    I actually printed one for a friend, costed $250 in resin and half my life in stress trying to assemble the thing, but other than that it was one of the easier model's I've ever printed.

    Also, it looks like your supports are all straight lines. In lychee there's a button under manual supports that lets you "parent" the supports so it combines close by ones so they have less straight lines and combine together at near the object, and then click bracing to give bracings between the supports to make them stronger. It all in all does decrease the amount of resin needed for the supports a tad bit, and also makes it stronger than just straight poles/lines.

    I don't yet have experience supporting big parts so take this with a cup of salt, but what I would recommend is orient that parts so the unseen sections are facing the build plate (looks like you already do that) then strictly use your heavies there to anchor the part. Every where else, use mediums where you would habitually put a heavy. Also, instead of peppering heavies all around, space them out and edit the tips using the fan method so you have one heavy tip and 4 or more light tips just to ensure the edge doesn't warp.
    If you're still using the free version of Chitubox, maybe look into the paid version of Lychee if you're going to be doing a lot of your own supports often.
    Can't wait to see the end result!

    Challenge:
    Take the smallest Warhammer 3D printed model you can find. Upsize to the size of a Warlord Titan, and then cut it up so it fits on the smallest printer you have, using Luban3D.
    I don't work for Luban, I've just seen how great the software program is, and partially what it's capable of.

    I'm dying man. Intentional or not.
    That being said, dope printer. I have the files for one of these, BUT I don't have a resin printer. Debating on waiting for one, or if fdm would do.

    Only advice I can give is that when you hollow chances are you have some drainage holes right? Most likely in undersides of areas that won't be seen, like the connection/gluing areas right? Well, put some heavy supports that connect to the inside. Obviously you still need to support the rest of the model but this way you can sneak in some really strong weight holding supports that will absolutely leave nasty marks but the marks are on the inside of the model and you'll never see them.

    Love your videos , very fun. The one where you explained how to print was what finally convinced me I could do it myself. So after someone getting me a generous birthday present, and 60+ hours of tutorial videos, I think I have only had 1 failure so far, and one fep puncture. I do hate changing those tho so many screws. Would like to join the discord later but I am very broke atm. I am sure there are lots of tips that could improve for me, I tend to oversupport too because I woudl rather waste more on supports than reprints. Thanks for making it fun.

    What were your bottom layer exposure times for your mega 8k prints? They seem to have come off the bed pretty nicely and I still haven't dialed that setting in yet so I'm way over exposing still.

    Question for you about the Anker FDM printer you’ve been using lately: how does it do with smaller models? The precision of it that you highlighted as being close to a resin printer is fascinating, and I’d love to see its performance to see if it can match a resin printer with a guardsman or space marine model

    Hello Battle Brother. A few months back you did a very comprehensive video about what you thought of as entry, intermediate and advanced level printers and kit. Now you have more experience with different types of kit I was wondering if you were thinking about doing an updated version of the video?

  • @matchugg547
    @matchugg547 Před 10 měsíci +3

    Supports. Firstly stop thinking of them as "supporting" your print like a FDM printer. Resin printers do not require the amount of supports you are using. Those shoulder pads you printed could have been printed with no supports. A simple idea that i use now to determine if i need supports or not is using the Y method. A resin printer will print the letter Y in any size with no supports. So if you have no angles greater than 45 degrees and or no overhangs that will start printing in thin air you will not need supports. Sure add a few where you may think you might have a problem but "Holy supports Batman" this is just not required for a resin printer.

    • @battlebrothersam
      @battlebrothersam  Před 10 měsíci

      I know what you mean brother but I'll be honest... I'd rather over support the living life out of this than deal with failures and cleaning everything and the delays

    • @matchugg547
      @matchugg547 Před 10 měsíci

      @@battlebrothersam but mate your supports are not doing anything remember your prints are printing upside down so your supports are more likely to cause your print to fail because of the extra weight you are adding to the print...yes if you were printing the right way up with a FDM printer I could undersatnd but all your supports are achieving nothing other than adding weight and wasting resin.....trust me over supporting prints that dont require supports will cost you more in time and failures than no supports

    I have a knight and a imperial tank thingy... the new bigish one no idea what its called, that suffered similar things to you. With the tank i managed to salvage it and it looks great, smaller bits keep snapping off though aha next time im making it ill make it more boring hatches closed etc etc.
    But yeau i printed a knight and i did not realise resin was trapped in some areas, so both arms inflated and are ruined. One was so bad i pulled it off, now i need to perform surgery and print off another arm, the other arm, is not so bad, i need to put some glue in and tie around some areas and like... push it back together once i clean out all of the resin.
    3D prints are the most frustrating thing.
    Lately im sick of pieces snapping off, and dents being made that im taking a break. I have decided until i paint and fix all of thr prints i have i will not be printing anymore.
    It really never ends ahah

    • @brianeno608
      @brianeno608 Před 9 měsíci

      That's also not Including all the failures. I printed a space marine tank and it was so poorly designed as in it was so badly designed in its parts that trying to assemble it caused my fingers to go through it ruining the entire bottle of resin and a week's worth of effort.
      Some tanks like the rhinos I got somewhere print so great and look so good.
      A thing I have started to do, is sorting my STL files, it's a huge task. Im mainly after 1:1 minis and I'm after them looking good and easy to print. So far I have found 6 stls out of thousands that fit that description.
