Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

You know the content is good when a middle aged IT guy from Toronto is excited about harvest season in Lowry, Minnesota. 🤯
I'm also a middle aged IT guy from the Northeast. I saw the video and I was like YAYYY HARVEST IS STARTING!! My favorite time of CZcams year. I was actually thinking a leaving a similar comment and saw yours lol
Hey chemical handling/ water filtration guy from the pacific northwest. Love this channel!
Hello there
I am young IT guy from Germany.
Also excited about the harvest season over there, ours has been finished a month ago already :D
Apprentice lineman from the southeast here sending some of that harvest excitement aswell. It's amazing to me all the different places and walks of life that have gathered in this community.
Good to know I'm not the only IT guy getting into Ag!
Zach: "Now we're an hour later..."
Jim: "Don't say a word!" 😂
Jim is a treasure!
Thats what she said
Are you a writing a book?
I'm always amazed by the "neighbor effect". All it takes is one guy at the coffee shop to say "I think I'm going to run a test strip", and next thing you know, the whole county is full of running combines.
I feel for your dad, I've been in the same boat. You want to go like normal, but it's just not time yet. Hope he feels better soon.
Go Blues! 🎶
Paul S this happens all over the world, my boss said we will start harvest next week as the barley is not quite fit , he drives down the road see our neighbour going and phones me up and say get the combine out !😂😂
All farmers want the "bragging rights" of being the first to start and the first to finish, no matter what era you're talking about.
👍🏽❤️
Zack isn’t the only one that’s excited about starting the harvest!
Same im just waiting for our cotten to be ready and we'll be ready
hahah!!!! and by excited, you mean...
Corny Peters ok ikoo kink B jo bio i
Hey our kid's here loves it. The oldest 2 drives the tractor and trailer.
I’m glad your dad is ok god
bless him
Hopefully dad's knee gets better.
God bless.
I hope to got his knee gets better
You can’t keep Dad out of combine. Take care of Dad.
Dang ole wheelbarrow in the sieves, they'll get ya every time
Can’t find the toaster? Check the combine
The best part of my week is when MMF uploads. I love the longer videos
Same
Our favorite too, Millennial Motherfluffer.
There never long enough for me

Zach is so excited he is lost for words! Tell your Dad to take his time with that new knee. I know it’s hard when it’s go time, but man if you let it heal right? It’s like your 20 years old again. It’s worth it!
Jim is a treasure "don't say a word"
Please try and keep the boss focused on the gains that the next two weeks will make with his knee and not push too hard now!
2020 was horrible until I watched Millennial farmer (I have watched it before but
This made 2020 better)
I watch Millennial Farmer, Larson Farms, Welker Farms and Cole the Cornstar I started watching Welker Farm videos at first then started watching the rest because I'm not a farmer but was always curious on how the equipment worked and now I like the whole thing. I'm have a lot more respect for Farmers and even more for Farmers that started working the land long ago with the small equipment that they had back then when tractors haad no cab and no heat or A/C it makes you think of all the hell the old timers had to go through and many were just making enough just to get by every year.
Nothing hurts as much as lynchpin bite on a frosty day ,still got the scars .
emotional scars mostly haha
@john mcgee Do you'r research before you correct some one Rshaped clips are called R clips google it .
Yeah I knew exactly. You don't forget that. And yet it still happens.
Hope your dad's feeling ok zak, stay safe everyone at harvest.
