    In this video I literally hack away at the old exhaust and put the slip on can onto it. Sounds go but not running great at the moment. Possibly needs up jetting.

      @@ianbarclay6449 hi Ian, wow 9 years, the main things will be check that the petrol tank has no rust and flush out the old fuel, clean the carbs well to get rid of any old fuel that has gummed them up. A basic service I.e oil, oil filter and air filter, spark plug check and change if needed.
      And finally the brakes will need a service including new dot 4 fluid.
      The bike will need a new battery aswell.
      I hope this gives you an idea of what to do and please do ask for any advice you want.

      I don't think I switched them around mate. It's because the bars are shorter then the originals. I'll order some shorty levers if the bike runs better tomorrow. I think I'm going to put the original exhaust back on it. I'm not keen on the new one.

    um.. on the exhaust, isn't that thing the sound suppressor that goes into the exit side? Also why didn't you just use a step-down joint so it fit correctly without using all that paste stuff?... Also are you not using the choke on cold start up?

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  Před 4 lety +2

      No it's not, it is a step down I was using but I bought the wrong one. I was always using the origins exhaust anyway and only did this to show people the sound and how to do it. So it went back to an ori exhaust. I had 2 anyway.
      But yes a proper step down would have made life easier.
      Also these bikes don't sound very god with louder exhausts in my opinion.

    Is it possible to get an after-martket to the OEM pattern ?..........and is the OEM silencer welded to the pipe as one system ?

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  Před rokem +1

      Aftermarket down pipes? Yes definitely.
      I can't remember if the original end pipe is a 1 piece. I feel like it was yes. So to put a aftermarket end can on you would cut the old silencer off and weld the new one.

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  Před 4 lety +3

      If you change the exhaust and put a high flow filter in then it would be best to upjet by 4 on the main jet. It's fairly quick and easy to do. I do them in minutes now. I can't remember what the main jets are now so you may have to check and then order 4 higher. Otherwise it will be running lean which isn't great for the bike.
      I went back to stock on this in the end.

      Hi Turbo, its hard to tell really, these are cheap bikes in the UK. The 2009 model was pretty good though and a 600 or 650 engine I believe?
      Basically do all the checks, make sure it looks clean, tyres are good, chain and sprockets are good and take it for a good 15 to 20 minutes ride before paying for it.
      If it feels good to you then it will be. Any funny engine noises then don't bother buying, it has to sound smooth.
      Sorry I'm not more help.
