    Hi Kev, would kindly review the ebs Reidmar 502 amp? 👍🏾

    Mine arrived today. Love it, perfect balance between clarity and tone. Just strange that there’s a foot switch jack to mute instead of a mute switch and no foot switch.

      Markbass want you to pay extra for their foot switch. Apparently you can use it to bypass the EQ as well.

    Anyone have an issue with the gain knob producing a louder than normal “hiss” sound as you turn it up? Have hd this head for a couple years now and all of a sudden have started having this problem

    Good review, I was wondering about this one. It sounds very similar to the little Mark tube though.

    Has anyone compared this to the Markbass Vintage D2? I can't find any direct comparisons other than pointing out the obvious difference in the knobs & switches on the faceplates.

    Do they mother boards still crap out burning fuses needing a whole new expensive board replacement that cost almost the amount of the new amp or have they improved?

    Gold Connectors is a big plus these days. The amount of gold on the connectors should not be that much more as so little is needed. The tin connectors on some of these other big name amps has cause early repairs. They corrode so much faster. Only widh they had a switch which takes out the compressor/limiter completely. We have gone passed the one knob setup. Other than that this amp sounds great.

      Turn the Limiter to full counter clockwise position - no compression

  • @Khaospenguiny

    Spent the whole review with the "Scoop" mode engaged, which makes it very hard to hear any other characteristics of the amp.
    Would have been better to spend most of the time on "flat" and then test and compared the scoop and vintage settings.
    It's like spending the whole vid with the low EQ maxed and then summarising as 'a great amp with heaps of bass'

    • @ollegrane4654
      @ollegrane4654 Před 4 lety +2

      Aidan Arnold I think they consider the scoop to be the ”normal” position... 😂

      I noticed that too. I would have thought "flat" would be the default setting.

    I'm interested in seeing this in a comparison with the darkglass 900. I can't decide if that 6 band EQ is important to me..

    • @gioboye
      @gioboye Před 4 lety +1

      Sean Skrobarczyk I was torn between the darkglass 900 and this markbass vintage 500. The markbass has a very nice clear tube warmth to the tone of the amp. Lows are punchy and if you really push the lows it will rumble hard. Highs are clear with a warmth from the tube. I tried this amp with a markbass 4x10 cab with front porting and I used my ken smith 5 string bass

    • @gioboye
      @gioboye Před 4 lety +3

      Sean Skrobarczyk compared to the markbass the darkglass 900 was certainly clear but lacked in the warmth punchiness that the mark had due to the tube it has. You need to bump the highs on the amp so you can get a really clear tone but at this point you will hear hissing from the highs coming through the cab. Overdrive is where I feel this amp shines. Overdrive tone with a J or P bass will knock your socks off lol but the clean tone which is what I’m looking more for just wasn’t there and I used the same markbass 4x10 cab to demo along with my 5 string ken smith bass

      @@wuwliwonka yes of course, I was after a more 'neutral' amp. My comment was meant in relation to that so maybe seemed harsh without explaining. I do think MB are quality amps and cabs.

    Love the tone on this amp, but the build quality, at least on mine, is pretty sad.

    • @hugeshows
      @hugeshows Před 4 lety +2

      @Toxic Potato I don't want to get into the weeds, but suffice it so say that when I heard something rattling around inside the amp, which turned out just to be a loose piece of caulk, I had occasion to look and see inside. I found the build quality to be wanting in several ways. I have only ever opened one MarkBass amp, this one. So who knows what lurks inside of other amps of theirs, I sure don't. I loved the tone of this model despite its noise floor being a bit high, but I didn't think it would last very long based on how it was slapped together on the inside, so I returned mine. End of story.
