“everyone has read the hunger games” me, someone who has never read it: 👁👄👁
You should! Its amazinggg 🤩🔥
You should read it I’ve never read it either and I barely bought the book and I’m already halfway done with it the book really pulls you in with everything that’s happening
Shame on you
have... have u at least... watched it?
It's been on my to-read list FOREVER .... One day I'll read the series...
Honestly, the way you talk about books.. you could recommend me a grocery store catalog and I would read it lmao
Completely agree!
This is weird, but I love the way Ariel just talks about books. This video has like no cuts in it, it’s just an uninterrupted stream of beautiful words from a beautiful person. obsessed 😌
Beatriz I same
YES! Not in all cases, but with most, I feel like rants/ discussions with cuts feels a little robotic and takes away from the realistic human experience of socialising...
LMAOOOOO 🤣
Somehow didn't notice there were no cuts, oh my goodness!!! Awesome lol
"There is nothing more exciting than a book."
Amen.
I love books, so I toatally understand.
Whats your favorite?
Desislava Popova A partner that loves you.
You have the most Canadian "abouts" I've ever heard! Love it!
Sarah Folger i hate it.
I was looking for this comment haha
They sound normal to me ;)
@@sarahm1779 ok
I never noticed how different Canadian “Abouts” were, until I watched a show called Being Erica😂

Thank you for the list.
u a queen for this
you are an angel, thank you!
Doing God's work. Thanks!
It's midnight here in India and this is when i choose to watch booktube videos and get my life together because booktubers are wholesome and their lives are put together. they are. I said what I said. ✨🌻
They really are
I don’t think our lives are as together as our bookshelves make it seem, but I’m still glad we can bring you some fun videos ✨
i second that. Also from India
Ayy team India!
Saleem Sinai is that you
She'd be such a fun librarian, she's so enthusiastic talking about books. Love it!
i ve re read aristotle and dante so many times over the years, it s such a wonderful book. it fills my heart each time
Giovanna Saturni I really need to do a reread soon!
@@ArielBissett I just finished rereading it two days ago and it was so wonderful and I reread it because of your Goodreads review of the book.
I loved it when I first read it and it is still one of my favourite books, but when i reread it I didn‘t enjoy it that much. I don’t know why, i guess im just not a rereading person
Me: I wonder where she's from
Ariel: About
Ah Canada yes?
AdonisGaming93 that was me in another video haha
*Canada, eh? ;)
Not all of us talk that way. Seems like she is exaggerating it. But I have only lived in BC,,,, yet I have never heard any other Canadians pronounce it that way.
@@bugs1729 It's likely that she's not exaggerating. If you live in BC that makes sense, most of the stereotypical Canadian accents are common on the East Coast where I'm from.
@@ShaylahGeikie I must have been half awake when I made this comment, now I feel bad because of the rude tone. Love her content.
aristotle and dante is the only book ever that i immediately reread after finishing it for the first time. i read the last page, was emotional for 5 seconds, then started again lmao
also 172 hours really is so fun, it made me gasp :D
I did the same thing!
I wanted to feel like way but I just felt meh. Sad times. 😂
Yes! The only book i’ve read form start to finish in one sitting. Love it so much.
for me it's the only book i read twice and plan on rereading. It's just... so good ugh
ME TOO!! i read it in a day because i simply couldn’t bear the thought of putting it down!!!
While I student taught, I had a group of 10th grade boys read Ready Player One. I have never seen a group of 15 year olds so still, silent, and engrossed in a book lol. It’s a fantastic and addicting read for sure!
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is such a gorgeous book its one of my favorites so i would recommend that one
Yes definitely!!!
Breaks my heart every time I read it. Such a beautiful book.
'books that should be mandatory reading for all humans' sounds like a really cool video! I would recommend My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell, especially the audiobook because I can't stop listening to it and find myself thinking about it when I'm not reading ❤️
I had that too with My Dark Vanessa! It's rather distressing but I couldn't stop thinking about it, even after finishing it.
I started the audiobook. While I liked the writing, I couldn't get into the audiobook at all. Didn't like the narrator's voice or pronunciation.
That really sounds like a wonderful video idea. Would love to see it
KateElizabeth was interviewed on BBC's The Women's Hour. Pretty good interview - worth a listen (Spotify or BBC Sounds)
I just uploaded a similar video on my channel. Would love it if you can show some support by checking my content out and subscribe if you find value!
