His technique at 2:31 is so instinctive and natural... for some reason he seemed to lose that ability later in his career.
@Gat i personally feel it was when moyes gave him the captaincy that he declined. rooney was always all action, sometimes reckless and just too hot for defenders to handle, once he became captain he had to be less energetic and more responsible, it killed his career too early
No rooney never declined, because after Sir Alex, no one can use rooney to his full potential, even mourinho stupidly playing him in left/right wing

Although I do think he lost a bit of what he could have been when that did happen, it happened when Ronaldo was still at the club (I remember cos for me a huge signpost of it was when he moved to left wing as a workhorse while ronaldo went in as a forward, and it was part of him "maturing" and becoming more 'do what im told'). He lost something more around 2012-13ish.

I remember this like it was yesterday. 2007 Romania watching this game with my father, i was 12, we saw Cristiano for the first time, he said that's the way a football player should look like, few years later CR7 is a top legend. What a team had Man utd and what a management. Cristiano put a fingerprint everywhere he played.

I’m a Leeds fan and it just has to be said, it’s very hard not to admire this performance. I remember watching this game, and everything about the display was pure class. Couple of excellent goals from Carrick too. Truly, Sir Alex Ferguson has left a legacy at this club that will be very hard for anyone to match. Phenomenal stuff from a wonderful team.
