- This week, in our video series The Home Primp, we set out to add more texture and colour to a guest bedroom using house plants - without spending a lot of money. Home Editor Alexandra Gater took on some DIY plant pot projects to create fun ways of displaying house plants. From a midcentury modern planter (that cost $9 to DIY!), planting a small succulent in a decorative egg cup to a hanging planter, she shows you gorgeous (and inexpensive) ways to display your greenery.

I adore plants! I have several from my mother and grandmother which is saying something as I’m 55! I’ve had them since I was 18!!! Many starts/cuttings have been given out over the years. Makes me smile to think there are some of my plants around the US! We own a small motel now and I give cuttings to guests all the time! So my plants are everywhere!! Isn’t that just the coolest?!! Tfs!❤️💜💚

Great content! But please be vigilant about which plants your adorable cat is chewing on , many like snake plant, and come cacti, succulents, birds nest fern are toxic to pets. Hopefully you can keep them higher up out of reach from their little paws :)

I love the small cactus ideas. Also I was wondering how expensive was Fig?..?..Plant you meant and what was the whole name of the plant.,I liked it. The caucus with the pearl looking beads is very poisonous and I know the one that is called a Money Plant or Mother in Laws Tongue. Stories are they were made into tea to get rid of overbearing or bothersome mother in laws. Can’t wait to see more OF your DIYS

All of these blew my mind! I've been wondering what the real life application of these tools looks like and you do all of them! This is whats been keeping me from having plants in my home because I dont always want to move them to the tub and soak them. Thank you so much!
I will be getting me a tomatoe cage to make a planter
You don't have to cut the top off. The top can be twisted off. Also, I have always heard it takes at least two years for the plant to bear fruit, but I have personal knowledge of a woman that planted several this spring and they produced. I saw it with my own eyes. Be aware that now some pineapples sold in stores have the very center of the top taken out so they will not grow. Be sure to check before the top before purchasing.

Please don’t let Marty eat the toxic plants I would hate for anything to happen to your cat is such a cutie and there are no antidote for many of the plant poisons so even rushing to a vet won’t help I just don’t want you to go through any heartbreak

Just because y'all saw the cat chewing on her bird's nest fern doesn't mean she chews ALL her plants. My cat does not mess with my Peace Lilies, succulents & Snake plants but she does chew on my Jade pothos therefore I keep it in a higher place. FYI Bird's Nest Fern are harmless to cats.
But the monstera the cat was chewing on is Toxic

Be wary of any plant in the lily family they are utterly fatal to cats it would take out their liver .....not pretty

They are. In fact, at least four other plants I saw featured in this video are, as well (basically, everything but the air plants and succulents). I find it hypocritical that she put the ASPCA website in the description and reminded people to check the plants they use around pets, while using so many toxic plants.

You can soak the leaves under water for 20 min and hang to dry or you can take a spray bottle and give them a little spray every other day

You can make you own plant baskets for a lot less. Check you tube. Your ideas are not that cheap at all. Put the curtain rod higher and hang longer to the floor curtains.
