you are either trolling or very ignorant xande always goes to the choke as way to stop passing attemps. In fact, while most people today are addicted to sleeve control, xande always use collar grips as way to set up chokes from the bottom, which are very rare today. A simple check on bjj heroes shows that the guy has 39% of wins by points and 49% by submission Not bad considering he's one of the oldest in the sport and has 203 matches in total only at the black belt. At 36 years old he got 3 armbars from the closed guard in ADCC against younger guys. Plus he didnt tap to buchecha (much bigger and younger) , craig jones and gordon ryan who are both younger and do only nogi. That alone shows how technical he is .
