I gotta admit, I’m starting to warm up to the giant grille
Same
But unlike the m3 and m4 which the grille is useful
The i4 grille is useless
The 2025 front grill design and surrounding bumper looks better, for sure.
except on an electric car, no need for one at all
I think it looks great. To me it’s distinctive, edgy, and better than the homogenized looking new grille on the ‘25.
I wonder if it’s possible to get the i4 with the normal grille as the non electric. I don’t like that plastic piece covering half the grille. I’ve always wondered if BMW would give you a normal one or if you can even buy a normal one and have them put it on. Anyone knows? Thanks
I acquired this car in Brooklyn Grey a week ago. I had owned an Audi e tron GT for three years before that. In nearly every way the i4 M50 is a step forward. The Audi was terrific overall and gorgeous to look at. But in terms of immense easy power, braking, steering, ergonomics, range (am getting up to 300 miles on 19’s) and certainly technology, this car excels. I’m sure I’ll like the BMW even more as I learn how best to drive it.
I think I'll have to show your comment to my Audi-loving colleague 😁 (I got my i4 in Feb 2023 after waiting 1.5 years. She got an E-tron GT just before that. She went from an S5 and I went from a 328ix (which I still have))
Just bought one in San Remo Green with the Cognac interior. The 2025s are starting to be produced next month, so the lease incentives right now are crazy good for the 2024s.
HELL YEam Bembli. I had no idea you had another channel. I love the I4 M50. Looking forward to getting another! We got the advertised range, even better sometimes, on ours. Went from Albany, NY to Syracuse no problem. This car is a dream to drive.
Literally just got one this weekend. I am in absolute love. I didn't think I would be happy on the EV train, but every single drive is the highlight of my day. I agree about the range seeming to be short of 230 miles. Then again, it's impossible to drive this thing in eco off the highway... Only because there's so much fun to be had in comfort and sport mode.
You get the advertised range when driving mostly in comfort or (Eco mode when remaining range is low). The car has more than enough power in comfort mode that I use sport mode on the few occasions when I need the extra power from the M50. I love this car. ❤
There’s no real difference in efficiency in the different modes, it’s all in your lead foot… 😂
@@ericnewton5720 Lol. Lead foot in comfort mode is more efficient than sport mode lead foot 😊
My last three cars: 2017 BMW M3, 2021 Tesla 3 Performance, 2024 BMW i4 M50. The i4 M50 is my favorite out of the three by far, I absolutely love it. It's the heaviest out of the bunch but chuck it into a corner and it's still extremely visceral and fun. The Model 3 Performance felt like I was playing a driving game of a car on a Playstation, if that makes sense.
Violet Blue is an Individual color. the reason to get an i4 would be the discounts over the ICE counterpart. similar MSRP on the i4 M50 you are gonna pay $4-500 bucks less a month than the M3/4. I think the i4 is designed similarly to the i5/5 series with a sandwich floor to be an full EV capable platform. That's why the 4 series coupe isn't offered as i4 as that body doesn't have the sandwich floor.
The 4 Series Gran Coupe was designed from the outset to be their compact/midsize EV offering. It's the only way to explain why the piston-driven 4 Gran Coupe has the flush door handles befitting an EV. They knew the only way they could sell a new EV line was to make it at least a little practical even if the aim was to be sportier than the iX. So it's a 4 Series, but really the five-door liftback version.
Looks so good
We love our M50 and have been driving it for two years now. It's our favorite car of our lifetime...but then I see the coming BMW D-vision neue klasse. That's a gorgeous car and I'm going to be tempted to trade in when the time comes
Nice video, was really wanting this car, but more boot space and an SUV is a must for my family
Why an SUV is a must?
@@vladislavdimitrov4646 cause lots of family that need space
@SketchMonkey - Did you do the launch control in Sport Boost mode?
Yeah this car has been great. Got my m50 used back in December 2023, and I’m still wondering why the previous guy gave it up. It’s absolutely exhilarating and fun to drive. I’ve been just having a blast anytime I get to take it out.
Riding with an air of cool confidence
The BMW i4 and 4-Series Gran Coupe are family-friendly cars.
I just leased one yesterday. I love it, but I wouldn't describe it as family friendly. It lacks storage, and the back seat is short on legroom.
Only for dwarf families.
@@barnhib The reason is simple. It has been designed for combustion engines: A lot of useless space under the giant bonnet.
@@barnhibfamily friendly for Europeans. Americans apparently need huge cars…
@plastiquemaraj8839 Last time I checked, Europeans are every bit as tall as Americans., so shouldn't they need the same amount of legroom?
I have an M50 in Portimao Blue (looks very close to this test car) . I have the 19 in wheels. Sadly after a year and half almost, have still not done the launch control in Sport Boost.
Oh this one has iDeive 8.5 I think. But yeah I wish the HVAC controls were buttons. My mom just got the new X3 and it's a better balance between buttons and screen. So yeah curved screen with HVAC controls with buttons would have been perfect.
