Failure is one of the greatest, most underrated but ALSO most influential bands of all time. “Stuck on You” is still such a classic with a perfect sound to it.

Failure is what the Deftones were. I feel like the Deftones have finally broken that barrier of being an underrated, underappreciated band...finally. Now it's Failure's turn to make the leap.

It’s alot like velvet underground where in their influence far exceeds their commercial success.

Ken Andrews has been a hero of mine since seeing Failure open for Tool in the mid-nineties up in Winnipeg. Fantastic Planet is the most underrated album of that decade. His solo project ON still puts a massive smile on my face when listening to it. Thank you for the amazing guests and discussions - it’s really helped in these Covid uncertain times! Side note... “For Me This is Heaven” is the only song that came on the radio and instantly made me pull over while driving because I was crying my eyes out. Stellar work. “Futures” changed my life.
    Thank you Jim.

Another great episode! Really really enjoying them. It’s interesting to see how many people struggle with the self awareness/self consciousness issues when writing music.
Plus, one of many things that I love about Jimmy Eat World’s earlier work is the abstract lyrics that you have to decipher. Very creative and subconsciously driven.

i have recently begun doing the scat vocal thing on recent releases of mine, what i used to do was just listen to the instrumentals over and over until something came to me, but all in my head. how many cool things i would forget from one day to the next, who knows, but it's way easier now i can record on my phone any little idea that i get throughout the day.

Also, when you guys played Lucky Denver Mint at Live on the green in Nashville 2018, that was the first time I ever had a tears from watching a live concert. You guys rock!
Pss Failure can come too 😁