I absolutely lost it at “I’m not rotting” 😂😂
Me too!! The way she said it was adorable and hilarious!
I loled so hard 🤣
"they don't interact with people anymore, just avatars"
hmmmm sounds familiar
You know Ariel, Albatross, the way you describe it reminds me of that episode of Lizzie McGuire where she is picked out by the gym teacher because she realises how great Lizzie is at gymnastics and she wins these trophies but Lizzie's heart is not into it.
Your videos are so warm. Love you 💕
Aditi Sachdeva LITERALLY YES. I’ve explained it this way to people!!!!!!!!!
Having read both Ready Player One and The Hunger Games recently, I can confirm YES THEY ARE AMAZINGGGG!!
Lauren Kiss yay! That’s awesome to hear because it has been quite a few years since I read them!!!
hunger games is just so engrossing. i love the writing style, and the concept. everything is just so perfect.
I loved Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe! It’s one of my favorite book of all time and I have reread it multiple times and never could put it down!☺️🖤
I totally agree!
SAME I LOVE IT 💞💫💞💫
You might like The Ghost of Buxton Manor! Two boys but one is a ghost!
Lizz Locke sounds great! I’ll check it out!
your nailpolish matches so well with the cover of "so you've been publicly shamed"!
OMG! I just finished rereading 'Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe' last night on 5th day of national lockdown here in India. Thanks for all the recommendations :-)
I finished hunger games yesterday here in India's lockdown 😀

crazy firefly thank you! I got so involved in just watching the video I completely forgot to take note of the books they actually mentioned lol
Thank you. I hate it when the books aren't listed especially when it's a lengthy video.
Thank uuu
@@TheMichaelsuazo13 Me too..
I need a ready to go list so that i can just keep tabs on them
@@dontask3497 Ditto😂😂i had to watch this video again to make that list
For nonfiction, I recommend "The Road Back to You". Talks about the 9 different personalities and the downsides to each one. Helps you understand people. Good book!
i love how you talk about 'not popular on booktube' books! its so refreshing.
this was the first book recommendations video I’ve ever watched where I genuinely wanted to read every book on the list!! (and i’ve seen my fair share) thanks so much😊
I love how you sound breathless when you talk about a book u love. I FEEL that.
I’ve been re-reading all the Percy Jackson books in order
Katethepotato LITERALLY SAME !!
Me too! I swear I forgot how much I loved those books!
Katethepotato me too! I love those books so much
ME TOO
Katethepotato a fantastic use of your time
Aristotle and Dante was incredible, I read it as part of a character study for creative writing and I didn't think I would like it, but it was so real and pure and just ahhh
I am so happy youtube finally said: Welcome my child... to BookTube
actually this is the first video of u that I'm seeing and I love how you talk about books I already wanna read all of them!!!
'Edutainment! As they say...'
I love Ariel's enthusiasm. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Yes I recently reread The Hunger Games!!! It is such a masterpiece and the way it is written and Katniss' inner monologue it's just brilliant!
I like how you can explain the book without giving away too much spoilers
I recently ordered Albatross after hearing you rave about it on your podcast! I can't wait till it arrives!
I love that there are almost no cuts in this video! It makes it feel like a conversation almost. Really great!!!
"Dear Sugar" is such an amazing book. I was gifted the book in a very dark time in my life and I read it cover to cover. It gave me a new perspective on loss, love, and figuring out life. Good read good pick.
I read the hunger games in one day during a hurricane so truly a perfect time to circle back to it
Girl I could listen to you talk all day. Hugs from afar.
i've been watching your channel for years and read SO many of these books because you've recommended them in other videos! and now i'm so excited to re-read them again :) thank you for these recs!
These are some AWESOME book suggestions! I love love LOVE your book recs and reading suggestions. With all this extra time on our hands lately, we might as well look into some great new reads. In my own book talks, I personally love reading some engaging excerpts and giving a bit of info about who the characters are and how the plot caught my interest. Keep up the great work!
you made me want to read every single one of those books.
