With such fast cutting, it has rather low accuracy, and at the same time, when the thickness of the sheets increases, the bluntness will decrease, so it will not replace a milling machine. What is the thickness of the sheet metal he cuts?
@@hackmedia7755Yes but for maximum precision you need very thin wire for your electrode about 0.2-0.4mm. Also your current needs increase significantly as the material gets thicker. This is awesome but it might only be able to cut 4mm sheet max
You know there are 3rd party companies that specialize in shipping things that are region specific to other countries right? just google and look around for them.
The moment I told one of my 70s+ mentors "hey i discovered this new technology" he chuckled and explained how he helped develop it and made stuff for multiple agencies.. in that moment.. pride. haha so much I've yet to learn. which excites me
would so love to buy one of the machines, but i couldnt as its only US.... Do you know already when the Opensource Plans for the EDM PCB's/instructions will be released so i can build one?
This is an insanely cool project. Is there any sort of ventilation needed for EDM machining? Or is it fine to have running in your living space? What kind of tolerances can be expected from this? Of course that highly depends on the printer gantry itself, the POM wheels I assume aren't suitable for anything near micron accuracy, but do you have tests showing accuracy to tolerances and repeatability?
There are articles stating that all byproducts of an EDM process are potentially hazardous. I will not believe that ½" or even 18" of water is going to condense all of the tin, nickel, lead, chromium, etc produced by a thermal cut without seeing or performing tests. The slurry is definitely going to be toxic to the environment and water should be tested by a governing authority to see if it is lean enough in heavy metals content to dump. My guess is that even if you use DI water, it will "likely" be okay, but water treatment plants rely on ESTIMATING heavy metals content for most day to day treatment. It isn't constantly tested after treatment and using an excess of the substances that remove heavy metals is toxic in a water supply. You can't know what's in your materials 100% of the time. Even mild steel can end up with junk in it depending on the grade of it. Any process like this should be done with exhaust ventilation or a properly filtered chemical hood.
maybe one day. But the project is more to enable others to experiment, as power supplies have been the number one thing holding back EDM Peeps since forever from breaking it down to the hobbyist level.
you guys really aren't taking advantage of youtube as a platform, you should be uploading plenty of videos trying different things with your machine, basically showing off, you got 1m views on that one video that you could have built further on, instead it's pretty much dead silent. talk about dropping the bag.
Where is the water pump, water filter, what about water deionization system? Where is the water cooling system ,because of course the water get warm and is causing expansion wich means different accuracy. For me is nothing else just a "plasma" cutter under water.
Excellent video, but it fails at everything informationwise is concerned. Voltage applied, A allowed, DC or pulsating power source, price, availability, etc. Can you improve it?
I can't believe you got it going this fast! Speed isn't everything, but it helps lol
This is obviously sped up
@@bmotik I've seen this in person lol. It's very real. Look closely at the bubbles and water movement if you doubt it
@@bmotik Incredible, never seen a video where they speed up the movement of the machine but the bubbles move at a normal speed. Smh
I say the same about money. More money won't solve all my problems but it will certainly help my money problem.
I love this because it replaces extremely expensive CNC milling machines. This will be the next manufacturing revolution.

@@scorpioo7350 EDM is far more precise technology than milling.
@@hackmedia7755 It _can_ be more precise under the right circumstances.

What is the thickest sheet you’ve been able to cut ?
Man I was about to back this awesome project and try it myself but you can't ship in Europe 😔
Same here...

One more

I might not have the funds available to be an early backer, but I definitely need to get me one of these.
Can't wait to start playing with this.
My thoughts exactly
Immediately thought of takedown pin plates
Backer here, can’t wait to get mine!
Is there any mention when your unit will ship? Thanks. I cant believe i missed this. Then again, i got my bambulab x1c about 2 months ago.
This is so exciting! Loud, but exciting!
I didn’t think it could go that fast. That’s impressive!
The moment I told one of my 70s+ mentors "hey i discovered this new technology" he chuckled and explained how he helped develop it and made stuff for multiple agencies.. in that moment.. pride. haha so much I've yet to learn. which excites me

Dude thats insane wtf
August can't get here quickly enough!!!
Really cool how the cut quality going this fast
Surface quality is not different than at slower speeds.
What's the depth of work it can????
Am getting one of this for sure
😢 It's beautiful!
How do you keep this accurate? the copper probe should be getting thinner as you go.
would so love to buy one of the machines, but i couldnt as its only US.... Do you know already when the Opensource Plans for the EDM PCB's/instructions will be released so i can build one?
Very impressive
Any one else read that in Project farm guy voice?
What is the depth of cut on this machine?
Will this be able to cut stainless steel?
How thick can it cut?
How about the thickenss?? Iss posible for 3mm steel or alumunium?
Looks like I’m to late to back but super jealous
Are there any other ways to buy
Now that's what I'm talking about!!!! Can't wait to get mine....
Is this continuous wire? How thick and thin can you go? Thanks
Can it cut thought steel or just aluminum ?
Have you tested it with ~30mm thick material?
What’s the software side look like though?
I'm interested in becoming a backer, where do I look?
Круто
When can i buy or build one my self?? 🤷
How much this mod cost?
What is the average decible level?
between 0 and 140dB

It does not produce smoke or dangerous fumes like a plasma cutter. The gas seen escaping is water vapor, with some hydrogen and oxygen gas.

Where do I get more info on this?!?
check my channel for long form content on this
