according to what hodgins said about washington he said they kept running man so they kept doing mesh plays and it worked out perfectly for them
this gonna be a long paragraph but basically tells you what he said:
On what he saw from the Commanders' secondary on film:
"They have a good mix of talented players and veteran guys and that shows up on film. They are a long secondary with some good size, so we were trying to do a lot of quick game with them. Try to get the ball out of [Tommy] DeVito's hand quick. We wanted to play fast so they couldn't substitute and I think that we did well with that."
On if getting the ball out quickly has a greater impact on longer players:
"It helps with everything, but yeah it definitely does affect longer guys I think. Usually players like that are less twitchy, so the suddenness makes life hard on them. Their reaction is just a bit slower, so we have a real advantage earlier in routes and plays because their bodies take longer to react to whatever they are seeing."
"But it also helps with our offensive and our routes. We know that we have to be focused and get into our routes fast. We'd played them before so we knew that we had to change it up. They weren't gonna give us what we had last time we played them. We didn't do the quick game last time. But it was a subtle little changeup. Something to change their eyes and how they see us.
On if the quick game caused the breakdowns for Washington:
"Yeah, they play a lot of man, so for us we do a lot of meshes. Trying to get some picks and make their defenders pick themselves for our receivers. They were kind of struggling with the meshes that we had and we [had] seen that and started calling them even more."
On if Washington adjusted much:
"Not really. There main plan seemed to be that they wanted to play man and then let their d line do what they do. They had some success with the sacks and stuff, but playing man in the NFL for an entire game isn't easy and we got guys who can make plays. So we started doing that and I didn't really notice a counter. They stuck with their plan."

@@drewcabalar1934 Why is it "outrageous"? Howell takes too many sacks and throws way too many INTs to be a successful NFL QB. Heinicke is 50 times better than Howell, simply because Heinicke doesn't make nearly as many horrible mistakes as Howell. There is simply no comparison between the two. Heinicke is obviously better.
@@jameshutchinson568 howell has shown more flashes of being elite in a couple games then Heinicke did his entire time in Washington. I love Heinicke but the only impressive thing about his game was his grit and energy, as far as being a franchise qb however it was never there. Heinicke was also playing with an elite defense which has inexplicably been horrendous this year, a half solid o line which has been awful since we lost flowers and roullier and brought in guys like Wylie. The biggest flaw about howell has been some questionable decisions but Heinicke was just as bad. Howell has a WAY better arm, better accuracy, and is honestly more of a threat to run. You can’t teach physical intangibles, you can teach decision making. And tbh minus this last game and the bills game, the dude has looked like a top 10 qb virtually every other week