You’ve just inspired me to do a reread of The Hunger Games. They’re not happy or particularly comforting, but they were books I truly loved as a teenager and reading them feels like I’m wrapping myself up in a giant blanket of nostalgia
Ariel, when you talk about books you love, you don’t just talk about them. You embody them, and talk about them with such passion that it makes me wanna go to the bookstore ASAP or order them online! You are the reason I love Orwell. I would’ve never picked him up otherwise. I mean, even if I didn’t end up liking a book you recommended, just the way you describe your love for the authors and it’s contents, makes me wanna read and then some. Thank you for being a genuine person and for being yourself. To me personally, you are unlike any other booktuber and I follow a lot of them, and even though I do love certain booktubers, I never comment, but with you, I just had to ! I guess I’m trying to say that I’m so grateful for you and your videos. They truly encourage me. ❤️
Sc0rpion S0ul this is such a beautiful comment!
My mom asked today for recommendations for my brother so we can support our local independent bookstore, I already got 3 books from them a week and a half ago and plan on ordering a gift for a friend there, I’m glad we’re both supporting it😂
Thank you for this! :) Also just wanted to note that this week I got it approved to WRITE MY MASTERS DISSERTATION ON THE HUNGER GAMES AND HARRY POTTER, and there is a surprising amount of legitimate (whatever that means) scholarship on THG. It's FASCINATING.
A book that I've read a couple of time that I never am able to stop reading is The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzie Lee. I don't know, it's just a funny, wild ride that I fall in love with every time I let my eyes fall over the pages.
I'm currently half way through this and holy crap it's wild!
Just listened to the audiobook! It was such a tease with the semi-erotic scenes lol had me on the edge of my seat every time
Hillary Barbour omg I looooove the audiobook!! 🥰
Lucas I’ve also re-read this like twice and it’s just great I love it more every time.
Rebekah Grace ya I was gonna keep going with the sequel but my library app didn’t have it 😢
this is the first video of yours i've seen and honestly i love the way you approach/review/recommend books!! will def be watching more, and love your accent lovely!
This video did not disappoint. Each book sounded like something I would loveeee and you and your channel has instantly become one of my favorites!!! Because of the way you simply talk to us and have such a conversational and thoughtful channel!
i’m definitely not into golf, but I’ve also heard Albatross mentioned in a podcast and now from you - going to have to give it a try. great video!! thank you 😊
A Girl with the Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier is one of my absolute fave and I have never seen a CZcamsr talk about it. It might be up your alley, Ariel. :) It was addicting and insightful I still think about it to this day.
hi ariel!! i’ve been binging ur entire channel and i love the way u talk and ur mentally stimulating conversations/rants!!!!!
I am genuinely sooo happy that I found your channel. I love your personality and I can relate to you about how you feel and talk about books.
I have a never ending “to read list” and you’ve just sold me on a bunch more books to add to said list. 😅
Finished reading Aristotle and Dante on a bus, and Ariel... I was weeping on a public bus and that ain't cute. Such a good book!
i have noted down so many new reads to add to my tbr!! thanks ariel for this much needed video
This video got recommended to me and I haven’t picked up a book in a while so I though “let’s see what she’s got” and I immediately subscribed. You have an incredibly effortless personality and I was super engaged!! Thanks for the recommendations 💛
Bingable CLASSICS recomendation: "Star Rover" by Jack London. In a way it's perfect for quarantine and escapism - it's about a man in a prison in 1890s, who to escape the tortures of straight-jacket mentally travels back to his previous lives, where he's a sailor stranded on deserted island, a Viking who happens to become Roman officer and befriend Pontius Pilate, young boy in America whose community is religiously persecuted, etc.
I couldn't put this book down first time I've read - I remember sitting next to kitchen table at 3am and flying through pages❤
Viktoriia Green sounds like my kind of novel!! And I love Jack London!
@@wrinkleintime4257 I hope you will enjoy it! It can be overwhelming at times (as prisoner descrives his experience of what basically is a torture), but it's a great read overall! There is lot of interesting ideas and reflections in each "life", and the plot is also very engaging!
you always make me so excited about books
Thank you for this video Ariel!! With malice sounds right up my alley, will definitely look into it! Thanks for uploading videos and keeping us company during these times! ❤️🌸
Ariel! i missed you book videos so much! you speak so genuinely and your recommendations are rich and extremely amazing! and i want to read these books after the amazing way you promote about them
16:43 Your nails matching "So you've been publicly shamed." Too good! :')
Okay but show us what you were painting doe
Right I'm really curious about that
Hahaha it was a raised garden bed 🙈 I’m making a GARDEN
I stumbled upon your channel whilst trying to make my reading list for 2021 and boy am I glad I did. You had a lot of suggestions that were unique from others - BUT what really surprised me was how much I like your energy and enthusiasm for books! You are a joy to watch and I'm looking forward to checking out your other content :)
I just added all the books I haven't read yet to my tbr because you made me so excited to read them! Also, I love the color of your nail polish!

