What they are using in the video is a heat tool NOT a hair dryer. It's what we use to melt embossing powders on paper etc. You are meant to hold it that close and keep moving it.
Your hair dryer will not get hot enough to work so don't give up yet.
Look up embossing powder heat gun on Amazon.

You can also put down an empty toaster (like you would to cook bread) and hold the paper over the toaster, I used to do that for embossing when I didn’t have access to my heat gun 😅

That wasn't a hairdryer in the other video, it's a heat gun, it's used in crafting, it concentrates the heat rather than using hot air in a hairdryer, if you look up heat embossing you will see. Hope this helps.

Not sure if anyone has already translated for you, but on the pen at 4:47 it says "if you get it hot, the ink will rise/bubbleup", and between the arrows it says "press here to use", so you should squeeze it to get smoother, thicker ink line~
These are for kids, and I don't think heat guns are common here in Korea, so I think a hair dryer should be used to heat it up, but maybe needs a thicker ink applied to work better ^^

I think it is raised in some areas because the ink is thicker in some areas. I had some similar pens as a kid and it was mostly for drawing because you need to be slow and sort of “build up the ink” instead of having thin lines. Try doing it slower with thicker lines of ink aka squeeze more ink out ❤️

It’s sold on amazon and it says that you need to use an embossing dryer which gets hotter and is for that purpose rather then a hairdryer! 😊 so if you wanted to use it you’d have to get an embossing dryer

When I was in middle school, around 2002-2004 I had similar pens but they were called spider pens by Crayola

Do you want to write and then blow dry without it drying first before you blow dry it

So I watched a few other videos they used hair dryers but they had a lot more ink on the paper! You hold it really close and it will eventually end up working.

You should try those out if you can still buy them, theyre a lot of fun!

Bunny, could you please try this out again either with the heat tool or microwave, as the comments here suggest? Would love to see if you can get the effect to work if you apply more heat 🤔

I'm half korean and live in korea but I've never seen this kind of pen before! looks interesting hahaha. anyway, the instructions at the back say to apply heat after you draw on a paper. and it also says that it will rise up even though you apply heat on it after the ink dries out :)
And I searched for some videos in Korean, most of them squeezed out quite a lot of amount of ink on the paper, like a thick layer of coloring then they used a hair dryer to heat it up for some time until it really rises up like popcorn. if you can copy & paste this -> 팝콘펜

Some of those guns can reach a to 1800゚ Of course if that's what it takes for this project it's not very kid friendly. So i get why these aren't really that fun Thanks for the awesome video

What they use in the video is called a heat gun its not a hair drier. Its made for melting or heat drying things on paper! Artists use it to dry paint super close to paper all the time! It's totally safe to use that way but it is Extremely hot and shouldn't be touched by people, animals or directly on the paper
