Yes, he's not too bad. But as a German, I have to say I'm so sick of this. I just don't get why he has won. Nothing against the singer. But the song is just not good for eurovision. (In my opinion)

I'm from Finland and I think Isaak is amazing. I like his performance more than Ryk or any other.
ryk being dragged in juries despite easily having the best vocals and live is so questionable to me. bodine and ryk were germanys only opportunity to escape bottom 5 and they just fumbled the bag
The Jurys defo went with a The VOICE voting and not with a Eurovision SONG Contest. Ryk hat the best Song and the crowd was cheering like crazy in the studio after his performance.

@@flopjul4581 we Germans don't like Max a lot. The Televote was still on after the jurypoints - a lot of people voted for Isaak to prevent Max. Ryk was for sure out after the jury so a lot of fans powervoted for Isaak.

The voting system was strange. Because of the dubious votes of the juries, you could only prevent the very worst song from Max at the end if you chose the bad song from Isaak. As a German, I can only say that I'm slowly losing hope. Maybe next year!

To me, Ryk was the clear winner. But the jury votes were crazy, I think like five different artists received 12 points at least once? And Ryk got so surprisingly few.
After Ryk, all of Bodine, Galant and Isaak gave us a good performance (more involved than Ryk too, maybe that's a factor?), so I would have been happy with all of them. I don't think we gave ourselves the best chance to win, but I'm not unhappy with the selection and genuinely wish him loads of fun on the journey. None of us were expecting to win Eurovision anyway 😄
The 9th Song was a wildcard that was picked via a pre show that was produced for the VOD-media-library of the broadcaster
i reeeeeally don't understand how Ryk did that badly with the juries, i thought the song nailed all of the things juries are looking for.
Despite getting 12 points from Switzerland and Sweden, Oh Boy only managed to get 5th in Juries..... The other international juries really messed this up.
In Germany we call it "radiotauglich" (radio friendly).
I feel so sorry for him because he is a good musician but he will probably end up bottom right and might be disappointed even though it’s not even his fault it’s our stupid program that sends in music that doesn’t have a chance. Same with UK, because the UK and Germany aren’t the most loved countries in Europe (let’s put it that way) and so in an ocean of generic mainstream songs people would tend to vote for the countries they like better. For the UK and Germany to get up there you just cant send something like this. Last year's UK song was literally playing on repeat in my playlist but what I am trying to say is I know why obviously it didn’t do well, it’s just made to be „radioable“. But yeah as I said our (I’m German) program is such a bullshit. The hosts and the hippie guests and everything about it and also the international juries almost intentionally voting for the songs that don’t have a chance is so hilarious. And finally they literally showed what the juries voted before closing the lines so no wonder people would vote tactically. It’s just so sad and my rant absolutely doesn’t go against Isaak (in fact as a German I still wish him luck) but the program that is just idiotic but hey UK&Germany Loser buddies forever 🫶🏼
The UK was close to winning in 2022 and hosted last year... can't be that disliked

Thats what I said though ^^ I didnt say "hate" but just others liked more, I mean its a lot likelier that for example Italy would be up high no matter how generic the song is. In 2018 Germany was also up there but since then sadly either joke entries or just the radio stuff

@@stephan7h I don't care about results in Eurovision anyway, it's not like many of the songs that win are even that good. I still don't get the worship over Melodifestivalen and Sanremo. I know Sweden has its Nordic allies and Swedish pop is thought cool by some. And Italian is nice sounding. But none of those factors mean most of the songs are even decent.

Moin, I totally agree. Isaak is good, but I preferred Bodine too. Guess the votings from the jury and asked opinions while the open calls was the reason why Isaak got more votes than Ryk or Bodine.

I had no idea that Ich Kündige had even a loose emotional connection to the ESC spheres. It just appeared on my death metal dominating YT music automatic playlist out of the blue and I've been listening to it ever since. Your intro gave me the spark to actually search for it. I found the music video and cried around the bridge (I'm not joking, I'm hormonal AF)

I'd say, Isaaks performance was on par with Bodine and Ryk. However, it was a huge disappointment for me that the juries only gave 5 points to Ryk. Why the hell so many points to Issak? Do they want us to lose or what? 😂
Ryks song unfortunately is not accessible enough for the common German audience, that is why I hoped so much for the jurys vote. Now I just feel sorry for Isaak. He might get butchered in Malmö. He is such a great artist, a vocal powerhouse, but he has no career like LoTL he can just get beck to afterwards.

The weirdest thing is this final that the televote were just on during the jury vote and after it?? It's a joke. This song is not bad, but nothing that they can escape the bottom 5 with and even last place. The other countries with terrible q rate at least doing something to do better, but Germany remains on the bottom. Sad to see.

I'm baffled because there were strong contenders, but this is such a "middle of the pack" song. He has a great voice, but the song is very generic and forgettable. Tears Like Rain could have done well, and Oh Boy could have been top 10, but I don't think On the Run is going to crack the top 20.

