Written by Alex Sharp, the comic episode "Ponderosa Matador" finds the Cartwright boys vying for the attention of the lovely Dolores (Marianna Hill), the daughter of Ben's house guest Señor Tenino (Nestor Paiva). And-let's face it-it is almost impossible to keep your eyes off of the beautiful Hill lady who plays well the Mexican senorita whose charm is strongly vied for by the Cartwright sons. Or will he? Even the distinguished-looking widower Ben may win her over. Pernell Roberts really was talented. He was a brilliant actor, he had a wonderful singing voice, he did great impressions, and he spoke Spanish. What a guy!

This was such a great episode. It was funny! Adam is such a hottie!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ The guy speaks fluent Spanish and plays the guitar. I'd fall for him myself. It was hilarious watching all three brothers trying to catch the bull.
Bonanza is such an amazing show! One episode is tense and serious, with shootouts and fistfights, and the next is goofy comedy, like this one. This show always leaves me smiling!

Yes, there was a time when Little Joe got the attention for being cute. And, Adam was certainly handsome.
The tv show aired some time before my birth . My entire family used to watch the show through the 1960's . The early 1970's , the show was never the same without the late Dan Blocker ( Hoss ) .
@@maritzaagosto1793 The show was never the same when Adam left and then Dan died, the show was based around Ben and the boys, when Adam left the chain was made weak Dan died and the link was broken. It would not have been the same any which one left first.

This has got to be the FUNNIEST EPISODE EVER! All three boys were magnificent - but Pernell really shines. And my god, what a beautiful chest he has! Landon shows amazing comical talent, and, of course, Hoss it true to form. What a wonderful memory this show is! Thanks a million to Grjngo for this one.

Joe's face at 2:50 - LMAO! The best Bonanza comedy episodes are as hilarious as any sitcom, and not just because the stories etc were good, but because of those actors. It's why this show could change up immediately from dead serious, cold-blooded killers, rapists - to comedy, to tear-jerkers, to love stories, etc, etc, and all very well-done and credible. They could do it all.
I totally agree with you. This is why back in the Bonanza was the most popular western at that time.. Very talented actors..

This is by far the funniest episode in the series. Great comedic timing on everyone's part. Well scripted and directed. Marianna Hill actually as a child spent time in Spain, so she gave a more than credible turn as Delores. Great to see Pernell show off his Spanish and guitar playing, and Michael doing his stunts, but as always it's Dan who steals the girl's heart and ultimately the show. Many thanks for airing this great episode.

This episode, I think, did a great job of showing off the particular talents of the brothers: Adam out-foxing Hoss and Joe at winning the senorita's attention, the latter two at their comedic best plotting to outdo Adam and looking ridiculous in the process, and all 3 brothers uniting in the end to take the heat from Pa. And then the perfect cap--good ole Hoss wins the affection of the senorita and strolls off with her in mock victory. A good laugh all the way through.

When they created the character Adam Cartwright they created the perfect man. He's rugged, charming, classy, intelligent, educated, brave, cultured, hard working, gentlemanly and so very handsome. And no better man to play the part than Pernell. What a great show. I can never get tired of Bonanza.

Michael, my Little Joe was just magnificent. He could do whatever he wished while acting. He could make us crying and could make us laugh like in this episode. Michael was simply the best always and for sure also the handsomest.

This episode was priceless and I laughed so much! I had to watch it twice! Adam always was my fave..so handsomeand sexy! My Mama loved Hoss. My cousin was crazy about Little Joe and my Grandma cottoned to Ben! We were into Bonanza ..we loved the show dearly and the guys. Funny..even my dog was smiling because I was smiling! Tx fan Gloria
Definitely one of my favorites and is as funny as Hoss and the Leprechauns. My other favorite episode. Little Joe and Hoss together are one of the best duos in TV history along with Richie and the Fonz from Happy Days. By themselves they are good characters but together, they can steal the show. Michael Landon's facial expressions are hilarious and can make you laugh without him saying a word. The see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil part was brilliant. My favorite part of this episode. I know Pernell Roberts hated being on the show but Bonanza was never the same after he left. One of the longest running TV shows ever. If I am not mistaken it ran from 1959 - 1973 stopping because of Dan Blockers death. I remember one Christmas growing up, my mother got my brother and sister and I Ben, Hoss and little Joe I guess you can call them action figures. They weren't as big as GI Joes. I think they were like 8 inches tall and came with their horses. My brother got Ben cause he was the oldest. My sister got little Joe cause you had a mad crush on him. I got Hoss and for some reason was upset about it. I can't remember why but my mom pulled me aside and whispered to me that she want me to have Hoss because he was her favorite. Well that made it all better and I was happy to have him. Kind of funny cause I ended up growing into a big strong man like he was. Not quite so big around the mid section.

This has been always my favourite episode of Bonanza. The jokes and little ironical talks and the action scene with bull make me small through whole of the episode. Love that and always coming back to watch this♥️

excellent, there are picture perfect scenes in every episode (especially the early to mid seasons).
This has been funnier than any contemporary movie I've seen in years, the rivalry and comradery between these 3 gent brothers and the competition is finally won by big ol Hoss, hilarious, the finest in comedy, Bonanza. And Ben the father, and when he say's whos going to chaperone the beautiful daughter?

Adam was a cool cat
Hoss was a very underrated actor. Because he died too early, he needed more time for awards. It is very good therapy for my stroke at almost 70. They're all funny. They're so serious and interesting. They're becoming familiar since the first time I saw Bonanza in '59.

I think this was the beginning of Michael Landon's rivalry with Dan Blocker as the show's real star, if it wasn't established already. Also the shows development into almost a situational comedy. No wonder Pernell Roberts left soon after this.
I spent some time on a farm founded in the 19th century and those plate glass windows were nothing to fool with, they would and could cut you badly.
So the bull from the city to pondarosa damaged.
One saloon.
A whole New fence,
chicken pen with chickens,
harvested a whole wheat field,
2 barns destroyed.
stampeded a herd of milk cows..
