Subscribed. I love the sense of humour. People don’t realize how much effort and work goes in to a video like that. The chill style of editing is hard AF to get right and you “nailed” it...
I love this! Any excuse to get out the torch and burn some wood. A couple tips. When cutting the 2x2 lumber, use a stop block on the miter saw for perfect depth of cut every time. Alternate between 90-degree cuts and non-90-degree cuts. For sanding the chunks, use a belt/disc sander. Super fast. Colored stain applied with a rag would be much less expensive than spray paint. Titebond should bond the pieces to the mdf without requiring nails, but better safe than sorry. You can cut the time way down from 14 hours. For a day's work, you could make and sell these for around $400. Sell one a month and that's a nice car payment, or go one a couple great vacations for your efforts. These are excellent acoustic dpanels for musicians and podcasters.
Wow, aside from how cool the actual design and execution of the project was, your video was excellent visually and instructionally. You do good work. I look forward to seeing your other videos.
Thanks man! Someone mentioned in the comments to rip the angles first on the table saw and that’ll save all the back and forth on the miter saw. I would definitely do that next time!
It turned out amazing, great job! I've been wanting to build something like but wasn't sure how. This video is a perfect tutorial as well as an eye opener to how much time and work to build. thanks!
Thanks! Some smart people with left side brains in the comments mentioned that I could have cut all the angles first using the table saw and it would have saved time on the miter saw. I’d definitely do it that way next time 👍👍
You’re a funny guy Mr. Turner. I’ve been roped into making one of these because we didn't want to pay $1000 for $30 bucks worth of wood. I wasn’t sure if I was planning how to make this thing correctly, but this video has confirmed my genius (and yours).
I just finished making a one of these but slightly smaller and man that took a lot longer than I thought it would. Congrats to you for making it look so easy
This channel is gold man! It’s obvious the subs are gonna start climbing if they haven’t already. Video editing: gold. Humor: gold. Prevent forest fires hat and burn things with a blowtorch: GOLD!
I have made a piece like this and it was interesting to watch your approach. After rocking my saw back an forth for quite a while the way you did, my wife suggested ripping the stock down the middle at an angle and then just cutting them all to width - so much better! Funny - my verdict after making one of these was the same as yours: "Probably won't ever do that again" :) Cool video - now I'm inspired to find the footage of when I made that piece and put together a video, too. Thanks!
SimonMac holy moly that would have saved some time 😂 why do wife’s gotta do that?! Lol if you do get a video together let me know where I can check it out 👍👍👍
I was in Harbor Frieght laughing out loud. And playing it pretty loud. Because I just don't give a duck. Made my day man. The tedious sanding. Ugh. Talent and funny. Great work 👏 ! Adding laughter to this world is much appreciated. Keep on trucking. 💯💶
Hahah thanks! Happy to provide the laughs! Check out the other wall art I did, “The forest” I made a pretty cool sander that saved so much time. Just didn’t turn out well in the end lol 🤦♂️
This is like a combination of your {{destroyed}} wall art and diffuser. I love it. And as others have said, your video editing style is so engaging. I can't stop watching {{{{{{{AHHHHHH... ANOTHER YOU TUBE SINKHOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLEE}}}}
@@TMPK wish could send you photo. it ended quite well considering i had to ask somebody to cut small pieces and they didn't do all same, so i had to improvise the positioning. and my hand hurts from hand sanding and glue.. I'm now in the screwing part... and bytheway its f..... heavy as i used teak wood pieces ( that was easiest as pine here is expensive and pieces of teak are in every corner) i live in indonesia ;) thx really for inspiration. you guys are hip hip!
I have a million of these boards pinned and had high aspirations to build one until I saw this labor intensive video! Well done, it’s perfect! I won’t be trying 😂
just subscribed due to the sense of humour and and casual approach, but still ended up with a quality build at the end. great stuff! + willing to point out your own mistakes, always a plus, golden.
That’s awesome 👏🏼 I’m a fan !! you’re hilarious 😂 I’m inspired now ! I’m building my music studio at home and art like that would definitely look 👀 and work awesome there 👍🏼🎶🙏🏼 thank you 🙏🏼
Such a badass project. I’m totally making one of these. Not looking forward to finding out how I’ll screw up, but if it comes out looking half this good, I’ll be pleased. Also, I think I just made more comments on this channel than I have made in total in my years of youtube history. Let that speak to my zeal for your content, dude.
Just discovered your channel now a subbie, loving the humour such a natural comedian, I have a small hint for you maybe time to build a awning over shed entrance 🤣🤣🤣 beat those Mother Nature elements 😉😉 & may I say what a STUNNING PIECE OF ART 🍾🥂🙃
Great job! I am building a sound diffuser with wood and am gluing my blocks also. It's funny how close we live to each other and it was just a random CZcams search that found your video.
I had the same thought you had about in remaking a similar wood wall art. Being a complete amateur, it's good to see what steps that others with more experience might do the same/differently. I laughed when I watched you attach the sander to the sawhorse because I did the exact same after sanding about 30 of those blocks manually. I'm guessing you knew better to hold a firm grip because I didn't see any fly across the room like many of mine. HA. But I slightly cringed when I watch you turn the board over after gluing the pieces down because I expected them to fall off. I waited a full 24 hours before picking up the board and realized the glue was strong enough so I ended up not nailing, saving a good bit of time. Your art piece looks awesome!
Thanks bro. Check out the forest wall art thing i made. I invented a miniature drum sander thing that saved sooooo much sanding by hand time lol every thought in the end I had to smash it with a hammer lol
Awesome 👏🏾 I’ve been searching for a tutorial. I want to create one for my son who’s a gamer and he can get pretty loud. Your wall art is absolutely beautiful. I’m going to do my best and use your video as my guide. Thank you 😊
