Last Life SMP is an SMP started by Grian, with players like Mumbo Jumbo, Etho, LDShadowlady, and Smajor1995. It's - as Etho put it - an odd mix of a Social and PvP Minecraft game. This isn't a HermitCraft or EmpiresSMP video, but it's pretty close! This video is updated until Last Life Episode 5, and therefore will have spoilers up until then!

One thing to note when using scar and Lizzie as case studies is that they both got extremely lucky with lives scar starting with 6 and Lizzie winning 4 extra in you bet your life.
with you bet your life she basically started with 7. she did use them good though 1 for ren and 2 for the table which became 15 diamonds and she still has 4 left.

So that genius play? Welp.. Not quite. Also I noticed Last Life is still experimental and random. I know for sure Last Life is based more than just competition. It's based on scenarios and extra stories. Every player has a mind of their own. Anything can happen. It's all up to the wit or how players play their role. Grian is of course plays the way he wants to. Ren is more based on character. Now Martyn is something else entirely. He has the wit like Grian, but he likes to play with a twist to his role.
We all can agree Scar is an incredible actor.
Remember when he sucks at making deals? Look at him now
I know! He must be using a silver tongue crystal with all of his persuading. I’m not even worried that scar is on red as he can just persuade people to give him a life, by deals or threats

Grian was insane. While he didn't win he took down 3 red names in a single session and a huge number of yellow and green names. He created an army of dogs which caused several attackers to run away in fear for 'the boys'. He's also heavily involved with the red names schemes even before he became one himself making it so that it was easier for him to be quickly recruited and trusted amongst the red names once he became one. The only reason he suddenly was at a disadvantage was because the other original red names or red names who he had befriended like lizzy died. If he won the gamble and his teammates survived long enough he could have easily taken the win
By your logic, I think Pearl has managed this game fantastically. While she has traded away some lives, she's gotten good alliances out of them, ones that seem likely to last because the people she traded them to had no other place to go at the time. Scott and Cleo both owe her and trust her, and while Pearl does have a target on her back now as one of the only dark green lives (we'll see how long that lasts, I haven't seen today's episode yet), her alliance is probably the strongest alliance in the server at the moment.
The shadow alliance seems to be pretty strong too, and team BEST is doing its own thing. I think the southerners are the most likely to break up, there are just too many people in that alliance and I don't think the trust is actually there.
I'm actually of the opinion that either Pearl or Martyn wins last life :D
@@Ani Of those two, I'd favor Pearl since Martyn is known for being very good in lots of areas, especially PVP. He even had a bounty on his head in 3rd Life

In my opinion Pearl's strategy with trading lives is the smartest. Pearl and scott have traded lives twice now, once when scott helped pearl on the first day, and second when scott lost a life to joel. They recently gave cleo a life when she was added to their team. I see them as juggling lives with each other to equalize their team, but also loosing your own life is a loss at the total lives of the team. This will eventually make them more protective of their lives because it's for something more than just themselves. It remains to be seen what happens if any of them go red, but it seems this just means that they'll forever be on their good sides.
This works because Scott, Pearl and Cleo have all been unswervingly loyal to allegiances. Pearl is more of an unknown as a newcomer, but Cleo and Scott were ride or die for their groups in the past. Their group dynamic is also very friendly and trusting. Other groups have used lives to bolster their alliances, but they have ended up still shaky due to having less trustworthy members. The BEST group is looking very unstable now thanks to Bdubs. The shadow tower group has BigB and ShadowLady didn't really remain on good terms after the last episode either. There are other very trustworthy people floating around like Ren, Tango and Grian (under the right conditions), but their group dynamics aren't the same.

@@Ani yeah it’s been used as a silent alarm system for a bunch of different player prisons. When it detects that there’s an escape attempt somehow it’ll suffocate a dog on 1 health which will alert the guards and only the guards as well as teleporting them there with a stasis chamber

I think you're massively underselling the series, although there are definitely some less serious moments, the dramatic betrayals and constantly shifting alliances give it depth that very few stories can.
It's really disappointing that so few people actually appreciate how in-depth last life is, a bit of a tr-AHA-gedy (I'm sorry)

Actually the key is to pretend that you’re wifi was down for 10 sessions and when there are 5 people left. You kill them all and win
Fair, but that's no fun, now is it? Plus, then you'll be unarmored, unarmed, and without knowing the lay of the land. And everyone else won't have those weaknesses.
The best tactic imo is to be a red name from very early on. Just don't talk to others much and get strong. Being a red name grants you certain protection from being and being killed by the boogeyman. Also people are less likely to kill you
Not very good for content so we won't probably see this done by CZcamsrs. It's a great plan though.

