Thank you for raising the hype levels of Ascendant! These videos really do help a ton, especially for print sales. Hope you enjoy the novella and sequels as well when you get a chance to dive in!
Out of curiosity, How many books are going to be in this series? It looks interesting.
@@stephenferguson9756it's going to be 5 books! The author is currently working on book 4 right now!
@@stephenferguson9756 There will be 5 in total. I'm working on the 4th right now
@@stephenferguson9756 The first three are well worth picking up. Great combination of world building, combat, and character development.
Eragon and the Inheritance cycle is the series I have read and re read the most in my life. Ascendant is the first series that has captured that feeling I’ve been looking for since.
I finished the first audiobook, happily enjoyed the first novella of Brode and chewing through the second audiobook currently.
Thanks for making a great fantasy series and thanks for the reviewer for suggesting your series.
Keep up the great content!
So happy that you mentionned Green Rider. It is one of my favorites and I really don't hear people talking about it often
Riyria Revelations is a series i almost never hear about and it is really good read and if you get into it there are prequels to the main 3 books and other prequels that show you how the world started
ENGINES OF EMPIRE MENTIONED, I really enjoyed its sequel in particular. Great book series
Glen Cook is best known for The Black Company and all the sequel series. But I think more people would enjoy the Garrett P.I. novels if they can't get into Cook's proto-grimdark style in The Black Company. Private detective in a fantasy setting focusing more on the detective work in a Nero Wolf kind of tone than the fantasy elements - though they do come into play quite a bit. Also very short, easy reads.
I love the Garret PI series! It's fun and quirky (in a non-ironic way, for once). I would say it's a Detective Noir style parody compared to something like Dresden Files (which I think is what most people think of when they consider magical PI books). 🤔
Recently finished the green rider series and it’s probably one of my favorite series of all time. They are so hard to put down!! Currently there are 7 books and I think the author has 2 more planned.
Started Green Rider last month and now currently on book 5 of the series 😆
Its soooo good! Throw down what youre reading now and pick up the sequel 😊
I just started the first book. Is the series complete? How many books total??
@@macreimoon8558 Thank you!
Codex Alera - by Jim Butcher is the most underrated series to me.
People judge it too harshly based off of the first two books and that’s so unfair.
I’ve read three of these!!! Dandelion dynasty, the mortal blade, the stardust thief, the weaver and the witch queen, Kaikeyi, city of stairs!😊
Green Rider is so good!! I'm nearly caught up, and I absolutely love the series, it was definitely one that got me back into fantasy! Such a good book series!!
Almost nobody talks about Demon Cycle by Peter V Brett and is such a great series; I've read 2 out of 5 books and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Keep reading! I've read those several years ago, and it definitely has an ending. Enjoy the rest!
Yeah, I plan to read at least one of the other books this summer...I just can't believe that the series doesn't get any attention on booktubes.
Ascendant sounds really good. Your description makes it sound very much like The White Dragon by Anne McCaffrey. I very rarely hear any Booktubers mention McCaffrey's dragon books, and I think they're worth reading, A great blend of fantasy and sci-fi.
Engines of Empire is one of my favorite epic fantasy and you are still one of the only youtube that talks about the book. I hope it picks up too I would like to see a tv show for this book.
Banewreaker duology by Jackeline Carey is classic epic fantasy from Dark Lord POV. It deals with a lot of heavy topics like stigma, xenophobia, disability. Darkhaven has turned into a safe haven for any unwanted person. Because most all of the Dark Lord Emissaries and even Dark Lord himself have been treated like crap by everyone around them. They have to look for each other because no one else will.
Interesting picks. I think I need to shout out The Lies of the Ajungo and The Truth of the Aleke by Moses Utomi, those novellas are absolutely nuts.
I finally finished the Winnowing Flame trilogy after hearing you talk about it. OMG I absolutely loved it. So good and I NEED more people to talk about it.
It's sooo good! It also read it because of her recommendation. I'm still sad about the ending, tho. Epic, but bittersweet.
The Book of Gothel was good, but I would recommend Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth for a good Repuntzel retelling. There are two time periods. It's about a woman exiled to a convent by the king, and she hears the story of Repuntzel from a nun there. So, it goes back and forth between the two stories. I really liked it!
Loved your reviews of all these books! ❤📚❤️ I added The Thorns Remain to my "want to read" list!
Absolutely loved The Sword Defiant
Yes, The Sword Defiant is Very Good! Looking forward to Book2!
The Sword Unbound is awesome too. There's some shockers mixed in with politics and power struggles. And again the sword steals every scene.
New standalones that deserve more love: "Kavithri" by Aman J. Bedy, great underdog story and "Spice Gate" by Prashant Srivatsa, the most transportative story I read in a while.
Thank you so much for suggesting the Ascendant. This is the first book series that has matched the enjoyment I got when I first read the Eragon and Inheritance series.
It’s great, you’re great and I’m so happy I stumbled upon your channel and your suggestions.
Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Ascendant sounds really good! I will definitely be checking it out.
Engines of Empire is AMAZING, one of the best books I read last year no doubt. The sequel is equally great, can't wait for the next one!
The Sword Defiant is such a cracking read. Definitely needs more love
Kevin Hearne’s series The Seven Kennings is a series I have heard no one talking about. It’s unique in its telling and has many threads that come together to tell a fascinating tale.
YES, more love for Green Rider! I've been a fan since the late 90s when the first book came out!
Your description of The Book of Gothel makes me want to read it even more. I also want to read The Thorns Remain. Your description makes it sound like such a beautiful book.
