- Get ready for an amazing upcycling project that will blow your mind! This week, I'm taking a free buffet/sideboard I found on Facebook marketplace and transforming it into a stunning modern piece with the help of some free pallets. I'll show you step-by-step how to create a sleek bench top and modern door fronts using the pallet wood in creative ways.
For the bench top, I've glued the pallets together in an arrow pattern to create a unique and eye-catching design. And for the doors, I've cut the pallet wood into strips and added round overs on both sides for a smooth and polished finish. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that will elevate any room in your home!
To give it a pop of color, I've painted the unit in Dulux Angry Ocean, which adds a bold and modern touch. Whether you're a seasoned DIYer or just starting out, this project is a must-see. So join me on this journey of creativity and sustainability, and discover the magic of upcycling!

Great transformation. You should have done some transformation to the drawers fronts too. And maybe update the drawer slides.
But the colour is on spot
Thank you. 100% could have don't the fronts to match the bottom. :)
This looks awesome! I love the way you used the pallets to modernize the furniture. The end result looks great! Well done!
Thank you. It was a fun build
%100 the right decision regarding the top. Pine is often underrated, and when used right there is nothing wrong with it! Great build.
I completely agree. I was giving it a bad rap! Glad I kept the pine
Wow what a great transformation. What a great idea for filling the insides of the doors with roundover strips, might have to pinch that idea lol.
Thank you :) Welcome. I really like out the strips worked out and think I will also use them in the future. Pinch away :)
Whoa what a transformation it looks great and good choice leaving the top clear it makes it pop
Thank you. Was a fun one and also glad I kept the pine clear. Thanks for stopping by as always 😀
Hi Ainslee
I like the herring bone effect on the top. That paint colour is interesting. I have to say though that I am ancient of days and if I found a modern cabinet I would add vintage trim and it would turn out pre 1900 style but I am vintage and so is my parlour.
However you fulfilled the challenge splendidly. Eryk :-)
Thanks Eryk. The colour was a risk but I think it paid off. I to like the herring bone. Something a little different. Thanks for stopping by 😀
Hi Small Fry, in a word FANTASTIC, love the colour's a great job. I know that's more than one word, but what the hell
Hey John Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video and loved the colour. its my new favoruite colour for sure
Such a great flip Ains, bloody came up really really nice. Well done.
Thank you Dave! Really happy with the end result and was fun to try something different
Great result, the pine looks good, I think the walnut would also have looked good against the green. My wife has an identical sideboard...
Thank you. I will have to give the walnut a go on another project because I’m keen to see what it looks like
WOW that's look great when I saw you cut the pallets up and you said you didn't like the noise i was like you need a makita 40v circular saw
Very nice video!!!!!
Thank you very much!😀
I know a way to cut down on that yukky industrial pallet busting... interested in some higher quality _Artisinal_ pallets? You know who to call 😀 I'm glad you left the pine, and the door detail is tops. Great entry Ains.
hahahaha love an Artisinal pallet :) Was a fun challenge and nice to try something different
All that hard work paid off, looks amazing 😀👏👏
Thanks Annie :)
Lovely work Ainsley and really like your sound track
Thank you so much. The music is the hardest part and its lovely to hear you enjoyed the track! Thanks for stopping by
That looks great Ainsley!
Thanks John :)
Love your work, Ainslee 👍
Thank you 😀
That looks incredible, it really does :)
Thank you :)
Fantastic job!
Thank you 😀
Great video and inspiring.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it
Brilliant job Ainslee! What a transformation 👍👍 This judging thing is getting harder and harder 😂😂
You have a big job!! So many great entries. Just fun to always be apart of it :)
@@SmallFryCreations Big job indeed Ainslee....just letting you know that l accept brown paper bags full of cash 😂
That is such a beautiful job! You are so clever! 👏🏻 I know what you mean about the names of paint. 😉 After watching your kitchen makeover I painted the kitchen cabinets and benchtop and went with “Gentle Calm” for the cupboards. I love Angry Ocean! Excellent work! Well done 🌻
Thanks Kathy :) Gentle Calm looks like a great colour and perfect for the kitchen.
@@SmallFryCreations Thank you so much for your encouragement! 🤗
Was Angry Ocean paint a Low Sheen? Sorry if I missed you saying that.
Yep it was. I then top coat with a product called CFP flooring and I do that in a satin or matt depending on how I'm feeling😂
@@SmallFryCreations Wonderful! Thank you so much for your replies and help! You are truly amazing! I don’t know how you did that, especially in such hot weather. 🤗🌻
Great job Ainsley. I like the natural pine top too!!!
Thank you. Yes I'm glad I kept the pine unstained. I think it was the right call :)
It took me a while to see where you were going with this but the transformation is fantastic. I really hoped you didn't stain the top while I was watching this video and not staining it was the best idea. It looks great and It turned out really well. If there is one timber I hate staining and that's pine.
Thank you. I'm very glad I kept the pine unstained. Thanks for stoping by
Nicely done! The uplifting "you can do it" music really suits this project.
Angry Ocean is one of the best colour names I've heard in a long time! For me, the colour name doesn't mean a thing untill I'm deciding between a couple of options, and then it probably influences my decision a little too much... 😅
Thank you. So lovely to hear you enjoyed the music as I really tried to match the theme. I agree with the great name and factoring it in😀😀
@@SmallFryCreations Personally, I think the music could be a little lower in volume.
A lot of work BUT great result!
Thanks Dave. Always worth it in the end 😀
Is there something about the track saw that stops you being able to use it like a circular saw? I always assumed that they worked in a very similar way.
No not at all. You could for sure. The problem is on the track saw you have the push down so the blade stays down and then push forward. Whereas with a circular saw your just pushing forward. The downward force I found was to much for the pallet as soon as 1 side was cut. The blade would bind on the timber.
@@SmallFryCreations Thanks for the reply. I've had tools bind on timber before and that's some scary stuff! Love the unit refurb, keep up the good work 👍👍👍