I mainly watch HC and Last Life so I appreciate this video :) To add, a renamed wolf that dies doesn't show in chat...for Java edition. This works for any mob you name/tame in bedrock edition though

But it doesn't show up in the general chat, sir, it shows up in YOUR chat. Nobody else even sees it. So when you thought you were fooling the entire server, you were really only fooling yourself.

even if it did work, the name would show up white. Those who are aware of that detail won't be fooled, and everyone else will instinctively check the list afterwards for the colour change.

The problem with the dog strategy is that when your name is displayed in chat in last life it also displays the color but the dogs will have a white name
The death message of a dog only appears for it's owner, not the whole server. So if you rename your dog and kill it, you'll be the only one who saw the death message.
This is an interesting concept tho. You could pull off some interesting plays with it, for example:
To start a war between clan A and clan B (you're from clan C), you could find the dog of someone from clan A, rename them to another person from clan A (who you know has 5 or more lives). Then, when you know the dog owner is alone, you and your teammates (clan C) burn the dog in lava, and all write in chat stuff like "RIP" and "OMG" (the rest of the server who didn't see the fake death message would be like "what happened?". But that's also a normal response to seeing a death message, so nothing should seem out of the ordinary to the dog owner).
You go up to the dog owner, tell him that you saw that a guy from clan B killing his friend, and that you're willing to help him get revenge. You give him some TNT minecrats, and tell him to try trap their base, while you'll distract clan B. Then you go to clan B and tell them that clan A has declared war on them and is trying to trap their base.
Next thing you know, clan A and B are mortal enemies, while you can just calmly sit and enjoy the chaos.

Also yes, Scar is one of the most cunning people alive. He is actually a shady egotistical dude but uses his charm to manipulate people and get what he needs, and boy he is the absolute best at his job!
Step 1: get dark green name
Step 2: get all the sugarcane
Step 3: hide
Step 4: get at least 2 cows
Step 5: make a farm
Step 6: steal the enchantment table
Step 7: never let anyone know where you are (constantly move bases or something)
Step 8: farm wither skeleton heads and soul sand
Step 9: make the greatest announcement known to man to trade
Step 10: if no one agrees threaten to blow up everything
Step 11: blow up everything anyway
Step 12: somehow stay alive
something else: it should be the primary goal to destroy the enchanter early on and to get an ender chest. if you get the enchanter for a while and are able to make an ender chest( and a bit more) worth of enchanted gear, burn that thing first chance you get. this gives you a monopoly on enchanted goods and will make you incredibly wealthy right of the bat. while enchanted tools might be really worthless in last life, enchanted weapons vs not enchanted weapons/ armor will give you a slight edge over everyone else and if enchanted goods are limited, then you will have a resource that people are gonna be willing to trade in their lives for at some point.
in the goal of achieving monopolies on certain goods you should also actively break monopolies that other players hold. ie: when someone attempts to get a monopoly on nether warts or sugar cane or cows or something, then distribute that good on the server for free. if you hand everyone sugar cane as a "good will gesture" you break enemy monopolies while appearing trustworthy and friendly to everyone else. this will make it easier to recruit other players as meatshields and increase your power with your enchanted weapons monopoly.
In Last life, burning the enchanting table respawns it at spawn. I can’t remember where I heard this, but it was one of the members.
@@JesseX7 burn spawn. It should be a goal to spawn a wither there anyways just to kill anyone who respawns there indefinitely.
Yeah but they already spawned the server’s wither and no one seems to plan on getting anymore skulls this late into the season. Plus it wouldn’t follow the sort of gentlemans rules they have on the server, where they don’t really spawn kill. Except the trap Pearl set, but she wasn’t even there for that one since her power went out.

Lore is a strong word, Adventure Time has LORE. What this series has through improv is MEANING, if it was scripted, you wouldn't take that meaning with you in the same way.

