I love him. I was a little disappointed with this new wave just having the same dolls with a little changed up hair. But otherwise I think they look good.

As a mom who raised a boy… they had no fashion sense at that “age” and he always insisted on wearing shorts even when it was cold! So the outfit makes some sense to me… 🙈😂 I’ve seen it first hand 🙈🙈 kids…

People Disney bound as all types of obscure Parks references like rides, minor characters, Park foods, etc.
It's a cool concept, but for a playline doll, I still think they should have gone with someone else. 🤷🏻♂️

I felt the same way about the character choice. Even for side characters, there are more prominent options to choose from. Olaf even, if they were so set on Frozen.
Fashion wise, I think he looks better without the coat, the colour story makes more sense with just the purple and grey combination of his accessories and clothes. I also don’t get the blue hair streak, I feel purple at least would have made more sense.

Would be a cool idea for them to make exclusive outfits for the dolls at different locations in Disney parks
They made fashion packs for Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, and Mad Tea Party.

I would have loved Sven as a fashion pack. I missed out on the beast but I have Villians from princess & the frog. I hope the next boy at the Disney store has a different head sculpt as well the 3 boys in Disney ily look way too similar. I just have the boy from the 3 pack. I would love to see his skin tone changed more too def too similar on that as well. I think they could get more creative with the hair too. Would love to see a boy doll get textured hair. Curls or braids something a little more exciting 🤞

I feel that using the same face sculpt wouldn't be so bad if they just gave them a different faceup? like, they literally have the same expression :/ american boy dolls always feel like a second thought :C I love boy dolls but I always end up looking more at asian boy dolls because they actually feel like they care for them

Hey Enzo, nice review! I would definitely agree that they should use a different head sculpt, but of course. We do hope that they would use a different character. I also agree that there are A LOT of amazing male Disney characters out there. John Smith, Li Shang, Prince Adam, Prince Charming, Eric, Naveen, Kristoff, Prince Philip, Flynn Rider, etc. I love their outfits. Gosh! I would start collecting these.

The Sven doll definitely came out of nowhere, but I don't hate him! I would love a Simba inspired doll or Scar fashion pack! Captain Hook or Hercules or Tarzan maybe...??

I like the new series, but it is frustrating for me in Canada that the Disney-made ones only seem to only be available to us online from Shop Disney and Amazon US. This means big shipping charges that aren’t worth it for me. The JAAKS-made ones were at Canadian Walmarts and Amazon, so at least I was able to get a few of those.

I can't believe i haven't seen your channel before! I always aim to have a 50/50 balance of male and female dolls and i can tell you're going to be a great resource for info! I didn't even know ILY had boys (even if it's the same boy in three outfits 😒) and i love that they have rooted hair

The girls are all so diverse and I wish we could say the same about the boys. The original is still my favorite of the boys and even if the sculpt was the same notably different skintones and hair textures/haircuts would make a world of difference

The Aladdin boy doll was really good and I like the beast fashion pack. But agree that using the same face sculpt for every single boy doll + all this mismatch fashion with strange colors is making me skip out on this one.
I love boy dolls when they’re given the love and detail they deserve but boy dolls seem like an after thought most of the time.

1/ Choice for Sven: I feel like they rant out of "creativity juice", because I guess people remember more Sven from Frozen than Kristoff and maybe it's more "marketable". Who knows, they might do Lion King or Tarzan at some point?
2/ Same doll/sculpt: if you take a look at the "girls dolls" it's the same thing, they use the same 2-3 molds within same wave and they don't create new ones for new waves. And since they made just 1 mold for boy, guess we gotta keep it until they really put some budget..
3/ Clothes: I'm as lost as you, I like the shirt and the jacket but altogether it's... a lot. xD
4/ I was wondering if you checked the hip-joint, if there's still the same "sitting issue" as the old waves or if they improved that part?

@@thee_junkdrawer basically if you wanna make these dolls sit like a normal person, their legs usually "pop off" (but you can pop them back in). The only way to have them sit is with spread legs.

