I love this bit so much. Now, whenever I get accosted by people like this on the street and they ask for a donation, I say, "No thanks, I gave at the office."
That joke is lost on me, what was the context?
Came to CZcams looking for this specific scene (after watching a George Harrison documentary). Ended up discovering that there's an entire channel dedicated to Hare Krishna in the movies that is called "Hare Krishna in the Movies".
Subscribed.
What a wild channel concept!
Those two are so funny and add sparkle to the movie!
0:01 RIP Gregory Itzin. Who played the great Charles Logan in 24
Buddha knows it all and he co es again and again to help. Hare Krishna
I just found out today that one of the Hare Krishnas is David Leisure, AKA "Joe Isuzu". Can't believe I never noticed that before.
You must have come from the radwood post.
@@riceburnter6982 no, although I did just check out that channel...I actually saw it on a channel called "My Old Car". I had to come find this clip just to see for myself. 😂
Makes me nervous the way they rush up to the characters like that 😅 I'd be running away
So THAT'S what Charles Logan did before he became a congressman.
A Hare Krishna pair stopped me in an isolated small town but I had seen this movie before. They were kind of amazed that I was aware of their religion and practices.
Wow! The first religious guy is Gregory Itzin, the actor who played President Charles Logan on 24. He looks so young!
He WAS young, Jack 🤣🤙
... I like the Isuzu commercial where Joe says something about queen Elizabeth to guardsmen and the guardsmen LOST IT🤣🤙
Could someone tell me why Airplane! had so much of this in the film? Was these people a big nuisance at airports around that time?
Yeah back then they used to preach at airports. They gave books at real low prices compared to book prices in the shops at airports. And the books were all about a specific Hindu philosophy/yoga
They don’t preach at airports anymore tho
the anti christianity movement was in full swing at the time
@@SargeantPrepper feels like it's still in full swing
Yes, it will be lost on people today but the Beatles and other musical acts really popularised spirituality among young Americans. Specifically it caused them to become massive hippies, many of them would convert to Hinduism, dress like Krishnas and bother people for donations at airports, train stations and other public places.
No need to put a "?" mark for Gregory Itzin . He is definitely him. It might be checked from IMDB. We were all young once :)
The red zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the white zone.
Don’t tell me which zone is for stopping and which zone is for loading
@@pottytheparrot310 Listen, Betty! Don't start up with your white zone shit again.
People may not remember this but back then there were many hippies around, people who would convert to Hinduism after becoming religous since the Beatles and other music acts popularised spirituality amongst young Americans. You would actually get people dressed as Krishnas asking for donations at airports. This reference will be lost on people today but thats what this was a reference to.
im so confused by this channel. do you only find movie scenes that include followers of this specific religion?
czcams.com/users/hkitmabout
Gee, I wonder what the of this channel is?
@@Skelly5962 huh?
@@hkitm hold on im confused. the channels name is hare krishna in the movies and that is the content you go on to show? explain this please.
@@texasguy5377 From this channel's CZcams description:
"A more accurate title for this CZcams channel would be 'Hare Krishna in Popular Western Movies and TV.'
"This channel is by far the world's most extensive collection of Hare Krishna movie/TV episode clips!
"Surprisingly often, in Western movie/TV productions, Hare Krishna devotees are seen or "Hare Krishna" is included in the script. This phenomenon is caused by the fact that the Hare Krishna Movement, which began in New York City in 1966, has made 'Krishna' a household name!"
Did the followers of hare Krishna have a nickname that people used to call them by? Im not sure but I've been trying to figure this out. I could be mistaken but it just seems like I've heard of another name they would go by
Vaisnavas.
You might be thinking of the "moonies". They would do similar shit apparently...
huh so thats why president logan from 24 is a nut, he was rejected by elaine
And so he became a car salesman. You can trust him.
Anyone who flew in the early 80s gets these jokes
: I didn’t come to pass flowers.