In 3rd life, Scar was the first to reach red, but someone survived till the last 2, and basically let Grian take his life.
They need Scar as he's an incredible actor.

10:12 if a dog with a name dies, it will appear in the chat only for the person who owns the dog, not for the entire server. And even if, people when they see that someone has died, they check the tab right away to see if you are red, so if they remembered that you were, let's say yellow, and you're still yellow, they will know that you are lying.

I don’t know why people think the dog-kill trick works,
but if YOUR dog dies (no matter what name it has) only YOU will get the death message.
Pretending you died won’t work if you are trying to use this dog trick.

Building a death trap won’t work, because the world spawn won’t decide your spawnpoint. Killed players will respawn in a certain area around the world spawn. If you are trying to build a box you will need a LOT of obsidian (wich take long to mine), and you will need to make 4 walls, a floor and a roof to prevent escaping.
the first one - yeah, i was made aware of this about 5 minutes ago lol, completely my error
the second - even if the obsidian box doesn't work, the concept still remains. trap their beds, if not spawn, similar to how grian and joel did to scar! :D
I want to see the last player winning by spawning 10 wither on the map and just skedaddle to his obsidian bunker.
1 problem , only the owner of the pet can see it's death message.

this is almost all of what i thought of,not to look powerful,look weak,save the most important items such as your best armor,so that when your red,you will be powerful
Lives are a commodity which are constantly becoming more and more rare. This means that trading at the beginning is vital as it is when the resource is most plentiful and least valueable.
The a big flaw with the last segment is that when you die it shows the color of your lives and another flaw is if your light or dark green in tab you would go down a color and people can catch on easily
Hopefully Joel's trap doesn't kill himself in the end

i think scar still has a big chance of winning because in the end game if its a 1v1 thats either grian cleo or joel they cant do anything and kill him because its not allowed in the contract, he only said to bdubs and etho that they can kill in 1v1 the others he didn't say anything about
Considering how Grian said theres more than 2 boogeyman someone had have to be out of the game
i doubt that as it wouldn't be ideal on a content creation standpoint, they'll probably go after someone with the most lives (like the galaxy duo scott and pearl). being yellow and red basically safes you from the boogeyman curse as people wouldn't want to disadvantage you on the content creation standpoint lol (being a good character and actor also does the job as well lol)

All of the other stuff sounds great, however the last tactic might backfire if they realize that you aren’t really losing lives.
Scar terrifies me, his crystals are obviously fake but somehow they actually work.
When grian and impulse tried to threaten him into giving them lifes, he somehow managed to turn around the deal into them selling their souls for his lifes.
He probably has pacts with everyone on the server that stops them from attacking him.
Not only that but also the fact that after curing everyone and repairing the server with the cost of him being in red life, the moment he went back to not being red everyone started dying again and turning to red
When scars first go on south on episode 5 and almost died he still had the crystal but he give the lucky luck and boogeyman detector to mumbo later he died on ethos hand on a boogyman kill( he no longer hold the boogyman detector crystal), then he died on the same trap at the south lands( he no longer hold the lucky luck crystal) I think scar crystal work well. And it hits him hard.
Some people headcanon that frian offed himself at the end of 3rd life from survivors guilt, this series is very dramatic lol

the worst mistake in this video is that the death message of the dog will only be shown to the owner of the dog and that people will notice when you lose a life and still have the same name color
what i would do early game is get as many diamonds i can and then head straight into the nether and try to live in the nether somewhere that they wont go.
One tiny problem in your master plan, if your dog dies it will only show up for you, not the other players.

I honestly thought up a similar tactic myself and I am quite interested in if you were playing a game of last life with people who saw this video how you would play it?
Maybe to avoid the dog problem of it only showing up on your chat is that you name a dog from each player on the server your name and kill like one or two when you make each trade. People might think your death glitches and only shows some people when you die.

I think the reds will systematically take out every green and yellow names. Some of their plans will backfire (some already have) but in the end the reds will fight each other, it will descend into chaos, and hopefully Grian will come out on top. I want Grian to win so bad. He was so close last season, but scar ultimately was too endearing to kill.

Nice video, but there's one flaw in your plan. You are the only one who can see the death messages of your pets. The others will not be able to see it. Also, even if they could see it, if they checked tab between the life transfer and then "death message", they would know that something doesn't add up, and that something is your number of lives.
