I'm not sure if it applies to overseas customers, but the I AM GIA return policy is 100% breaking the Australian Consumer Law. The are not allowed to say no refunds, have to offer a refund in the same manner you paid for faulty goods, and are obliged to cover any costs for returning faulty goods.
Tanaya is that for change of mind/wrong size though or actual faulty items? They can't deny refunds on faulty items but can offer store credit instead for change of mind
They actually don't have to offer a refund unless it is a major fault. If it's minor or you change your mind then you only get an exchange or a store credit. Major fault would be for example the product does not suit the purpose it was sold for, description does not match the product or something like that. They cannot exclude the consumer law, it applies in every situation in which you are a customer - no exceptions. Just did an exam on consumer law!

Kat Thomas it’s always in the small print- anything you order os has this warning on it. If you live in Australia you’re used to everything costing- we’re a smaller population a long way from everywhere else!
It's customs fees. Everything bought outside the European Union (for countries in the European Union like the UK) have to pay import duty and tax. Tax is around 20% of the items total + another duty fee if it's over a certain amount + a handling fee. Basically don't buy outside the EU if you're in the EU. It sucks arse, but if you want to buy outside the EU, you will very likely get slapped with these atrocious fees :(
Customs is a thing in North America too. It's pretty common. The laws differ by country. I live in BC, Canada, and from my understanding, packages coming in from outside countries that are worth more than like $10 CAD are randomly selected to have custom fees (or import fees, or border duties, you pick your term) on them.

The quality of the material may be good but you are buying an expensive item of clothing. Obviously nothing has been thought out - for example no zip on the shorts, lack of material on the bikini top and a fanny weggie. Poor packaging and missing items?! Seems like a big fat scam. I've ordered from aerie and they didn't explain the customs fees very well, I got my package and was very happy but a few weeks later got a bill to pay tax on the order so an extra £20 which is annoying as it was on sale and I bought it to be cheap :(
Mj Vision it's normal in the UK that international orders (i.e outside Europe) over £18 get charged customs and handling fees.... some international sites, like Yesstyle, are clever and have European or UK based warehouses where they can ship orders out from though.
I have had to pay 50% of what I spent worth customs and handling fees all the time i have had international shipments. I stay in Botswana (Africa). Apparently its a law that tries to discourage buying international over locally just so local brands and stores dont lose out.
The thing with our Australian brands is that for example $70 (aud) for a bodysuit like the first one from a boutique type shop, is normal in Australia. I never realised because living here you get used to it but since watching overseas youtubers and pricing of overseas stores I’ve now realised how expensive we are compared to other countries

2:33 All the things you bought would have also included Australian tax. 10% of each item's price would have been Australian 'Goods and Services Tax', so you've not only paid UK tax, but by buying Australian things you've also paid Australian tax.
If you are buying something in Australian Dollars, it is overpriced. Not just because of tax either, everything is just a good 20% more expensive than the US or UK, even without tax.

But it's not that Easy to actually find a Factory that is ethical to its workers, have good prices and quality clothing. The margins here are way too high but honestly they arent making more than 20%.. considering you must do private labeling, ads, influencers.. it's not that much after all.

Frustrating, seeing something great but not the right size if an auction. New, there is usually options. Chinese one size fits all. Nope. At 5 ft. 2 inches and 110 lbs., some stuff just fits and some I have to stuff myself into. But for a few bucks, no great losses.