As far as I know, Großstadtgeflüster, the band that performes "Ich kündige" does not wanted to take part in the competition
the ninth song was added as a wild card. they had an entire little casting show to find performers and write their songs. Needless to say, you rarely write an ESC-song with one newcomer and maybe one or two additional writers in like 5 minutes to meet a deadline. Results were meh, though there was one guy with strong vocals, performance and a german-italian language song. Also needless to say, that he was not chosen :D As is tradition in Germany :D
The results sucked big time, just like the final songs selection.
His vocals are almost perfect. I kinda like it xD. The issue is that it's very generic and I'm not sure it can get past the 20th position.
It REALLY wasn't that bad but yeah the song is very average. But it's still kinda catchy. Isaak is the standout here. Yes, there were better options but...

Unpopular opinion from Germany:
I think that Ryk, Bodine Monet (and maybe Marie Reimy) are/were really overestimated. Yes, we won't leave bottom 5 with Isaak, but I don't think it would've been possible for the any of the other artists mentioned above.
That being said, I'm pretty indfferent about Isaak. I don't care about our results, I just want to be entertained. But I feel bad for him because of all the hate he's getting.

You've could have seen Naiv by Marie on the Eurovision stage? Now, that's where you lost me. I'm actually glad, this didn't win. Yes, the winning song was mid table as well, a good voice, maybe a slight revamp could elevate it, plus backing vocals, better staging. Maybe the juries could save it from the bottom 5, but it's definitely gonna get a poor result with the televote, especially if they're drawn into the first half.
The audience HAD to vote for Isaak to prevent Max due to the Jury Vote and Ryk was sadly collateral damage.

Bless him? The people of Germany voted for it so it is what THEY chose. Also, the juries were WILDLY all over the board and seemed sus. LOTL last year got robbed so let's see how it goes in Malmo. I enjoyed Ryk, but being in the US, I can only vote at ESC. Not a lot of WOW facto in all 9 songs but his song had a decent hook and was sung with conviction. Imagine being the artist and having to listen to this "Bless him".

imo Katze was pretty good, obviously this is a snippet but the whole staging is pretty good and has that weird/fun factor that fits with Eurovision. Side Note: Not European so I just like Eurovision, but I think the obsession with winning and toxicity around the whole contest can sour the experience.

I'm not German and I don't get why Germans are so unhappy about the choice. Both here and on the ESCyounited forum I've seen a lot of complaints. I'd say it's just a bit weird since Isaac got the 1st place from both the public and the jury. I don't get the hype around some other songs in the NF. Gave a listen to them and they're all just mediocre at best. Isaac's performance seems like it has the potential to be improved by May.

@@flyingrabbits7137 fair enough, but I find it very hard to believe that it would influence the voting so much that Isaac got the 1st place just for this reason. Most comments I came across especially on youtube are from people who genuinely think it's some sort of scheme to "destroy Germany's chances at eurovision". It's all just bizzare to me.

Shouldn't you go to a contest with a certain ambition? Namely to reach at least the top 10? But that's not going to happen with this depressing song.The Germans simply can't do it
In my humble Opinion, a horrible Choice. He is a great Singer. But the Song... That Chorus is just awful: "Run un ah äh/Run un ah äh/Run un ah äh/Run un ah äh" 10 Times per Minute. Ew.
What, in the Name of JYP's Fish Tank is the meaning of this?! Did they forget to write a Chorus or what is it supposed to tell us? It's just so boring, repetetive and unoriginal, it drags the whole Song down. And it's not like the Rest of the Song was great - the Verses were, you know, ALRIGHT, but that's it.
I'd propose that the 1st Step in Isaak's Preparations for Malmö is writing a Chorus for the Song as it doesn't have one. But on the other Hand, the only remotely memorable Thing about the Song is how underwhelming it is.
For me, as a German I'm beyond disappointed with this result. I'm also yet to see a Person who thinks this was the right Choice after 2 Hours of seaching the German Web. I'd go as far as to say that "Always On The Run" is even worse than "Rockstars". Rockstars at least had a Rap-Part that somewhat spiced Things up. The only worse Thing that could happen is Isaak hiring those two terrible Women from 5 Years ago as Backround Singers. In Retrospect, I'd even have prefered the absolute Snoozefest that Max Mutzke's Song was over this Mess.

At this point, I’m just glad if it’s not total cringe. If last place is a given, I’d rather see Germany come last with style (Lord of the Lost) or with decent and generic (this year) than with some of the absolute cringe the NDR has made us send a few years ago (“Ghost”, “Perfect Life”, “Sister”, “I Don’t Feel Hate”…). I’m not including “Black Smoke” in that list, because at least it was competently sung - and Isaak’s song is slightly more entertaining than that. Which is not saying much, but, as I’ve stated: At least not total cringe. That’s how low our standards are by now. 🫠
Well, IMO “Black Smoke” was a great song (don't know why it ended up last, same as with last year's song!), & this one is so lame compared to that...
