Libero - Volleyball Defence Specialist

Rules for the libero
All the big teams have one player that is a defence specialist, the libero. He is mostly change with a middle blocker in the back field but other positions are also aloud. If you never seen volleyball before you should know that their are some special rules for the Libero.
The libero may not attack in the front of the field and he may never spike a ball above the net. As second is the this player not alloud to give an overhand set inside the front of the field. The Libero is also not aloud to serve in the volleyball game.

OMG If I could play a position I would LOVE to play Libero. They are sooo freakin' amazing! Guardian Dieties ALL OVER THE PLACE. Yes Haikyuu! got me interested in volleyball. Before that I didn't even know people played it professionally. I wish it got more attention media wise. BTW, Nishinoya and Yaku are amazing :)
if you want to play as a libero sign in to a volleyball club, play and try to get this position. I've started 3 month ago and now I'm allowed to play as libero in training matches. ^^

Libero was skitz for the 1st 2 and a half years but its gets boring especaly when you get a great chase and get it up the they let it drop also you have to be wanting the ball not hoping it doesnt come to you and you need lightning reaction time and you cant be scared to dive and come out the match with injurys

+Volleyball Tube Back in the day, my coach used to joke about how playing volleyball was about solving puzzles and bending the rules. Blocks are legal? Invent the quick attack. Serving is a disadvantage? Invent the jump serve. The back row isn't "allowed" to attack? Invent the pipe? Of course, he was half joking, but there is some truth to this. Since the libero is such a new position, I can only imagine more experimentation in the coming years. Of course, I think the rules of the libero do a good job of keeping it in check. Since we obviously want the set to be near the net, and the first contact is (often) out of the play, encouragement for the libero to be first contact will probably never change, so I don't think a "dedicated" setter libero will ever gain too much popularity. But like you said, having the libero as a second setter in the case where the setter is forced to first contact will probably grow even more. Definitely, we've seen very high quality liberos with amazing defensive skills. I predict that in the coming years, the best liberos will not be judged only on how good their first contact defense is (assuming it is excellent) but on how many things they can do outside of first contact. Things like jump setting, dumping, and maybe even how they deal with last contact might become increasingly important as the libero attempts to "bend the rules" out of a pure defensive position.

it's the special attack from Arisa Sato. She jumps behind the middleline and tosses the ball while it isn't above the net, so it's allowed. I love to watch this.

+paxplayalong Just wanted to elaborate on what Volleyball Tube said. In the 1990's, when the libero position was introduced, one of the rules that was decided on was that the libero could not set above their head in front of the 3 meter line but could set above their head behind the 3 meter line, effectively preventing the libero from acting as a "second setter" that could change places with anyone. However, the wording of this rule was difficult to judge and officials had problems interpreting exactly what this rule should mean. Eventually, it was decided that being "behind the 3 meter line" should be interpreted as "the last place on the floor the player touched was behind the 3 meter line". This allowed the libero to jump from behind the 3 meter line and set the ball closer to the net as long as the libero had not landed in front of the line yet. The play at 1:57 is legal because she jumped from behind the line, so she is effectively "behind the 3 meter line" before she lands.
