  • This week's episode of Classic Restos is dedicated to the EH Holden, a car that holds a special place in the hearts of car enthusiasts and Holden fans. The EH Holden became Australia's most popular car, with an impressive sales record of 256,000 units. Its popularity was only surpassed by the HQ Holden, which had a longer production run.
Fletch admits it would be remiss of him not to give some acclaim to the EH Holden's predecessor, the EJ Holden. The EJ model heralded the new box styling of the era, with 154,000 units built from 1962. Fletch flashes back to an episode that featured an EJ Holden owner and his adorable eight-year-old grandson, who is equally passionate about the car.
Fletch captures the deep emotional connection of EH Holden owners from past Classic Restos episodes.
There is Paul, a very passionate owner who says his EH is not just a car but a part of his life that takes him anywhere he wants.
Then, there's Jason, the EH Collector, who has not one but four EH models, the complete matching set as he calls it. He is very proud to have these cars and share them with his family.
Kev is another owner of two EH models, a sedan and a ute, each with interesting acquisition stories. The sedan was acquired from a deceased estate after spending 26 years in a garage, and Ute was acquired after spending 20 years in a Quicksilver Surf Shop on the Gold Coast.
John is another EH devotee with his EH Premier sedan, a top-of-the-range model that he purchased back in 1966 and still has to this very day. The car has become a beloved family icon, having served as the wedding car for John and his daughter and the car for his grandchildren's graduations.
Finally, there's an EH Sedan called 'Blondie', named by the assembly line crew at the SA Holden plant for the incoming General Motor Manager from the US. The special build was finished in Dupont Cadillac pink, with power steering, hydramatic automatic transmission, bone leather and vinyl upholstery from Germany.
All these EH Holden owners share a common love for the car’s distinctive shape, reliability, and driveability. It's no wonder this car is a favourite among Holden fans and car enthusiasts.

My dad got one around 66 or 67. It was yellow, and definitely a 179 manual. This was Napier, New Zealand. We toured around the South Island in it about 69. Would love one now.

It was, and is a great car. Had a reliable engine, Was quite simple in it's design. A suare, with a wheel in each corner, and came with plenty of power, Really a predesesor of th mighty Torana.

I love the dashboard layout on the EH, it looked futuristic to me then, and it remains so today. A fabulous design, with a lot of character.

Thanks for this Fletch, fantastic! One of my favourite Holdens and I’ve had a few. Owned a EJ as a young fella with fond memories, paid $500 NZD just one of many cars I regret selling.

Hello Fletch, really enjoyed the videos on the EH’s. Brings back great memories of my dad’s red EH Ute that he used to own. Last week I had a look at the Trafalgar Holden museum in VIC. Really enjoyed and is worth the look. Thank you very much for the video.