I grew up in rural Indiana and all my family and friends were farmers or somehow connected to farming. My uncle ran a big operation. 10,000 head of hogs and 15,000 acres. He basically used all his corn just for feed. If it was a good harvest he would have a few semi loads to sell on the market, but for the most part the hogs were the main consumer. In harvest I drove a JD 4440 pulling a grain cart. Easily 15 hour days. Or I was manning the dryers and the leg system. He had 22 of the largest bins made in two rows of 11. That life is in my blood. The smell of diesel, corn dust, fresh fall air and earth makes me happy. Now I punch a clock in a factory in the city. But where you are now is where you are. But that's why these videos are so attractive to me. Takes me back to a good time in my life
Oh the working words Jim must have said working on that tarp!!!🤬buckets🤬buckets 🤬BUCKETS
😎👍 〽️
Probably rhymed with smuck it..... or fother mucker
Hope your dad gets better as soon as possible. He’s a good ol man👍🏻
Man when you first set down in that first field I was freaking giddy as I watched that header start cutting! My heart was pounding lol. It's so satisfying to see after all the work it all leads up to that. Awesome Man!
If anybody ever asks you why people watch your channel here is mine and probably a lot of others.
Your channel is very informative and peaceful and easy watching compared to all the other crap that floods my feeds and flies across my TV screen constantly. Watching you sort of inspires me to be productive in my own way. -- but then there are some days when I’m just the old guy sitting on the bench, watchching andcritiquing other peoples work- which is sort of fun itself
I just got done watching the playground slap fight/presidential debates and I needed something inspiring before I can go to sleep
The parade of the big Green is starting! Always enjoy harvest Zack. Hope your dad is doing ok. Take care of him as I'm sure you will. Thanks for sharing.
Did you ever speak about the soil type specs, nutrients, micros, tough and easy weeds etc? Wish all the best for your dads recovery. My dad should go for an operation. I know the pain of seeing a loved one, that was our superman, held back by pain and injury..
“ they grow up so quickly “. Lolllll
My dad had both knees replaced about 7 years ago. Wished he would have done it sooner. Therapy is the key to full recovery.
Honestly I don’t have a clue about farming but I have always been fascinated by big machines so it all works for me
I could see the pain in your Dad's face stood bent over in front of that tractor and what did you do ....... nothing! Lol Bad Boy!
Hope Nate is recovering and hasn't done any permanent damage tweeking that knee.
Fingers crossed for a great harvest!
Honestly kinda happy harvest isn't going to be a swamp. But that means Jim has less of a chance of getting a tractor stuck.
Wishing your Dad well. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Jealous , over 100 years my family has done what your doing ... Everything gone ... What your living is Awesome ... Hearing the sounds & watching you brings back great memories !!! I did do some wheat stalks , grass hay in Roseau , Green Bush , Warroad & Crookston ... About to start cotton here in Hale County , West Texas ... You are blessed ...
God's healing in your dad's knee. And wisdom for him to pace and take care of himself. I've had both knees replaced; wisdom in pacing myself is a continuing discipline.
ive known six people had knee replacement, all six had second surgery told to walk early,
Dads license plate just says NATE! Love it straight to the point😂
He snagged that in the 70s the day they came out with custom plates!
thankyou for what you do. Farmers are the reason we are all alive.
Glad you have Jim as the comic relief on such a serious channel....
When I worked at RDO in kindred I specialized in working on combines... After doing all the repairs to a machine I hated going out and turning the separator on for the first time.... luckily never did leave a tool in one or have the concaves adjusted wrong lol
I would recommend putting battery disconnection switches on those R series tractors. We did that on ours and haven’t had a dead battery since.
We have it on a couple machines and it hasn't helped a bit 🤣
Could do it yourself. On a car you pull the negative cable and put a test light in there to see if there is a draw. If there is, start pulling fuses until you find what is causing it. Dunno if tractors have a similar fuse box though.
The farmer I operate combine the last 3 years traded the 640FDs for 740s this year. What an improvement.
For the uninitiated, this is a thorough tight operation, and you guys feed a nation via food grains and consumables. Admirable to watch.🔛
Oh no hopefully dad feels better and your season gets better yields
Both have been happening in the couple of days since this video, thank you!
Hope your dad feel better. Good to see him back.
You know I think about the only thing that would make that bin cleaning more fun is if it was milo instead of corn.