A lot of my fellow owners want to switch out their grills for the LCI M grill. I will consider it myself.
We're going on year two with ours...never tried the launch control either....one day perhaps
Just need the M Sport Differential and my next car will be a BMW BEV.
8:29 I know you didn’t just say BMW’s modern take on its ICONIC angel eyes isn’t very BMW 💀. At least in the forums, most people are mourning the loss of angel eyes because of the new “scars/devil fang” style headlights :(
I love the giant grille but not the spoiler and I won’t pay for that color.
Top car ❤
If it was lowered 1.5 inches it would look 👌.
Needs 4k upload.
The "testes" front is not growing on me, or dropping so to speak. Even in an EV, the cheap screen is a bad aesthetic they should make a custom binnacle and controls on the dash.
I4 looks cool but i really want the M440i instead or an M4! Gasonline just cant be replaced by electric it will never be the same
Yeah...with gasoline you get the soundtrack for the apocalypse. Seriously though, after driving the i4 m50 for two years now, I could never imagine going back.
@@gregmiller9957 I get that some people like the i4 its a cool car! But the sound of a Bmw engine is 50% of the reason for buying a Bmw in the first place. Its like music. Cant take away the music.
@@Aizman87 fair enough...enjoy 🙂
Is this dude Swedish? He sounds like when a Swedish dude sounds American, if that makes sense haha
He is
How is it possible that the cars nowadays are so large (and heavy) and yet they are very uncomfortable in the rear seats? How the hell that happens? 🤷🏻♂️
This is easy: The battery sits in the floor and takes that vertical space away, you need for a comfortable rear seating. Building a flat Grand Coupé increases that problem.
you need to drive the ionic 5 n
99 percent of these vehicles are configured without the driver assist package and in a boring white / grey / black.
I just leased one yesterday. The dealer had 23 i4 m50's. I agree about the colors (I thankfully got San Remo Green/Cognac), but most of the ones there had the drivers assist package (including mine.)
Wait, so that's not a SUV?
Every other EV out there seems to be an SUV or a -modern day station wagon- compact crossover. This makes the i4 one of a relatively few in the market space (electric coupe or sedan).
It's what sold me on the car-- I was getting out of a wagon when I got the i4, and I wasn't in a mood to make my new ride yet another hatchback.
@@BogeyTheBear No I meant its side profile looks more like a SUV/crossover than a couple/sedan.
The huge charging time is one of the only setbacks of this beautiful car.
The charging is on par with most EVs: 30 mins 10 to 80% at DC fast charging (205 kw) and around 10 hours at home on level 2. You get more range (270 miles) with 19 inch tires
Not sure what you're talking about...charges at 205 kw...it's rare where we are we can even ever find a charger that fast
@@gregmiller9957 I get your point but practicality is key. The key is more about the charging curve and less the top speed because even at 150 kw, the BMW charges relatively fast: because of it's charging curve it takes almost the same time compared to a 350kw given the car only accepts 205kw max. I'm speaking from experience. Point being that 150kw DC charger for the i4 is still reasonably fast enough especially if you are not always having to charge from 10 to 80. I generally roll in at around 30% and charge to around 70% which will get me home to complete at L2 charging.
You should try IONIQ 5 N.
What does it mean, "grancoupe"?😅 It's just a stupid marketing plate. This body type is a typical 5-door liftback. No more no less. Not the saloon, not the hatchback. LIFTBACK. You, as a kind of car enthusiast, must know this.
The eDrive40 is actually better in terms of driving fun and has more range for a way lower price. M50 is a bit pointless.
We bought the M50 simply because we have a lot of ice and snow where I am. So maybe pointless for some but not all
85% ice drivers don't believe in EV's
reson why ev prices keep going down faster because no poor person is buying it in used ev market, poor fear the huge battery fail costs, charging and range anxiety and inconvenient and winter huge range lost and freezing cold, most tesla ev battery has failed, replaced 3 times when reaching 100k miles
A lot of disinformation
Wrong. I would buy the i4 instantly, if it offered the same spacious interior like my BMW 3 series GT (F34).
You're almost entirely wrong
While the look is nicer, the Model 3 performance after 7500 rebate is 45k. I could buy an S plaid for the price of this car!! Ouch.
Yea and have poor build quality, 0 luxury interior, less tech, and a worse looking car.
@user-my4xu4gf1z less tech? You realize an S can drive itself. And gets OTA updates.
@@grahamstefaan u realize bmw gets OTA updates aswell? U realize newer bmws can also self drive itself? Per Edmunds Car reviews it's better then teslas aswell. Their auto park feature is also better. Tesla doesnt have a HUD, 360 cam, premium brand name audio brand, near as good seats, u can use ur hand movements to use the screen rather then touching it, buttons for simple things rather then having to look at an ipad for every little thing while driving, etc.. yes it has better and more tech.
Not everyone qualifies for the rebate
The BMW i4 wants to be everything and is nothing. It’s not an elegant two doors coupé. It’s not a sedan with comfortable rear seats.
