    Davinci is the future of video editing softwares. Only and only problem I have in davinci is that its user base is so small and It creates the problems while collaborating and more than that in finding the plugins and extensions to use; less people uses it hence less people makes it.

      The industry standard will be DaVinci in about 5 years. It's a powerful editing, color, audio, and 3D compositing program.
      All in one... their only problem is developing Fusion animation so there are fewer nodes and steps involved in creating animation.
      When I dive down and look at steps for creating some of text and graphic animation, there are a lot of steps for simple animation.
      Fusion code is probably about 20 years old. A free CD version was available 10 years ago.
      In DaVInci, things were taken from Vegas Pro, Autodesk Combustion, and Smoke and improved.
      As far as what I used them for, there are similarities between all three.

  • @GrizzMedia

      @xanzuls Před 2 lety +11

      What kind of features do you think they should add to Fusion? Maybe motion graphics wise, but in terms of VFX, Fusion has already been used in over 1000 Hollywood movies and tv shows and the node-based workflow is pretty much the industry standard.

    • @ViniuauCP
      @ViniuauCP Před 2 lety +1

      @@xanzuls I swear, if they get more motion graphics capabilites to the Fusion tab (shape and text animation), AE is dead to me. The only thing that AE wins over is its animators (trim paths, repeater, etc). I tried using the shape nodes, but they were slow to me for some reason.

    • @xanzuls
      @xanzuls Před rokem +1

    Another useful thing about DaVinci Resolve that a lot of people don't touch upon/realize is that you can use it as a photo editor using Fusion to crop, mask, add effects, text, and so on. It may not be a Photoshop alternative especially if you are processing professional photos, but you can use it to edit your CZcams thumbnail images, or other photos within the resolution limits supported. Just bring in the photo, make your edits, and export a single frame when done.

    Over the last year I have been learning basic editing in entry level software (Power Director). I have just started migrating to Resolve. Although the learning curve is steep, everything about Resolve seems so well thought out. It really does feel like it was video editors writing software for other video editors. All the other software that I have used feels like software engineers writing software for video editors, but have never spent days or weeks actually editing films. It's hard to describe until you sit down and start using it. I don't regret using entry level software starting out, but this is an amazing piece of software.

    I've been editing in Davinci Resolve Studio for about 4 years and haven't looked back. It's absolutely amazing. Version 18 seems a little rough so I wouldn't recommend updating from 17.4.6 at this moment in time, but I am sure they're gonna work out all the bugs eventually, they always do. 💯 There's ways they can improve upon Davinci Resolve, but if you get the workflow right and assign your own custom shortcuts for editing, it's gonna be a breeze (ex. S - to split clip instead of cmd+B 🙄). I set A and D to be start and end to playhead, also Q and W switch between normal edit mode and trim mode cursors. I also have N and B as snapping and linked selection. You've got the JKL keys for scrubbing around and to move clips one frame at a time you gotta know these keys: < and >. That's it. 💯 Good luck!

    In fact, I was using Vegas Pro for 15 years before switching to DaVinci Resolve a year ago.
    It was a pleasure using Vegas for editing on a Mac Bootcamp setup. However, after the Mac M1 was announced, Mactel on Bootcamp was no longer available.
    Vegas Pro ran flawlessly on that setup, just like DaVinci does on the M1 chip.
    However, I jumped right into DaVinci workflow and stop at Vegas Pro 19's... DaVinci workflow is super flawless and renders extremely fast.
    When you work with Vegas Pro, you have to mess around with all those windows and panels, whereas when you use DaVinci, you can work on your action on 6 pages to design what you're working on.
    The industry standard will be DaVinci in about 5 years. It's a powerful editing, color, audio, and 3D compositing program.

    It's interesting to hear your experience about switching. Most people in the industry don't want to admit that Davinci Resolve gives you the better value to performance. However, crashing premier pro software should not be the only reason to switch and I know you pointed out the expensive Adobe subscription model. Davinci Resolve crashes as well but you can auto save and manually backup your database which immensely reduces your risk of data loss. Again, Resolve is very powerful when it comes to colour grading footage. As long as you have a 10 bit 422 images you can push the colours as far as you want and if you are good you can throw in 8-bit 420 footage as well. There a so many different ways in Resolve to achieve any particular look you are going for.

    Great video. What pushed me over the edge is Fusion. I love just jumping to that tab instead of relying on the dynamic link. I also feel like Resolve pushed me in ways that Premiere Pro didn't. I feel more creative when I'm making my transitions.

      What is your experience with fusion? I have a m1 max and it runs after effects perfectly but fusion is another story. I love Davinci Resolve but, It get stuck even for rendering the most simple graphics. Whereas AE do it in a second.

      @@daniellrodriguezs my experiences with Fusion have been fine. I'm using an MSI Trident PC with 64 gigs of ram and an Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics card. Fusion is slow. That's why I render exr files for my 3D projects. When I used AE, I had to drop the timeline resolution to half for it to run smoothly. A trick to getting good playback in Fusion is to turn off the motion blur and high quality on the play back. If you enabled motion blur, it will still appear in the final render even if it's disabled in the timeline playback.

    I love Resolve, but 18 Studio has been EXTREMELY buggy. Crashes, UI elements that disappear/don't load unless I toggle between workspaces and lagging in playback causing it to just freeze and then suddenly wake up. 17 Free was flawless...

    I’ve slowing started working with resolve over the years. However many of the clients I work with want premiere pro project files for backup and to use with the on site editors for there own workflow.
    For my own content I use resolve for keying and color grading.

    Just recently switched too, DaVinci just feels more snappy, has almost every feature there and benefits like the color corrections stuff, the built in Fusion which is not as powerful as After Effects but it's inside the same app, so still works great

    Great content! Thanks for sharing your experience with Davinci so far. I’m new to editing and still getting to know more about Premiere Pro. I have to admit that Premiere crashes are very frustrating. However Davinci is a bit intimidating for me at the moment. Maybe next year I’ll give it a try 🤞🏾

Everyone says about color grading in da vinci but moslty people who's mentality is stucked at color grading! I am mostly considered at the work flow, effects, making my work easy, sound edit features and color grading is the last think i am considered! More thoughts. The free version will not let you do 10bit color...so your Sony camera ( or your possible RED camera ) footage will not work unless you get the paid version. Finally, Fairlight, IMO, is good for small things but still needs work for full-on audio DAW projects. It will get there, just not yet. Great move however!

      You are correct but just to be clear, Sony camera footage willl work if its shot in 8bit or if its 10bit transcoded to 8bit.
