  • Spearfishing Survival is back in Australia. This time we are hiking and camping along the south coast of NSW for some catch and cook spearfishing goodness.
    Using my spearfishing and foraging skills to provide myself food over the 3 days. I didnt really have an end point for this trip. But I have realised how much I missed my sugar bars. I will definitely include these on the next hike and spear.
    This is part 2 of 3. A 3 day hike and spear trip over some of my favourite coast line in Australia. On this trip all I have with me is 6 Litres of water, Soy, Wasabi, Salt, Pepper, Chilli Flakes, Tandaco Fish Crumb Mix and some Cooking Oil.
    Exposure to the sun, intense hills and carrying 33kg over long Sandy Beaches, dehydration and the cold all made this trip very fun. Day 2 features some fun in the water and I end up with a healthy feed. Something much welcome after yesterdays only meal of a lunch.
    If you like what I do chuck a thumbs up and subscribe for more content.

    All fish were of legal size and were speared for consumption, I have a NSW Fishing Licence and abide by catch size limits, daily takes and no fish zones. Over the past 5 years now I have made the commitment to no longer buy fish, so I only eat the fish i catch. Spearfishing is the most sustainable form of fishing on the planet, it is also the most environmentally friendly form of fishing.

    Always enjoy your videos mate, you are a good bloke.
    I went on a fishing charter earlier this year up near Lizard Island for a week, the captain showed me a new way to cook fish. Simply poach it in seawater, then when it's almost done pour the water off and add a little bit of butter and pepper, give it a crack.

    • @WetMammal

      I just eat it same day or if its cold enough will eat it first thing in the morning.
      Depending on the shot placement and the type of fish shot it might be worth gutting the fish if you plan to keep it longer, but absolutely bleed every fish.

    In NZ we just keep our boots on. I also have a pair of Shimano Crocs that are amazing for walking. Stretchy enough to even put on with booties if you have to tramp to a diving spot. Love your videos! I am recovering from a quadruple bypass, so have been watching a heap of videos...PS Are you not allowed to make fires?

    • @WetMammal
      @WetMammal  Před 3 lety +1

      Haha i would typically but didnt want to walk in wet boots for hours, ohh nice I’ll investigate. Glad thats gone well and hope its not too long before you are back out there, you can make fires and i do enjoy a fire.
      But i think for youtube being this close to major cities its better to showcase Leave No Trace so that some of these spots arent hit with multiple burn patches
