it was great use of the siren in heavy traffic. if you leave it the same some people won't hear it changing tones and patterns gets people's attention and they are less likely to ignore or not hear the siren.
Wir haben Hörner für Stadt/Land auf vielen Fahrzeugen. Man kann zwischen beiden umschalten. Das klingt zwar nicht annähernd so, aber hat auch einen Effekt.
Theres another clip of an Ambulance driver on an emergency in Budapest. Right cracking driver too...like this guy who barely touches the brakes and just hammers the throttle! Love how the traffic drivers show respect too. Blocking emergency vehicles should be taken serious in EVERY country. Some asshole in Slovakia did that to an Ambulance crew.....and got sent to prison for 18 months.
I saw one European video where the med unit was on a divided highway. The side of the highway they were on had two lanes. They were running lights and sirens and the traffic literally parted. Left-lane pulled to the left and right-lane to the right. They left this beautiful "lane" for the med unit straight down the middle. I was in awe. What a beautiful sight!
Yes... it is really good to hear that high pitched sound in the middle of the night, in every hour, every day! I think everyone can notice the ambulance car without this high pitched alternating DJ sound effect! If someone can't move away they can't move away just because of the eardrum ripper DJ mixing either. The problem is that if drivers hear it but don't see it they don't know where is it ok to stop or move. So first everyone just freeze than try to find a good spot to move away. But for this to achieve the ambulance don't need this aletranting annoying high pitched sound.
this driver has his own youtube channel if you want to see more its "cstibor33" he was even in the news in Hungary for his youtube videos and driving skills.
He wasn't a co-driver really, he was just a doctor, well judging by the gloves at least. Playing with the siren is a standard protocol procedure, my guess just to ensure that you got heard by the other drivers. But yeah, I agree it does sound really awkward.
Well, it is an Ambulance right? Like there should not be any doctors? Sounds strange right? And he was wearing white latex gloves, the ones that Doctors always use.
That is the worst, most immature, most ridiculous abuse of a siren I have ever had the misfortune to hear. I hope that following this video the operator was banned from touching the controls until they grew the hell up. Of course the ambulance should never have been equipped with a bajillion different tones in the first place.
+Anonymous In Sweden we also have different kinds of siren sounds but granted not as many as this i believe, but the reason of this is because it´s much much more effective than just one siren noise with different tones.
In conspicuity research, the typical lesson is that simpler is better, as the more complex a signal method is the more time it takes an observer to process the information. A selection of two different siren tones should be perfectly adequate for any situation. One general tone for when the ambulance is traveling straight, and one to heighten alert when approaching an intersection or crossing to an opposing lane of traffic. The mish-mash of half a dozen tones doesn't do anything to increase the comprehension of other road users either to presence, direction, or intention of the emergency vehicle driver.
I disagree in this case because when they are changing the signal, you are constantly being updated that they are getting closer which is much easier when they are changing the signal when you do not see them. plus they are mostly changing it when they are aproching an intersecction or heavy traffic. The different sounds are sort of speak designed to be used in different situations. (intersection etc.)Watching some of the video again they might be overusing it a bit. Haha but clearly it's effective from just this example.
TheeBeastieBoy As I said, having two separate tones (i.e. a wail and yelp) for an intersection/urgent warning is useful. I agree. But more than two tones is at best unnecessary and at worst confusing to other road users. This video alone contains at least six (*six!*) tones: wail, yelp, phaser, two other distinctive tones, and I think even a hint of hilo at one point, plus the air horn on top of that. What benefit is a road user supposed to gain from that mess? In this video in particular there is little to no coordination in mucking around with the tones or using the air horn. Here in Australia all emergency services use only wail and yelp and it's no less effective. Remember a siren's only real job is to let road users know they need to look around and visually acquire the emergency vehicle so they can take evasive action. Adding in a bunch of random other noises doesn't accomplish anything.
+TheeBeastieBoy, sirens need to be very direct. The Dutch ambulances used to use a very direct siren that sounded with 3 different tone levels in a looped cycle, which was very effective until they were made to change to the broad range Hi-Lo used mostly throughout Europe.
Dj Siren, dropping beats like it's an emergency
Batchelli do do do do do do do

Why would there be a doctor onboard an ambulance? And how can you tell by the gloves? Do doctors wear different gloves to ambulance staff?
Well, it is an Ambulance right? Like there should not be any doctors? Sounds strange right? And he was wearing white latex gloves, the ones that Doctors always use.
No. Doctors don't work in ambulances. paramedics and EMT s work in ambulances. and no one should be wearing latex!
So there is one person who controls the Sirene sounds all the Time? I thought it would just be random...
Nice respond

Oh really? sorry then.
NP.
+Officer Alexis U're actually doing that so it sounds like whole convoy is coming with sirens.
Hahaha the police and other emergency services are just as overkill stfu
That's just sped up, not real time driving!
