    1:22:43 Relay Race results
    That was the final competitive head-to-head between Formula 1 giants Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna. Predictably, the pair took it very seriously: four-time world champion Prost having tested extensively before the event; Senna, a three-time title holder, having a kart shipped to Brazil so that he could practise.
    The format for the two-day event organised by French racer Philippe Streiff, wheelchair-bound since a pre-season F1 testing accident in Brazil in 1989, pitted over 60 drivers - more than a dozen of them contemporary grand prix racers - against each other around a 600-metre indoor circuit.
    Young karting stars, including Danilo Rossi, Nicola Gianniberti, Miku Santavirta and Sebastien Enjolras, strutted their stuff on the first day, with Rossi coming out on top in their final.
    Following two qualifying sessions, teams were made up of three drivers (one F1 star from each of the two sessions and one karting youngster).
    Senna and Prost joined by Philippe Alliot, Paul Belmondo, Eric Bernard, Andrea de Cesaris, Yannick Dalmas, Betrand Gachot, Jean-Marc Gounon, Olivier Grouillard, Damon Hill, Johnny Herbert, Pierluigi Martini and Olivier Panis.
    In the first relay, the Prost and Senna squads both hit trouble with their 100cc karts, leaving the team led by Minardi ace Martini to win.
    The final promised one last hurrah for Prost and Senna. Sadly for fans, Ayrton’s kart broke as he was reeling in erstwhile leader de Cesaris. The Italian soon fell behind Prost, leaving the world champion to uphold local honour.
    Senna, who twice finished runner-up in the world karting championship, later gave a group of journalists a few tips on how to master karting:
    “You have to drive sideways because go-karts are small, short-wheelbased and very quick to react. You are always sideways at some stage of the corner so that you can position yourself better to get a feel for the grip. In that respect it’s very different from a racing car."
    “In a racing car, if you try to lean on it you just slide and go off. In a kart you have to be hard and aggressive, but also precise. You use your body a little bit and normally your back suffers from the seat, especially if you haven’t been in one for some time.”

    39:05 Sebastien Enjolras with a blistering time of 28.865. He sadly lost his young life at Le Mans during practise just a few years later in 1997. yes i think prost would have done welll in modern cars, but i think Sennas grip horny style is a "true" race driver style .. smooth like modern/ prost is just a by-product of tires/certain cars .. Sennas style that purely seeks grip is what all race drivers deeply wish for .. an ability/skill/talent to find the grip in every corner.. sure kills tires like i mentioned , but you learn the track faster you learn your car faster, your pure pace is higher.. i personally think if FIA did not mandate that tires degrade sooooooo fast they lose pace after 15 laps, then i think Sennas style would be the prominent one rather than "smooth"

    1:12:40 , we can see for some minutes, Prost was faster than Senna, as in most of the races they competed together in F1... ( you can look at their best laps to check it, also you can see every race to check it, as I did...)

    • @hristoitchov
      @hristoitchov Před 9 měsíci +12

      Nonsense. You can only really compare them in the 2 years they were teammates and during that period Senna obliterated Prost most of the time. A random event like this isn't much of a measure of anything, especially considering Senna had far less knowledge of the track and almost no practice, compared to Prost and others.

      @maikcolinnait4641 Před 9 měsíci +14

      @@hristoitchov yes, Prost scored more points than Senna in 88 and 89, so Prost was better. In adition, Prost was better in inferior car, since everybody knew how Senna had 20 engineers around him while Prost had just one engineer on many occasions or maximun 4 engineers in Mclaren. Senna had the best equipment, and Prost beated him. Unique occasion that prost had the Honda engine as he wanted, was France 88. And Prost destroyed Senna on that occasion. Prost, better than Senna, but well, Schumacher was better than Prost and of course than Senna.

    • @hristoitchov

      @@maikcolinnait4641 Judging who's faster or better on points alone doesn't get you far. Both in qualifying and races Senna was quicker than Prost most of the time, often by huge margins. Prost rarely had inferior cars and most of his success is in the best car on the grid. Senna on the other hand only had the best car while he was teammate with Prost. He beat him in 88 and was the deserving champion in 89 if it wasn't for Balestre's interference.
      I don't care for all that bs about the Honda engine, as there is exactly zero proof that Prost was ever sabotaged. They even started assigning random choice of engines for both drivers after Prost complained publicly and Senna still continued to be better than Prost in most of the remaining races.

    • @maikcolinnait4641
      @maikcolinnait4641 Před 9 měsíci +5

      @@hristoitchov I respect your opinion, opinions are welcome. Prost was better than Senna. Points are the tool to compare the best, and Prost of course was the best of both. Even in inferior car. Senna only was succesfull with the super Honda engine, without it , Senna would have been nothing. In the 70´s, Prost would have destroyed Senna, absolutely. Senna was destroyed also by Schumacher, with inferior engine in 92 and 94, and with the same engine half of the season 93, where Schumacher was a total nightmare for Senna. Senna was crazy about Schumacher, and in 1995, Schumacher would have hummilliated Senna in an absolutely brutal way, as Senna was humilliated by schumacher in Barcelona 92 in the rain, and in many other occasions.

    • @hristoitchov
      @hristoitchov Před 9 měsíci +4

      @@maikcolinnait4641You keep calling him better without actually presenting any evidence whatsoever. If he was better, how come during their time together Senna was almost always in front of him in qualifying and had more poles, sometimes by huge margins, how come Senna was almost always ahead of him in most races and won more races than him, how come Senna led more laps than him, etc. etc.? The statistics don't lie. Prost was great, one of the greatest, but Senna was above him.
      Saying Senna was only good because of Honda is ridiculous. He was brilliant regardless of what car he drove, before or during F1. He always had the upper hand on his teammates and he won races in the 2nd 3rd, even 4th fastest car on the grid.
      Schumacher had the better Ford engine for most of 93 and the better car overall in 92. Senna would've easily disposed of him in 94 had he survived, considering even Hill was a title contender. His 3 poles before his death were miraculous, considering how problematic that car was. Just compare how far off Hill was in qualifying and races in those starts. Benetton was obviously better, not to mention they likely used illegal software and had illegal refueling system.
      You can cherry pick episodic moments where Senna wasn't at his best or had issues all you want, but ignoring the rest 99% of his career proves how biased your judgment is.
