Lesser Known Garbage: Chad Daybell's Children's Books
Vložit
- čas přidán 7. 09. 2024
- In 2004, Chad Daybell started his own publishing company and immediately put out three awful books for children: a guide to baptism, a picture book about Jesus's last week on earth, and a Choose Your Own Adventure-style book about the publication of the Book of Mormon. We'll break down all three in this video.

“I’m going to cover all of them” YESSSSS! I can’t wait!
I have to recant: there's one I can't find! In fact, I only discovered that it exists because of the Wayback Machine. Apparently the first book Spring Creek Books put out was a spiral-bound (!) memoir he wrote about his mission. I can't find any other place he mentioned it, let alone the book itself.
Kouri Richens .. Are You With Me? Accused of unaliving her husband then writing a children’s book for her kids .. trial is in August. Could be interesting to address the book at some point? Just an idea.
Yeah, unfortunately Kouri didn't write that book. She had a ghostwriter. I'll be keeping an eye on the trial, though.
@@KitWordWiseVideoswow, I didn’t know that. Did she at LEAST illustrate it? It seems the height of ego to have someone else write a book like that just to slap your name on it.
OK this has been bothering my son and I about this book, the cover shows a little boy in the sky or the father can't remember, then 5 crows. What? A flock of crows are called a murder of crows!! Hmmm? Do you have any thoughts?
I am so excited about all the books you’re planning on covering! It’s equal parts entertainment and education. ❤
Yay!! Visions of Glory!! Holy Moly!! I am really looking forward to your take on this!!
I have really, really loved the way you woven in research about Chad’s faith and belief. I have some feelings about true crime but I think you have taken such an interesting approach and you’re always respectful of this man’s victims.
An idea: I would love to hear your thoughts on the MANY books by Michael and Debi Pearl. They write TO TRAIN UP A CHILD which has been connected to the deaths of 7 children, I believe (they’ve never been tried or anything, but it’s been touted as a fundie-favorite child abuse manual). There’s also CREATED TO BE HIS HELP MEET. I think your insights would be fascinating!
I've heard of To Train Up a Child! I don't have kids, so I don't know how qualified I am to evaluate their methods, but I'll the book out. Thank you!
@@KitWordWiseVideos Debi also released a fiction book that is one of the wildest business I’ve read. I have so deeply appreciated how you’ve approached Chad’s fiction and nonfiction mesh and it is one of the reasons the Pearls popped into mind.
So grateful for you and these videos in this space. Have been in a pretty dark place recently and your videos have been such a bright spot - like having a coffee with someone talking about something they’ve read and the background on everything they’ve uncovered. Thank you so much.
43:00 ROFL !! I just busted a gut with this realization! And the book will forever be remember as the book that said Jesus was naked!! No illustrations needed. 😂😂😂😂
Thank you! It’s 110 degrees and super humid in AR. What a lovely surprise to have something to listen to! I want to listen to any book you decide to do.
I would love to hear the Jason Mow, and Melanie Gibb books. I weirdly find a lot the people surrounding these dumdums kinda intriguing.
I just bought the Jason Mow books! I started the first one--it's so overwritten. I'm still watching for Melanie Gibb's book on eBay. Thank you!
Oh I am in for these!! All of them really, but these would be fun to see how much they copy from each other.
"Then Chad continues being Chad..."
😄 🤣 😂 Can't wait for all you have planned for future videos, Kit.
Ohhhhh Sara Boone. That is such a crazy bunch of letters I’m sure. Can’t wait.
She's now filing her own motions, too, and they're written just like her letters. It's going to take me hours just to collect them all, but l'm kind of fascinated by Sarah. I'm looking forward to her trial.
You are fabulous-- oh heavens...more, more, more
Can you create a patreon or membership for access to you reading these books, cover to cover?
I don't think that's legal, but I appreciate the suggestion.
I don’t know about the legality, but a fun CZcamsr has done the one foot in the grave book! Plus visions of glory and I think the not not enough book.
