How to unlock your BMW 328i convertible trunk

- Here's a fix for somebody having a hard time unlocking their BMW 328i convertible trunk this video explains it all... A friend of mine showed me how to do it and it worked so this is my video

The reason this did not work for me is that my trunk latch was bad. What finally opened it was a good hard push on the trunk release button.
Sometimes it is better to be lucky than skilled. Thanks for all the tips and feedback. I expect cycling my top will go better.

Same problem. I put the motor back together and the gear keeps popping out. It needs a new motor. The motor is in the trunk to the left. Driver side.
@@bryceharr4276 after you pull out the fuse he mentioned. Unlock your car with your key on the driver door. Unlock it like 3 times or so. I guess start with locking it then unlocking it 3 times. Should work.

i’m sooooo late but my 328i e36 trunk isn’t opening, which messes with the convertible top. i’m unable to get to the battery, seeing as its in the trunk, and that’s what’s not opening. any advice?
i literally have the same car and problem mine is a bmw 323i convertible 98 my trunk won't open all not even with the key. so will this help?

I tried this on my 1998 BMW 328i Convertible. I had to put the key in the trunk key hole, turn left and push in the trunk button to open the trunk. After that, I put the fuse #7 back in, but it then locks the trunk and you can't unlock it anymore. the key fob locks and unlocks the doors, just not the trunk. Anyone know why? and how to fix this?
I did pull out fuse 7 still not working.

when im pulling the fuse out, the locking system wont respond at all. how come is urs working without a fuse??

@@ronnin2011 well that works for me I think the fuse is only there to stop the breakers if something happens...
When I take the fuse out it works but then when I open the trunk I put the fuse back in
my central locking will not operate without fuse 7 in place either .. put it back & no problem apart form my boot will NOT open with or without Key .. and cannot turn the Key to the Left to release the service locking mechanism IF that is the reason -- very frustrating
