Yeah, Mirage wasn't in AoE. They left him out in favor of New Autobots to add more "personality" to the crew. In lore explaination os that he's either dead or MIA from Cemetery Wind's operation to hunt down Optimus.
Good thing the Dinobots were the only favorited parts I liked about AoE in my unpopular opinion lol. Reason why I said this is because apparently ever since the drama happened with the Autobot designs from Rise of the Beasts being different from the Bumblebee movie, I started preferring Dinobots and Maximals over Autobots unfortunately, nothing personal. Besides, if I were to see a solo Beast Wars movie happened? it would've been cool to see Maximals and Dinobots form an alliance against Predaking and the BW Predacons.
I grew up with Transformers. The funny thing is..NOBODY LIKED FREAKING BUMBLEBEE.. his toy blew. A little yellow punchbug. Who cares? Everybody had one but guess who was one of the first autobots to get blown away in our imaginations.. FREAKING BUMBLEBEE.. and throughout the horrid Transformers Bayverse theyve shoved that character down everybodys throats. Its a conspiracy lmao.
Hound was supposed to be the "mascot" hanging with the humans rather than Bumblebee. If you notice in the first three pilot episodes.. Around Transport to Oblivion, Bumblebee took on the role more so. He'd accidentally get caught, drive in reverse, etc.. ugh. The toy's wheels fell off too! I actually carried a Goldbug toy with me a lot.. I liked him as a throttle bot a lot better.. I was born in 83 so Bumblebee was a Pretender when i was old enough to know what i wanted in stores. That toy sucked but they did bring Starscream back! I wish Mirage got a new toy prior to the Gen-2. I used to put him against Dragstrip in my toy scenes! I still do with my WFC collection.. I just scored a SS Mirage from ROTB, and he's as awesome as I imagined! Once I get a second one I can open him, and place him with Optimus, Cheetor, Airrazor, and Arcee! I'm a dork I know.

I remember being one of three people getting an early showing of Mike Bay's first movie.. I was so excited to hear Blackout transform above the base! Then after the first movie I just couldn't take it.. having no voice to being a Camaro. I'm a Chevy fan too! I thought it was just because Chevy put up a lot of their cars for all him explosions. So many explosions! Why??! And an ARM CANNON? UGH! I'm mad now I'm going to go break a Micheal Bay toy! No no I'm down to Dino, Jolt, and Roadblock LoL!

I think what makes Bumblebee so popular is that he is loyal to humans and would risk his life time and again defending them. Optimus Prime too.