I guess he may feel kind of safe with their authors in prison? Not sure how it works, but if it’s doable, I’m in!
yay!!! ❤❤
I'm so excited for your upcoming projects!!!!
I love the mug! Thank you for sharing it.
Kresha at DiffiCULT ReSEARCH makes them!
So stoked about your future “playlist”!
Chad isn't going to interview ANYONE,much less children...he's only interested in HIS opinion! IMO
Yaaaaaasss!!!
Sorry, I got overly excited. I will try to add something of value next time lol.
I m really appreciating your videos!!!! Greetings from Italy!
We have heaps of choose your own adventures here, I loved them but I would read everything as a child.
Can't wait for the rest of the series!!
I don't know if you actually realize how great, entertaining, and thoughtful you are. I get so much from every stream. I was watching with my 34 year old son and we were saying oh ya and laughing so hard because of some of the "obvious" things you point out especially when it comes to children. You are certainly tapped in.
We recently watched a true crime story of a 10 year old who killed his father and asked the cop on the way to the station if his dad gets another life? Omg it broke my heart. Like a video game you get many lives but this 10 year old didn't realize life doesn't work like that. We discussed what the difference was in our family and agreed it had to be because we always had animals from birth and learned about life and death cycles young. My son said well that's why your first pets should be goldfish. I was laughing so hard but there is truth in that, it doesn't take a lot to teach children simple concepts, you could use a plant but should be taught early.
We got so much from this ty it was a great bonding time for us in fact. Anyway your great and funny too. We will be forever fans and supporters.
I LOVE the idea of families watching together. That's so heartwarming. Thank you for watching!
I’m so glad you’re staying! We’re having fun too.
I want to hear what you have to say. I am loving all your videos. Please keep posting.
YAY!! I cant wait to see all your videos. I love that cup, might have to get one
The mug is merch for Kresha's channel, DiffiCULT ReSEARCH. Nice quality, too!
32 is a lot of endings. I read a fair amount of choose your own adventure books and they only had maybe 10? at the most. Now I’m going to have to dig one out and see.
It was 36! I think most of the book was endings!
I vote for books by anyone who is ridiculously self important but a terrible author. bonus points if it’s non-fiction but full of lies. Ya know, Chad-like.
I can think of a few politicians books that I could never bring myself to read, but I would love to hear your take on! I understand if you don’t want to get into those though.
Do you want people to comment books here? Or do you have an email we should use?
You can put them here or email me at wordwisevideos@gmail.com. I don't think I could suffer through many politicians' books, though!
Your channel is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks.
Welcome! I have a Daybell playlist you might enjoy.
@@KitWordWiseVideos I have already started it. Lol
I suscribed ... you remind me of my aunt Barbara. She's dead . I love your sense of humor and your wholesome nature. In a world rapidly filling itself with evil you are a breath of fresh air.
Aww, thank you. Well, rest in peace, Aunt Barbara.
Ive never heard of anybody saying they had a burning in the chest. I think he has a wild imagination. BTW Chris Watts person buddy has wrote a book . It's called the cell next door I believe.
I LOVE your channel! I also would be interested in hearing you do Kouri Richens book ARE YOU WITH ME?
I thought about it, but there are two issues. First, apparently the book now costs hundreds of dollars. Second, Kouri didn't write it. She had a ghostwriter, so I wouldn't really be able to deduce anything about her from the book. It's a great suggestion, though.
@@KitWordWiseVideos ohhh,ok. Thanks for answering me!
Thank you for the entertainment.
Thank you for watching! It's so much fun having people to share my peculiar obsessions with!
That’s the BEST mug!!!
DiffiCULT ReSEARCH has them!
1:30 I live near Springville, Utah. I’m happy to scout out thrift stores for his books if any of them are hard to find.
Thank you so much! The only book I haven't been able to find is a memoir Chad wrote called My Mission to New Jersey. I don't know how many copies he printed--it was the first book Spring Creek Books put out, and it was a spiral bound, so he might have printed it at an office supply store. He never mentioned it except on a single page of Spring Creek Books's website. I imagine it's nearly impossible to find, so don't go to any trouble, but if you ever find it, I'll be thrilled.
