  • Scripture writing is the simplest way to completely transform your Bible study life. By simply writing scripture in your prayer journal or Bible journal you can find a new joy & appreciation for the scriptures and go in-depth studying the Bible by scripture writing! Whether it's in a scripture journal(a specific journal just for writing the Word), Bible journal(writing the scriptures in your Bible, itself), prayer journal(pray/writing the scriptures) or war binder(making it a part of your daily prayer/Bible study life)- I suggest you try it today!
If you are new here, HI! My name is Faith and I am a mom of two toddlers, full time seminary student, and pastor's wife. I love Bible studies and bible journaling and could do it all day long! This is my passion- to study and love the Word and then to capture it here, not to just show you how to faith a life, but to encourage and equip you to live a life of faith!

In one of my university classes, the professor showed us some really old bibles and songbooks. The most impressive was a complete handwritten copy of the Statenvertaling (basically the dutch equivalent of the KJV). Not only was it the complete Bible, but it was also illustrated! It really inspired me to start writing scripture more as a form of reflection.
Anytime I am asked to write a poem for a special church service, I always write out all the scripture readings of that service before starting.

My greatest understanding is when I scripture write thru an entire book. Asking questions as they come into my mind or making observations of things I notice or can relate to. My thoughts are always either boxed off or in another color pen. I learn a lot this way.

@@HowtoFaithALife I use a planner with daily sections to write mine out. I've been doing it for 3 years now and it's been life changing. The planner helps me to stay consistent because the date prompts me to do it first thing in the morning while in my prayer and Bible time. I've grown so much from it. I tried for so long to find a study method that worked for me. In the end I have a verse of the day which I write out and then write in another 3 translations. It really helps me to understand as often it's quite key words that are different but flesh out the meaning. I then write my summary or my thoughts on what I've learned. Studying just a verse or two at a time works better for me than doing a chapter or so. Pumped to hear that you do something similar!! Thanks always for your great insights and the time you spend on these! Hugs from New Zealand.

I highlight. I sometimes notate in the margins. But the thought of keeping a scripture journal never occurred to me until one day when I was cleaning the church and went into the Seminary room. Seminary is our church's high school gospel study class that takes place on school days, typically before school starts in the morning. Some of the kids had left their scriptures in there along with journals that were each labeled as "scripture journal." I had no idea what that was for. I don't know why I never thought to ask the Seminary teacher, but I didn't. You explained it to me very well. Thank you.

I love writing out scriptures and memorizing them and then doing some art layout, or collage to represent what your reading or memorizing. I like to also pray out loud the verses to fit them into my life, and then also try to answer them with the Word, and speaking them in faith, and believing they will happen in my circumstances.
But sometimes it's hard not to feel overwhelmed in studying. I find that whatever I've just read...I try to look up the meaning of one or more passages in commentaries and certain words that I'm not sure about the meaning... Sometimes I find a whole different meaning, that wasn't there before. Especially in the Hebrew language, it can be astonishing how words literally have totally different meanings, that can change everything in a passage.