2. A Woman of No Importance: Sonia Purnell
3. G.O.T. Book series: George RR Martin

I still haven't found a book quite like The Hunger Games 💜
You recommended a book by a Norwegian author I haven't heard of?? I'm absolutely shook and very much pleased. Thank you!
Your short descriptions of each book is so well done and your energy is wonderful :)
Best books about compassion & empathy: The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns
Isabella Esposito I read the Kite Runner for school two years ago and it bothered me so much that like half of the class didn’t read/ hated it :(
I love the kite runner so much. My friend and I just fell in love with Hassan's character
YES OMG
We read it in grade 10 for english and we loved it
The Kite Runner made me bawl my eyes out. The story still stays with me even years after reading it.
Sometimes i just keep watching book reccomendations instead of reading. I would litterally have 50 books on my tbr and then i go like "mmm i have some free time oke time to find some more books to read"
HPJOO Editz I do the same thing! 😂 One way I’ve gotten past that, a little, is to download the free sample on Kindle. It often makes me want to either forget about or go purchase the book.
Thank you for making such a wonderful video Ariel! I really needed this.
Oh my, Ariel, your enthusiasm really inspired me, now I have to go and read all your recommended books. Thanks for the video!!! Stay safe!
I recommend Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh, little fires everywhere by Celeste Ng, The Plague by Albert Camus, the ocean at the end of the lane by Neil Gaiman and Wilder Girls by Rory Power 🤎

THANK YOU FOR THIS LIST. SENDING HUGS
I see Ariel on my feed and I immediately click the video!!! LOL I've been following you for years, I feel so happy that you've kept your essence since the beginning. I remember I binge watched your previous videos when I found your channel.
This was so interesting to watch, I love how passionate you are about books. it really comes across and makes the video even more enjoyable!
I love how she laughs to almost every book she recommends 😂
I love the book “the mysterious Benedict Society”
I love your excitement about these books. Definitely makes me more interested and eager to read!!
So you’re the first booktuber that I actually Love your recommendations - granted I’m new to this - but love your taste!!! Thank you
one of the best books i’ve ever read was “we were liars” it’s AMAZING i can’t say much bc i don’t wanna spoil but it is a great read
This is a fantastic list, and I am starting The Hunger Games immediately!
Love your personality and the way you talk about books! Made me smile (and gave great recommendations) thank you!!!! :)
Omg I love your personality and the way you talk! These book recommendations are really good
oh my goodness. Your passion for these books makes my heart so happy.
OMG Cheryl Strayed also does a podcast by the same name (Dear Sugar) and on the same content on NPR. I didn't know she had a book.
I love the way Ariel holds books? It reminds me of the librarian in elementary school reading to the class (one of the best parts of my childhood).
This is my favorite book recommendations video! I love your enthusiasm. I just started “With Malice” last night and couldn’t wait to start it again today. Thank you and I’ll be checking out some of the others. 🌸💕
Me: "having over 40 books that I haven't read on my shelfs, and also just order 16 new books" I dont need to add more books for my next read
Also me: "sees a book recomend video" well I guess just one more recommendation...
U make me jealous dude!!!!
Literally same i am still adding new books to my list
I was about to start rereading The Hunger Games. Now I'm definitely doing it 😅👍🏻🇲🇽
You have such a fun way of describing books! I love it
I swore you were going to include My Year of Rest and Relaxation. I just ordered it because of your recommendation (along with a puzzle and legos) and I can not wait to get my hands on it.
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
Anyone else feel like we’re watching broadcasts from The Capitol as we’re stuck in our homes in one of the Districts as all these celebrities are going live from their mansions online everyday??
I can’t be the only one seeing hunger games similarities during this crazy pandemic lockdown?
Hillary Barbour sameeee except I think of movies like contagion 😷
another fiction book you'll fly through: more than this by patrick ness. it's really nice and keeps you on the edge of your seat. nice concept, nice characters, action packed etc
Just stumbled across this video and ordered every single book you recommended. MY LIBRARY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME! I love hearing from people who love books and it's clear that you're squarely in that category of bibliophiles. Thank you for sharing your passion!
I love the way you Express yourself about the books. You are fantastic and you put a smile on my face. First book I am going to read is Tiny beautiful things. Sounds like my type of book🤗
