At the very start of the series (Storm) it was intended to be a prank that got perceived as real, however as the series has continued, that old narrative has been beginning to shift.
Right now, it's a lot more ambiguous as to whether or not this is all actually happening.
Essentially, if people wanna believe it's all real, they're more than welcome too. If they wanna believe it's still just a prank, they're also able to do that. Completely up to the viewer.
