  • We finally kicked off our harvest for 2020! The weather is awesome and we have a few acres ready to go. Dad also tweaked his new knee getting out of a tractor. Son of a gun.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I'm always amazed by the "neighbor effect". All it takes is one guy at the coffee shop to say "I think I'm going to run a test strip", and next thing you know, the whole county is full of running combines.
I feel for your dad, I've been in the same boat. You want to go like normal, but it's just not time yet. Hope he feels better soon.

I watch Millennial Farmer, Larson Farms, Welker Farms and Cole the Cornstar I started watching Welker Farm videos at first then started watching the rest because I'm not a farmer but was always curious on how the equipment worked and now I like the whole thing. I'm have a lot more respect for Farmers and even more for Farmers that started working the land long ago with the small equipment that they had back then when tractors haad no cab and no heat or A/C it makes you think of all the hell the old timers had to go through and many were just making enough just to get by every year.

I grew up in rural Indiana and all my family and friends were farmers or somehow connected to farming. My uncle ran a big operation. 10,000 head of hogs and 15,000 acres. He basically used all his corn just for feed. If it was a good harvest he would have a few semi loads to sell on the market, but for the most part the hogs were the main consumer. In harvest I drove a JD 4440 pulling a grain cart. Easily 15 hour days. Or I was manning the dryers and the leg system. He had 22 of the largest bins made in two rows of 11. That life is in my blood. The smell of diesel, corn dust, fresh fall air and earth makes me happy. Now I punch a clock in a factory in the city. But where you are now is where you are. But that's why these videos are so attractive to me. Takes me back to a good time in my life

Could do it yourself. On a car you pull the negative cable and put a test light in there to see if there is a draw. If there is, start pulling fuses until you find what is causing it. Dunno if tractors have a similar fuse box though.

Also knowing how to adjust to the size and moisture of the bean to maximize yield. I'd have to go to "Combine School" to learn all that stuff!

Back in the day when I was on the farm and riding the platform of the JD 55H, we looked into the hopper and by golly, waved for the truck to come run along side to unload. I guess 65 years has definitely brought some improvements to the harvesting season, not to mention an air conditioned cab and no chaff down the neck or in your face. Life is good, ya? It’s been fun watching your videos bringing me up to date on the farming world I’ve been away from since my college years. I’m retired from the airline industry with 32 years flying over vast amounts of Americas farmlands in my many many thousands of hours airborne with the front office view. Perhaps you’ve seen a contrail from one of the Boeing’s I flew over the years. I always missed my time with my dad and the family farms of the 60’s and early 70’s doing the farm work for dad. I always held an interest in Ag and never forgot the smell of afresh plowed Iowa farm ground in the early spring! Thanks for all you do and keep it between the rows!

Maybe an earth strap from the frame of the shed into the ground will help with the battery issues. Something's off with the magnetic field.love the longer vlogs .awesome.

Great to see the respect you and your Dad have for each other. I have seen far too many sons of Farmers think that Dad is just a silly old fool, they rush to get him off the farm and do things their way, most often this ends up in a mortgagee and clearing sale

Folks will drive down the road passing farmers out working in the fields and say to themselves. wow that looks like a lot of fun. just sitting out there in the combine driving around. They don’t realize how much preparation goes into getting to that point of running the combine. To me in order to be a farmer you got to have a love and passion for it. If your doing it because you think there is money in it you will be extremely disappoint. Farmers are a very special type of people. Thank y’all for what y’all do.