Whenever I start playing one of your videos and my son, 5 years old now, hears your intro he comes and joins me. We have fun watching your videos together!
And my 2020 is all right now. Zach is in the field - my world is right!! Anything else is gravy.
Wow Zach, setting up and running the combine looked incredibly complex to someone who's never done it. I'm sure you have memory of the previous year that makes it easier. Also knowing how to adjust to the size and moisture of the bean to maximize yield. I'd have to go to "Combine School" to learn all that stuff!
Good wishes to your Dad. Get him rested!
Dad had his knee replaced around the same time, unfortunately he contracted MRSA and been in ICU since. Really happy your dad doesn't have to go through that.
Sometimes watching you takes my breath away. My Dad has been dead 55 years. You should cherish every minute of every day with him.
Now jim this season don’t get stuck this season.
Got our first field of beans in Leaf Valley done Thursday. Have a safe and successful harvest. 👍
As always, these Millennial Farmer videos are excellent!! They're always informative, never boring, and always make us cheer for their good farming!! And we hope Dad's new knee doesn't give him problems!!
I watched your video and noted when the hopper was full, a light blinks! Back in the day when I was on the farm and riding the platform of the JD 55H, we looked into the hopper and by golly, waved for the truck to come run along side to unload. I guess 65 years has definitely brought some improvements to the harvesting season, not to mention an air conditioned cab and no chaff down the neck or in your face. Life is good, ya? LOVE watching your channel. God Bless the tillers of land.
Your dad looks good after his surgery
praying that u have a safe harvest , love the vids
It’s been fun watching your videos bringing me up to date on the farming world I’ve been away from since my college years. I’m retired from the airline industry with 32 years flying over vast amounts of Americas farmlands in my many many thousands of hours airborne with the front office view. Perhaps you’ve seen a contrail from one of the Boeing’s I flew over the years. I always missed my time with my dad and the family farms of the 60’s and early 70’s doing the farm work for dad. I always held an interest in Ag and never forgot the smell of afresh plowed Iowa farm ground in the early spring! Thanks for all you do and keep it between the rows!
And so it begins......God bless us all. Another good edit, Becky. Thank you for all you do.
Awesome, this is by far the best farming channel on YT, your commentary makes this the best channel zach, explanation of everything is sweet, hopefully your dad gets better, good to see him in the videos, an sadly there probably won't be no
(HOLY BUCKETS) THIS HARVEST 🚜💪👌🇺🇲💯
I hope your dad's knee heals quickly. Tell him to take it easy and break that new knee in properly 😁
I hope your yields get bigger Zach. It was def a dry summer. Tell your old man to go easy let that knee let it heal or it’ll hurt for a long time. I like Jim in the videos he’s a good guy
Ahhh, the ol' knee replacement. Back in '08, I slipped on some ice when I got out of my truck and sprained the MCL in my left knee that I had replaced three weeks before. Fun times
Fun watching you “dial” it in.
Your channel is a treasure. Good luck in 2020 year and good harvest.
Harvest 2020!!!!!! good luck what an great time of year to be a farmer Its Go Time!!!
Thank you for sharing your farm life with us.
I’ve bean waiting for some harvest action
😂bean
first name last name I’m glad some people caught it lol
Hope your dad’s knee is feeling better
I sure hope the harvest turns out better than was forecast. Thanks for your description of the events of the day and night.
I love the shots from the different areas of the combine. SIDE NOTE> Please have Jim on the Off The Husk podcast!!!
561 bu/ac isn’t too bad we’re pushing 620 here in mississippi😂
Rookie numbers! We are at 800 bu/ac😅
I’m Mississippi too we’re only 615 bu/ac
Rookies where at 2100
Those are end-row numbers.
Rookie numbers here in Missouri we get 9990 bus/ac😂😂😂😅
There's a spaceship under your land sucking up all the battery power lol
"Don't say a word!". Loved that part.....🤣😂
It is so great watching harvest. As a city kid in small town ND, I truly appreciate the hard work farmers do on a daily basis. Keep it between the rows and pray for good weather.
