  • I have thought a lot about this.
Would I actually recommend people to study pharmacy in 2023? Is it still a worthwhile career?
I explain my thought process in this video.

In shot, you’d recommend pharmacy school because they can end up practicing medicine, that is, they’re going to be thought how to make diagnosis and then they can prescribe. That’s the practice of medicine, what then becomes the difference between medicine and pharmacy if both are diagnosing and prescribing?

pharmacists are masters of medicine so they are highly knowledgeable about a variety of drugs and how they work in the body however although pharmacists are able to diagnose and prescribe certain medication they are not taught in detail how to diagnose and and come to a certain conclusion in what might be causing certain symptoms as well as doctors are able to specially if this is a complex or serious health issue. this is why pharmacists are only allowed to prescribe certain drugs and any complex diseases are not dealt by pharmacists but are referred to doctors so they can get a more accurate diagnosis.

The government wants a significant proportion of the work the doctors do to move to the pharmacist role so it can be done for far less money. The narrator seems pretty ok with £40-£45 K per annum so this is a ‘genius’ move by government

Could you make a video explaining more in depth about a pharmacist being able to prescibe and the steps to take? I want to be able to prescibe to patients when needed, however i never thought it was possible? Ive been a tech for over 10 years and working towards my pharmD, but i was never given that information besides we are another definition as a chemist

Hi, I'm a student about to start pharmacy this year and I'm choosing a uni right now. I've got an offer from the University of Leicester for their new mpharm programme which is quite different to other ones. Can you do a pros/cons video for it and if you'd recommend it?

Do optom, seriously. The money is wayy better, and its 1 year less than Mpharm so less debt and its easier overall (still tough). I left my pharmacy career for a corporate job in technology and graduated around the same time as this video poster. Pharmacy in UK is depressing and a dead-end,

Whether to be a pharmacist or not is your decision but I be aware that a lot of pharmacies have closed and more stores are predicted to close . Salaries gone down but responsibility and number of services gone up . And to top it all off there are not many jobs left .I don’t want to put anybody off studying pharmacy but it is helpful sometimes to know the reality .
