Everyone is different, but in turn, everyone is the same because no one is the same so it is every one as a whole. We live in a special snowflake society. Everyone wants to believe that they are different than everyone else. It might be how they cope with life. It might just give them that sense of superiority.

As someone who has high functioning autism, I found this series excellent. It's definitely worth a watch.
Is it an accurate portrayal of this condition in your opinion? Or did you notice some parts which you feel are not shown correctly?

I have aspergers and this show reminds me of some of the same stereotypical portrayals we see in Big Bang Theory. However each person's autism is different and some people struggle in areas another autistic will excel in and vice versa. To me I relate to many things in the show but at least to me, it's really exaggerated at times.

This show is simply awesome. As someone who has worked with those on the Spectrum, I can tell you that this is such a brilliantly accurate portrayal of high functioning autism that I sometimes forget I am watching actors delivering lines. Bravo to all of those involved in this production.

For those of you making fun and/or saying negative things about Autism: I have a 13 year old little brother with autism who is more intelligent than all of you combined. It's not a disability. He's unique, creative, high functioning, and has a great sense of humor. Quite frankly, he is the most honest person that I know.

This was the first ever Netflix show I've watched! And I didn't even realised how much I loved this show until season 3 I found myself coming back to the show over and over again. Tells and shows a great message and is such a feel good show! I love it and highly recommend :)

They cancelled Sense8 for 13 reasons why shit and this.
Devesh Singh Pppfff, man Sense8 was not even that good. Plus the fact that you have to wait much longer than any other series just so we can have only one season of 12 episodes with a cliffhanger finale and don't answer the multiple questions they did throughout the series is something really dumb to do.
Also, Sense8 is just a way to have more effect on LGBT community and to show that being gay is something (Somehow) "Superior" than any other person. It's the same way saying that "Being straight is superior" when there's no one on top of anything. Not to mention the uneeded amout of sex scenes (Straight, Gay, Lesbian or Gang-Bang) and unexplained reason to change one of the main character's actor to someone else.
Another also: Sense8 is going to have a two hours episode to conclude the show. So we just have to wait for another 2 years to finish this series. Very cool uh???
I am going to point the fact that there's no part of Sense8 which alludes to superiority of LGBT sexual orientation over heterosexuality. The message of equality is clear. Nomi is awesome not because she is a Trans Woman, but because of her whole self; she's a hacker with a strong sense of self identification. But San or Riley or even Wolfgang are no less awesome than her.
I am appalled by the fact that you see a character dealing with issues related to their sexuality(which is not even part of the major story line, at least not directly) as projecting superiority of the LGBT community.
The whole theme of Sense8 is how people are brought together by their differences, that no one person is above or below another person, but still their individual self.

And, just because the series does not show this whole orientation/sexuality issue as superior, the fans around the world does think that. Many people (Specially in Brazil, where I live) think they are somehow superior than the others just because they are gay, lesbian or trans ... also, the fact that the character Capheus did not have any sexual relationship in season one showed more like he was pure. While most of the other characters had sex at least once. But in Season 2, "somehow" (Just because the fans wanted to see everyone together having sex at the same time) Capheus was there involved too. Well, I'm not saying that he shouldn't have sex, but in Season 1 he did not need that. He was living his life, always thinking positive and worried about other stuffs and that was soooo much better than adding him at some random sex scene "for fun"
Another character, Kala, also had something similar. She was virgin back in Season 1 and in Season 2 most of her scenes are her getting involved with Wolfgang and having sex or wanting to have sex with him again and again. This changed the whole original idea of the first time we saw the character when she was all worried about her virginity.
The fact that Capheus met a woman who liked him back and was bissexual was beautiful. The fact that Nomi and Wolfgang were back together in season 2 was great too, but they changed these characters just because the fans wanted to see all of them having sex. If I wanna see something like that, I'll go watch some porn.
Plus, the sexuality stuff was not the only thing I said why Sense8 is not this whole glorified series everyone talks about. It lost too much of it's originality by wanting to have sex and talk about sexuality and orientation the whole time. Plus, they wasted 2 years to produce only 12 or 11 episodes (I can't remember rn) and in the end of Season 2, we're left with some bullshit crap cliffhang ending and they didn't explained everything because they were adding more questions, just so we would want to have a Season 3. But hey, the series was canceled and we had to ask for Netflix to give us an proper ending. The producers itselfs knew that the series was going to be canceled, and they did that just for cash ...
Not only that, what about the original Capheus??? No one give a proper answer to why he was out of the show, and what people were saying about him being Homphobic and/or transphobic is so bs because he did had such a good time with the two actors Jamie and the other one who plays Hernando, so why would he be homophobic to the producers knowing who the producers were???