Having had a knee replaced, I can tell you for sure not to twist it. There is a tab that keeps it aligned and you don,t want to break it. Tell your dad to always step down on the other knee first.
They are rough getting over the surgery but well worth it after you survive those first months.
“Cart again”
No, it’s a pullover, but thanks for noticing...
Tic tac, sir?!
@@MillennialFarmer pozdrawiam z polski !!!!
Great job as always. I hope your dad is doing well with his "new" knee. Good luck , God bless and stay safe.
I’m from Iowa, I love that farmers are always working hard. Keep safe.
Thanks for feeding me
Seeing your dad with a cain makes me sad :(, hope he gets better soon!!!!
Glad to see your Dad is getting out and about! Hope he keeps getting better and doesn't overdo it! I'm blessed to stop have my Dad around and he is the same way... he doesn't stop going unless he is sick.
Love the videos! Thanks for all the time and effort you guys put into them.
Zach, I hope your dad is ok. Hate seeing that. Stay safe harvesting.
Hey man best content love the tractors we just started corn harvest 2020 in Ohio!
Same here coshocton county
Hope your dad is OK, my wife has had both knees replaced and you need to be careful for about a year with how you get around.
Was going to comment the same. My bride had a knee done and it was a full year until she was back to "normal". I had a hip replaced and was back to full function @ about 3 months.
we are already 3 weeks into harvesting.... but i enjoy watching you guys while I'm in our combine. have a safe season.
I look forward to your harvest videos all year - thank you so much for sharing. Hope your dad has a quick recovery.
Keep up the good content
All the best for harvest 2020 . Look after dad tell him take it take it steady and rest.👍
Thanks for all your hard work, Becky.
glad you are finally harvesting, prayers for a safe and plentiful harvest.
Maybe an earth strap from the frame of the shed into the ground will help with the battery issues. Something's off with the magnetic field.love the longer vlogs .awesome.
He should get a tesla...it be hilarious to see his luck with batteries
I hope that your pop is ok, sending him lots of prayers.
Great to see beans taken off. The way to make money. Always feels good... hope your harvest goes smooth.
That sucks about your dad's knee. Hopefully the pop wasn't anything too serious.
Here comes the X9...............
Sure hope your dad's knee is OK, will be praying for him. Thanks for sharing.
GOD Bless You Sir!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope Your Dad Gets Well Soon ! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!!!!!
This harvest season find some Mike Rowe jobs and invite him over, could be fun.
That is why we buy red tractors and harvesters
Green always break
that is not true. big green equipment is not frickin overpriced like case
a year waiting for the millennial farmer's harvest and I can finally see it, thank you zack for sharing the harvest to the world, greetings from Chile and thank you for sharing this, which is so beautiful!
Thanks Zach! As always enjoying the videos and Off the Husk. Harvest time is great!
There's something on your farm draining all batteries..
👾
Alien force field?
Millennial Farmer I’d interrogate the dogs. They have a suspicious amount of energy.
BALES hahah best comment buy far!😂
It's Jim. He's just hanging out in them, listening to the radio and charging his gameboy.
Need to get that boy in a combine or a tractor, get him going on harvest! 🙂
Great to see the respect you and your Dad have for each other. I have seen far too many sons of Farmers think that Dad is just a silly old fool, they rush to get him off the farm and do things their way, most often this ends up in a mortgagee and clearing sale
Folks will drive down the road passing farmers out working in the fields and say to themselves. wow that looks like a lot of fun. just sitting out there in the combine driving around. They don’t realize how much preparation goes into getting to that point of running the combine. To me in order to be a farmer you got to have a love and passion for it. If your doing it because you think there is money in it you will be extremely disappoint. Farmers are a very special type of people. Thank y’all for what y’all do.
