  • In response to a request from the Tergar Meditation Community, Mingyur Rinpoche will give a live teaching from Nepal on Sunday to support practitioners all over the world.
As Mingyur Rinpoche kindly reminds us, no matter how trapped we may feel by anxiety, depression, or guilt, there is always another option available to us, one that doesn't ask us to stop feeling what we already feel or to stop being who and what we are. Quite the contrary, when we know where to look, and how to look, we can find peace of mind in the midst of raging emotions, profound insight in the midst of complete confusion, and the seeds of compassion in our darkest moments, even when we feel completely lost and alone.

Your teachings have been immensely helpful for me in recent times. I've suffered from depression and anxiety for quite a while, I still feel them, but they no longer have power over me, in fact I'm starting to enjoy when I feel them. I like the example of aversion is like adding fuel to the fire, and my personal understanding is that once you accept these emotions and start to feel them, you've basically stopped running back and forth for fuel and now you're just sitting next to the fire, and at first it's too hot. But as you sit there longer and longer the fire starts to die down, and eventually it becomes small enough to sit next to, it even starts to become nice, warm, comforting, something that you want to seek out, not avoid.

Mingyur Rinpoche, I just love to read and watch a lot of your contents. You're making meditation/non-meditation so much clearer to understand in practice.
However I am not up to the stage where a person had experienced "emptiness", which you've mentioned that one has to experience for oneself. But I am ok at where I am because you said we should not grasp.
I am also surprised that you also teach eye gazing. This is a similar concept to Ashtanga yoga called drishti, where you may need to focus your eye at somewhere for each pose. This is to stop one's mind to wonder away from what you're doing.
I bet Tibetan meditation has also got something similar to pranayama, which is yogic breathing techniques.
I personally find yoga is very useful when I am unable to meditate, because sometimes, my thought flow and emotions are so overwhelming. After the practice, I feel better and then I can start to meditate.
Currently, I am still reading your first book, and I am hooked to your content, all thanks to "no 🍕"

2/7/21 Hello from North Carolina, USA! Thank you for this teaching. Perhaps it would be a good idea to teach people the different kinds of suffering taught by the Buddha? We do have Shakespeare's sonnet 73.and of course the Bible says " From dust thou art, and to dust thou shalt return." "The generations of Man are like the generations of grass." But beyond impermanence, the specific kinds of suffering which the Buddha taught are not always so obvious. It is helpful to know what they are.We don't always think of them as suffering!

Very impressive since buddha teaching should be included in Nepal curriculum since mindfulness should be the first stage to treat stress and anxiety but it’s sad that the country where Buddha was born most people don’t know his teaching how to be in present moment by making mind still so happiness is our real nature so thanks guru for your teachings . So even Buddha palace is in need to renovation in Kapilbastu so lumbini should be sacred place for meditation and getting rid of suffering through eight fold path .❤

Laurie A nne, Meditation is the only way to get rid of anxiety as the mind is reprogrammed. Enter "alternate nostril breathing meditation videos " on Google search and watch the videos and see how it is done. It is very simple and has to be done at least twice a day for 10 minutes. It can also be done sitting on a chair. Try to observe your breath when meditating. You will feel relaxed if you do the above practice daily. Best wishes. Avoid watching negative TV shows.