Ascendant is so good so far! I'm about 60% done and can't wait for the rest of the series!
Just coming to the end of Ascendant. Fantastic story and highly recommended. Also, the Green Rider series by Kristen Britain is excellent
Thanks for giving Ascendant a go! Hope you enjoy the rest of the series
The most underrated fantasy book is The First Binding by R.R. Virdi. It’s such a beautiful, poetic fantasy book I love so much. I can’t wait for the second book The Doors of Midnight.
Gareth Hanrahan is also a wonderful writer for TTRPGs. He’s done a lot of great work with Pelgrane press. His new campaign book for The Fall of Delta Green will be published soon.
if you can get your hands on 'pan's labyrinth' by del toro & funke
Love Green Rider! The series is wonderful! Especially if you love horses. And The Sword Defiant is on my TBR!
The Empire of the Wolf trilogy by Richard Swan. It's so good!
I have the first 3 Green Rider on my shelf. I will have to pick it up soon
The Book of Doors 🚪 Geat Under hyped book.
Loved that book. I wish there was a sequel 😊
I personally disliked it but the concept was interesting!
Yes! 100% agree! One of my favorite fantasy books this year!
Loved this book 🙌🏻
I loved this one too!
Just discovered your channel, really great recommendations, thank you for this video been looking for a new read for a while
So many of these weren’t on my radar! Can’t wait to check em out
Engines of War, can't wait. when? don't see it on orbit tbp
Great Video!
The Thorns remains love the story and beautifully written and the cover is gorgeous and incredible and i couldn’t put it down 🌼📙📙📖📖📖📙💐💐💐📙📚📖🥀🥀🤎💜🤎🌷🌷🪷💗💚🪷💙🩵🧡🫶🏻💛💘📚📖📖📚📚📙📙📙📙💐🌼💜🤎🌈🌈🥀🌷💚💚💚💚💚🩶💘🍄🩵🩵🩵🩷💙💙💙📚📚📚📚📚📚
I think you might like the Oaks Remain by Julia J Gibbs. Give it a shot. You will not be sorry. Fantasy in a world similar to
Ours. But very different!
The Moonworlds Saga by Sean McMullen would fit well in this list. I also like his Greatwinter Trilogy.
Kushiel’s Legacy by Jacqueline Carey would fit. It is loaded with adult content.
My copy of Green Rider didn't arrive in time for your Patreon readalong, but I have my copy now and found another channel that's starting a readalong on Thursday - @Dustybooksniffers - looking forward to it!
I read the sword defiant end of last year and I thought it was such a unique read
I love the cover of the book of gothel 😩
Gothel was really good, though definitely much more historical-leaning, with magical realism
I recommend you to read the book Mates by Sobers Rodrigues.its awesome.
Memory sorrow and Thorn needs to be top tier for everyone imo
Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn is my Favorite Fantasy Series Of All-Time! Period!
describing a book as slow has actually turned into quite the buzzword for me
DID YOU SAY SENTIENT SWORD
underhyped... guns of the dawn 🤭
I don't know how underhyped these book (series) are since they're both Tor publishings, but The Tiger's Daughter by K. Arsenault Rivera, and Dragonslayer by Duncan M. Hamilton. I haven't seen anyone talk about either of these trilogies, I don't know if that's because I'm not following the people who do or if they genuinely aren't well known. But they're both in my top fantasy series!
Adult fantasy- Winter warriors by David Gemmell.
BLURB:
When Emperor Skanda disbands his army, the pregnant queen takes flight, pursued by the Lords of the Undead. All hope lies with three ancient heroes, though discarded by the emperor, they are still Drenai Bison the giant, Kebra the bowman, and the great swordsman Nogusta - the Demon Lord's greatest foe.
I don't hear a lot about Illborn. I loved the first book and starting the 2nd one soon.
Thanks for the shout-out!
I recently read The Scarlet Odyssey trilogy by C T Rwizi. The first book has less than 2500 ratings on Goodreads. It is such an interesting African-inspired fantasy with a fascinating magic system that is lunar or solar fueled but also like coding. Definitely has some scifi elements. Love the characters especially Salo. Highly recommend!
age of uprising is so good. honestly annoyed i have to wait for the 3rd book. 😭
It's bizarre and ultimately self-destructive to humanity that something as important as the helping women give birth profession was ignored so much throughout history. Without them, human populations would have struggled a lot more. Their jobs are literally vital to humanity. It's part of the reason why advancements in the prenatal/birthing areas of medicine were so delayed.
I read Green Rider when it came out, so quite some time ago, I thought the first book or two were very good, but the series list me after that.
Engines of Empire!!!
Ive got 70 pages left in the sword unbound. Let me tell you, it is a worthy successor to the sword defiant
The Bound And The Broken… enough said.
Idk if I'd call ascendant Adult Fantasy 🤔 it's very much YA
The ageless idea holds I think. Have you read the sequels?
What's adult fantasy?
Fantasy that has adult themes in it.
Good video and hot woman
Oh Wow 😆
The book of Gothel love this book so much love this book so much the cover is amazing and needs more hype 🌈🩵🫶🏻🫶🏻🩵🌈💗🌈🩷🩷🌻🌻🧡💖💖🍄💞🩶🩷🩷💜🫶🏻🫶🏻🩵💜💗💗🌈💜🧡🩷💛💛🩷💙💙💙🌈⚡️⚡️🥀🌹🌹🥀🪷🌺🌞🌼🌸🌼🥀🌷💐💐📚📚📙📚📚📙📙📚📖📖📖📖📖