Hey!!!! You just made me think of something- you are starting doll customs but what about trying a treat custom?! There’s an air dry white clay that’s fairly inexpensive like $7 approximately. I wonder if you could make a plate with a doll handle with a slice of pizza and then paint the pizza. I think it shrinks a little bit when it dries but you could make a couple different sizes to see which one fits best, and you could make whole pizzas!! You could make a lot of pizzas with that chunk of air dry clay ❤ you could make pizza in a pizza box, it could be fun, you can get creative, I wonder what pizza creations you could make ❤

Love the girl dolls I think they are super cute! I just wish they gave the boy dolls the same attention.
Starting with the face moulds the boys look like creepy puppets I think their eyes are might be too far apart and maybe less of a smile 🤔

They could at least (and this is the VERY least) given him a different eye colour. It does feel pretty lazy, it almost feels like why are they bothering with issuing another male doll, they could have just bought out the clothes as a fashion pack. I feel like they've been a bit lazy with the girl dolls this time around too, but it's less noticeable because obviously there are six of them and only one boy. I haven't seen Frozen but I have heard a number of characters names from the film - at no point have I ever heard of this one however! (Did the ears glow in the dark btw?)
As for "coloured bangs" - they never go out of fashion, bbz.

I have Sven and the Aladdin ILY boy dolls. Love them both but Sven is my favorite. Love his haircut and the blue streak. I live in Orlando and wear shorts with a jacket like him in the winter. I actually want to find clothes to copy his and Aladdin’s bound look to wear to the parks. 😎

Thanks for the review! I just ordered this one and the holiday pack, and I have the Aladdin doll from before. I'm happy about the new skin tone and hair color in this doll, but it really annoys me that the first two boy dolls look so alike. Like why?? I will probably not display the holiday one, not sure what to do with him (the holiday girls have some new great features though).

He's gonna be a no for me. When I saw him online I thought at first he was Kristoff inspired, then I saw Sven (?). Whaa?. I agree, odd choice. I like the hair color, but the blue streak ruins it for me. Also, same head sculpt, AGAIN. I have the Aladdin boy, and he's enough for me until they do something different.

I also don’t think the fashion makes sense nothing matches when put together. The jacket and shoes yes, the headband and shirt yes but not the rest 🤔
His clothes looks like were chosen by the Sims radnom generator which is not a good thing btw do they still have polypropylene hair?

They picked a reindeer instead of Anna's love interest?! That in and of itself speaks to how little they care about male characters. The Aladdin ensemble was a joke, it was clearly Abu inspired instead of Aladdin. They could have given him cool harem pants and a vest, but they went for just putting Abu on everything. There are so many awesome Disney guys with designs that would be so fun to translate into a casual outfit, I don't get it. Prince Eric would be so easy and could look so good. Hercules? HADES? They could do something similar to the Maleficent pack that was supposedly Aurora-inspired and kids could dress up their male doll to match. There's a clear lack of synergy and creativity for the guys :(
Edit: I wanted to give a shout out to Shadow High and LOL OMG for having guy dolls with actually interesting and unique hairstyles and designs. Unfortunate that the lines are both getting canceled/rebooted, but I guess we got several good guys out of them and that's more than most playlines would even aspire to achieve.

I love the glow in the dark theme HOWEVER, yeah I wish for more skin tones and head sculpts only because my sister and I wanna create mini versions of us Disney Bounding out of them and none of them really look like me. I will also say that I don’t like how these last 2 waves of dolls and packs focus more on wearing graphics/motifs or merch of the characters rather than actually dressing like them as the first wave of dolls and fashion packs did.
I also don't get the outfit. Before you mentioned it, I was thinking the same thing. Very strange combo!! And I REALLY wish they hadn't made the same doll three times! COME ON!!!

Enzo it isn't just you the Sven boy is totally mismatched there choice of colors are weird 😂. Enzo other doll collectors are complaining about the identical faces for both the boys and girls dolls. The Tiana doll from that line got short changed on her outfit too 😮
