- Although the new Porsche 911 is really quite marvellous, James takes a spin in a 911 modified by Singer Vehicle Design - a custom built tribute car that cherry picks the best bits from 50 years of 911 history. And it creates something really quite special.

I've driven a friends Singer. 4,000 man hrs goes into each one. That's less than $100 an hr. Amazing cars. When you figure that a 70's 230hp 930 sells for $250k, these cars start to make sense. The car is kept numbers matching, and Singer's reputation means that it will hold it's value.
I love how James talks. You can see he's been reading a lot. He has a way with words.
The Singer 911 is now officially my dream car!
I love it when May gets to do his once-a-series sensible piece.
"A love letter to a car"... Bring back Top Gear. 😢
YES! THIS is what the future needs! The old model's look with the modern technology! Thank you Singer
was that helicopter in the background really worth it? LOL gotta love Top Gear
Years later and it still gives me goosebumps. Absolute perfection.
A very interesting point he made there.... "The sensation of performance".... Everyone now a days is so stuck about "bhp/whp" "power to weight" "top speed,0-100".... But what really matters is the sensation of performance.... Hw the machine makes u feel.... Think of it this way.... Whenever u take a flight to some place... Ur easily always doing more than 400 mph. But you don't enjoy it... It doesn't matter.... But doing 60mph while dodging moving traffic is the best feeling ever... Real driving isn't about moving extremely fast from A-B.... Its the smile on your face when u throttle the beast....
the sound of the old air cooled engines was mad
James NAILED this review! Oh and good job Singer for making an original even better. Stunning car, stunning review, and what a stunning show. I am going to miss you Top Gear.
"A love letter to a car" ........ That is about right!! +993
"A love letter to a car"
What a car. I hate it, when people complain, that the 911 looks the same, like 50 years ago. It's tradtion and a timeless look, but well haters gonna hate...
"The Monks of this Monastery of the 911 have prostrated themselves before their icon, and anointed it with exquisite gifts."
This is, by far, my favorite Top Gear clip online. The camera work, James May, the car, everything. Perfect.
Some say that even Jeremy loves the Singer 911..
Top Gear was such a good show, I will miss it a lot...
For a second there I thought "Singer" would be the same "Singer" as from the sewingmachines... ^^
James can drift! HE CAN DRIFT! His Captain Slow's name is gone! He should change it to Captain Lost or Captain Sensible.