I appreciate that this is a self-aware, multi-layered character who wants to overcome his challenges and have people see him for who he really is as a person rather than his disorder. lotta people in this comment section seem to hate this show based on the idea of it. i have three autistic brothers and my mother thinks i'm likely somewhere on the spectrum, as well as one of my brothers (the one i can see very often).
i think this show is a good idea and i hope it succeeds. i like how it's not a teen trying to get rid of his autism (side note: autism speaks does nothing for families with people who have autism in them) but he's learning to live with it. that's a damn good lesson to teach. it seems like it wants to show that people with autism have a lot of the same wants as people without it.
but still, i hated 13 reasons why and how it portrayed suicide and depression, things i've gone through, so who knows? still, i hope this show is good.

Amazing series! I worked and continue to do with children and adolescents with autism. BEST job ever!!! And 'Atypical' Displays all the daily dynamics in this young man's life and his family in a funny, intriguing, exciting , sad at times and real way. This show should have 10 seasons minimum!.

I myself have autism but it isn't as bad. It does affect my personality but it isn't major. Watching the first episode and seeing how people actually go through this stuff (ofcourse a little less exatgegrated) is just so unfair and hard. I have a brother and he also has autism but way worse as me. I feel bad for him, i wish he could communicate as easy, i wish he didn't have to go through things like this, but there isn't much i can do about it.

Autistic here, allow me to explain the "protagonist is wearing a headphone" thing.
A lot of us have a form of Hyperacusis meaning that we are sensitive to sound. Like, badly.
Too much stimulus leads to a meltdown, and that's the "NONONONONONO" point.
Headphones can reduce stress.

While I can attest to what you are saying, and that you are right on both the sensitivity part and that it's common to use them among "us" (I know many), I personally find they have an opposite effect on me- although from what I've seen I'm a rare one there. With headphones I feel like I have no control over the environment around me, things just happen and I can't hear movements, sounds, communication, and I feel like anything might happen to me.
Anybody who hasn't seen it, WATCH IT. It was amazing. I am autistic and it really depicts it well. I thought it wad funny and creative. And I have seen a lot of shows that try to depict autism and completely fail. This is not 110% accurate, but it depicts it so well.
It is a little exaggerated, but it's why it works, it helps you to understand it better.
I find this so relatable, not just as a kid with aspergers but as a fellow weirdo, penguin lover, etc

As someone with autism, and who is in a relationship. I hope this is representative of the struggles of dating on the spectrum: Miscommunicating with your partner, having to teach them your SPD quirks and how to avoid them, and ESPECIALLY the harsh reality of meltdowns. Nobody seems to talk about meltdowns but even high-functioning ppl can have meltdowns and regression and it is a big thing you have to deal with in a relationship with Autism. Even if the show fails in those areas tho, at least it can be good cringe material. Lol

This show was really good. It was a comedy mainly but it had it's serious moments that were really good and it sends a good message. The acting was really good and Casey is such a great character. Zahid was funny as shit too. I want a season 2 asap. I'm tired of Netflix making us wait years just for 8 episodes of our favorite shows.

I have a brother and sister with autism this made me go through a load of emotions this made me cry and laugh definitely recommend watching can’t wait for season 3
