Jens Pulver is such a class act, man... Respect.
Truth. Pulver is a real man.
Love him, check out his twitch!
BJ Penn is one of the worst TUF Coaches ever
firecrackerjack68 he’s tough people are jus mentally weak 🤷🏽♂️
@@guesswho2632 I forget who I saw talking about it, but somebody explained that BJ and other coaches are all tough love, and not everybody thrives with that kinda coaching.
Aww poor andy was hoping everyone forgot about this, and here it is 13 years later rubbing it in his face
he deserves it tho
Poor Andy? Did you even watch the clip? Idiot.
He deserves as Khalabeb said.
Real scumbag. He should have gotten his "head kicked off his shoulders" as Dana nicely put it.
@@vipr1142 that happened, the TUF finale of that season Cole Miller tko'ed him via head kick.
and this wasn't even the worse of it. They could have showed him crying
@@vipr1142 u really don't get the sarcasm??
I felt bad for Jens during this show. He was disrespected several times. The dude is one of the Lightweight pioneers of the sport and a legend in my eyes.
@Christopher McMillan He's still fine with Zuffa isn't he? He streams for the UFC's twitch every week? But yes, Jens is a good dude.
Jens is a legend PERIOD!
Yea I felt the same way and worse for Jens when he has to see one of the TUF contestants is one that he has a loss to must have been awkward your one of the coaches for the season but the other team has a member that you have fought and lost too, but Jens is always professional and seems like a good guy in real life unlike BJ who came across arrogant and like a diva at times , while Jens was just there to help the younger guys coming into the UFC.
@Fight Sport Talk Not sure about the zuffa disagreements , I know that he ended up walking away when Dana wouldn't give him a pay raise that he made a request for his new contract i think before UFC 36 or 37 but then returned a few years later when he lost to Joe louzon then did this TUF season. He will always be a legend in my books for being the UFC's first lightweight Champion(the reason he asked for a pay rise) when he defeated Caol Uno people forget that and he defended it like 3 times including beating BJ Penn by majority Decision.
This aged very well
The way Pulver's team accepted Wang with open arms made me feel warm inside

@Christopher McMillan Jens is just a chill dude. Otherwise I doubt he woulda been able to coach effectively if he let the shit BJ pulled in the opening selections get to his head
Wang wanted the easy way out. In his mind, if he could be on no team and "train" alone, he could get another free month of food and housing without having to put in any work.
@@TS47YT Wang spent the whole fight ignoring everything BJ and his corner were yelling and couldn't connect or take him down at all. I guess it was more so his whole attitude than purely one fight but, still wasn't good

that's not what really happened necessarily the way the tv shows. Wang isnt trying to disrespect anyone, he's just a REALLY nice guy that is REALLY not a smart guy. @Notorious 885 How did you pull "blindly like everyone" from op's comment? Stay in school kiddo
Yeah but then Wang was a fucking asshole not jumping at that opportunity immediately when it was offered! I can see why BJ didn't want him. A true fighter would have jumped at the chance to be on Puler's team and thanking them and doing whatever it took to prove to BJ he made a mistake.
We want fighter not nice guys!
Unfortunately Dana doesn’t sign people for being nice guys...
Jens Pulver was a pretty standup guy in this show, man was patient AF
The fighter mentality would be throwing on that jersey as fast as possible and wanting to beat the crap out of anyone that BJ threw out Andy. He clearly doesn't have what it take to be a UFC fighter, at least not the the TUF route, having said that it isn't the only route, but it isn't for Andy either.
I remember it took Tecia Torres like 1 second to decide to go to the other team and fight again. Although she did take some heat for it because she beat one of her teammates. However, you could tell Tecia was a professional while some of these fighters are treating it like Summer Camp.

I think Andy is a little slow. What did he think Dana would do? Force BJ to take him back? I doubt Andy would be able to think fast enough to do what BJ wanted. Probably needs a specialist coach to break things down for him. He struggles to follow a game plan as evidenced by the cole miller fight.
Garry Coates all BJ wanted Andy to do on the show is take the fight to the ground and use his BJJ black belt. Instead he lost a brawl on the feet and refused to even try to take it to the ground.

I love Penn, I’m a fan from way back. With that being said, I can’t help but laugh at him being mad because they aren’t giving 100%. His whole career was defined by him rarely being fully committed.
@Paul Ingram definitely overrated but he was a phenom in his prime and especially in the early days of the UFC. He definitely could have been better with a stronger work ethic.
With that being said, the fact that he was so undersized against guys like Hughes, GSP, also Fitch and was still able to hold his own is a testament to how good he was. He technically lost the first fight against GSP but he beat him up badly on the feet.

Jens for me was the best coach throughout TUF.. he was a class act, and an honest dude.
This season really highlighted how much of a douchebag BJ was. From the whole "raise your hand if you don't want to be on Pulver's team" during picks to holding the choke in the finale fight and getting no flak for it, this whole season was a handjob to BJ. What other season did they bring on someone who had knocked out one of the coaches only a couple months prior? It was ridiculous. Pulver is an absolute class act and a HOF fighter for sure.
Rather unfair analysis given bj and je s were rivals.....penn was clearly the better fighter but lacked experice when they first fought and thst burned him....I'm sure you'd be great to someone you didn't like u white night imitating muppet
@@jonjohnson1978. Because I'm a grown adult I can function normally even in the presence of people I dislike. I'm sorry you like BJ Penn and this season exposed him the same way TUF exposed Ronda as being a childish bully. Want to know how BJ got easy passes and special treatment? Feel free to name any other fighter that was able to go 1-9-1 in the UFC and somehow keep a job, that include a 7 fight losing streak.
@@swamp9136 I'm sure you could...but then for contedt have you had to be civil to anyone after they beat you in a fight?.........
Andrei arlovski during an 11 fight run had 8 losses, 2 wins and 1 NC so BJ is not alone....though him not being released is irrelevant to the topic at hand...frankly they both should of been given it's 3 losses and your done
The show showed penn wasnt great to pulver....he was fine towards everyone else...ronda was horrific to every opponent.....not the same at all
@@jonjohnson1978. Yes I did. I lost my second MMA fight to a guy I absolutely hated and we ended up being friends years later when we both fought on a regional card and we were the out of Towners so we ended up cornering eachother.
So when I say BJ could have been way more adult about it, I speak from experience. There is a brotherhood in combat. To where even if you don't like someone you still respect them for the fact they do something most do not. People who have never fought often don't understand that concept
@@swamp9136 I'll take u at your word that you have...BJ felt differently, now for clarity, the 'raise your hand' and all the stuff on the show if u have an issue with that it's your opinion, I don't and neither you nor I can tell someone else how to behave however, him holding onto the choke for that extra second was inexcusable

@@MSDS-iRacing China is STILL barely into MMA- I have no idea what you're talking about. It's a very, very slow growing process. The scene in China is so miniscule; there's a reason that there were issues arising from Xu Xiaodong smashing traditional martial artists.

I remember watching this season in April 2007 when it aired, I was stationed in Hawaii at the time. My brigade had just completed an 80 hr level 2 combatives course and hired BJ Penn and his brother Reagan to fly over and do a two day jiu jitsu seminar with the class. It was before the finale and the last few episodes hadn't aired yet, but despite our best efforts, BJ would not divulge what fighters made it to the finale. I remember how trim he looked compared to the last time I saw him fight. He wouldn't eat anything but fish/chicken and rice while he was there, so I was not surprised by how much better his conditioning was or the fact that he'd beat Jens.
After watching this I’m so happy with how penn turned out today