@@KitWordWiseVideosI’ll keep my eye out. I think my friend told me that someone just died and their home was full of Daybell books. I’ll ask her.
I am so excited to go on this journey with you! 😂
🕊❤️
I'm glad you're coming with!
Melanie Gibb wrote a book, "Feel the Fire". Would love your take. If the cover blurb is any indication, she definitely qualifies as a bad writer.
I keep checking for it on eBay, and it must be far more fantastic than we expect, because nobody's selling their copy! I might have to break down and order if from the publisher.
@@KitWordWiseVideosI just checked Amazon and I see two used copies. They’re both ~$25, though, which is more than I’d want to pay for this book. 😳 I’m loving your content and am excited for more!
Please cover Loinfire 🔥
You aren't the first to request this, and I suppose I should do it just for the sake of completeness, but dear Lord... I cringe just thinking about it!
I guess it’s probably easier to draw a face on poo, then to draw a face that doesn’t look like poo.
Nancy Broophy. Interesting.
Nancy is turning out to be such an interesting character! Her books are just bonkers, but certainly more fun than Chad's.
Heartburn for divine
Also, I vote book club.
What kind of books do you want to read?
@@KitWordWiseVideos Good question. Maybe rotate through different genres. I’m not sure but honestly when anyone says “book club” I get excited. 😂
I don’t have to read the poop books to know that they are a step up from chads drivel.
He was actually 14 when he had the first vision
Was he? I'd love to hear more.
Omg!! That's is an old joke -- I went to parochial schools all the way through -- "...Jesus says, "John -- I can see your house from up here!".." oy!
16:30 Alma is pronounced “Owl-muh” not Ull-ma. Just helping you out. 😅
Hmm, that one's going to be tough. I've been writing a Sister Alma for several years. I'll put it on a sticky note!
This question isn't regarding this book or Chad's book but off topic regarding Kouri Richens book that got lost in a reply.
OK this has been bothering my son and I about this book, the cover shows a little boy in the sky or the father can't remember, then 5 crows. What? A flock of crows are called a murder of crows!! Hmmm? Do you have any thoughts?
I haven't read the book, partly because it's hundreds of dollars and partly because Kouri had a ghostwriter, so I'm not sure how much influence she had over the contents--or the cover. Do crows feature in the story? If they do, I think that could be significant. However, looking at the cover, I think it's just as likely that the illustrator threw in some birds to balance the composition. Have you read the book?
@KitWordWiseVideos I have not, I chose not to support by purchasing one and although I deal with the loss of a son and grieving it didn't speak to me. It was just interesting how things like the crows show up on a book of a woman accused of murdering her husband. It was just a question my son raised as he noticed it. I appreciate your answer and looking at it. I value your insights and your honesty! Ty
@KitWordWiseVideos in answer to the crow question I don't believe it figures into the story I've watched parts of it read on other channels. Your probably correct about the ghost writer. As focused on on money as she was she was potbelly just grifting on the situation to make money she hoped fast anyway. But again my opinion.
I think Chad hates children.
Me too 😢 except himself as a child. He always worried that he would die young . How does he think those kids felt . He took from them what he was afraid of for his own self. What a piece of work
You just blew my mind. I hadn't even thought about the fact that his fear of dying young was projected onto JJ and especially Tylee. There are so many layers of tragedy in this case.
I think he hates anything he can't control...or which he perceives as out of control. So women, children, society, culture the economy, politics, and basically everything else.
How about your books. Just put the links in.
I've thought about it. At the moment, I'm trying to keep my life just a little compartmentalized. But I think that, when I finally publish my next book, I'll probably do a big reveal then.
What a bunch of drivel. He should be ashamed that he called these books.
Oh no!!! Nobody wants to see Jesus sad!!!!
Funny that Chad, who is a false prophet is obsessed with false prophets!
The man embodies irony.
