- There are over 62,000 women in Ukraine's Armed Forces. Olha Bihar is one of them. After the full-scale invasion, this owner of a law firm became an officer and artillery commander. She works with mortars-an effective type of weaponry that allows attacking the enemy where other weapons cannot reach. The heroine of the 'Profession: Warrior' goes by the call sign Witch. She has gone from serving in the infantry to commanding artillery units and knows firsthand what the war looks like for a mortar crew.

In 2024 you say "The Witch"? I know who she is! I have known since over a year!
The same way I know of "The Red Baron" of WW1. Or do I know of Mr. Audie Murphy (American hero from WW2). And every French person also knows of Ms. Josephine Baker (now in France's highest honors, the Pantheon) for her work and heroism during WW2.
But wait...
I'm not comparing Ms. Bihar to these 3 heroes (although she may one day be remembered as such).
All I am stating is this:
Ms. Bihar does perfectly represent in 2024 what Ukraine is as a Society in 2024. That is a country which has transitioned at light speed, from a former soviet/russian satellite, onto a Country / Society pretty darn close to us in "the West"!

My respects to you Witch. I’ve been shot at, mortared and had my head thumped by IED blasts but I doubt I have seen one tenth of what you have. You are right about being on the receiving end of mortars.

I don't understand, why Ukraine now 2 years at full scale war is still not producing singnificant amount of ammunition by themselfe? And whole Europe is struggeling to find some shells? Unbelievable.
Their production ramped up in 2014. Also consider that retooling for NATO standard ammunition is not trivial (I'm not sure how many Soviet-calibre howitzers with good barrels they still have). I do believe BAE Systems is now set up in Ukraine which will be able to increase production.
The amount of arty expended by both sides just outstrips production, hence why Ukraine needs supply from the west and Russia needs supply from DPRK.
People need to find out what russia was upto regarding that.
A true inspiration for all men and women.
