- Heyoo! Here is Part One of ...many of my Japan Vlogs! We start off at an Onsen in Arashiyama and then go off to the most beautiful sites ever - just a couple casual shrines and a castle. No big deal. Watch out for the second Kyoto vlog comin' up quick and then the Tokyo vlog, and then the Tokyo DISNEYSEA vlog... yeah, this trip was no joke.

I love how you didn't just go straight to Tokyo and wandered aimlessly around not trying to make any effort to learn about the culture like some of your fellow youtubers 🍵🍵🍵🍵 and even though I'm half Japanese I learned a bunch by watching this thank u x cannot wait for more!

In case Steph doesn't make a video, here are a few tips from someone who has gone to Japan several times!
Pocket wifi, google maps and google translate. Google translate isn't always the best, but if it gives you the option to take pictures of things like menus or signs and will give u translation. This app helps a lot with restaurants that don't have English menus, but a lot of them will! All you have to do is ask. There are a lot of officers around Japan in certain areas and always lots of people working at the train or subway stations, so whenever I had trouble finding a place through Google Maps, I would ask them. Many of them speak no English, but if you just name the place or show them where you want to go to, they will give you directions. Learning basic phrases and always having google translate on you to show Japanese people what you are trying to say is always very helpful too. There are lots of apps too like Travel Japan Wifi and TOEI Bus and Subway apps that make traveling in Japan super easy. All the ticket machines I've been to in Tokyo and Osaka and Kyoto have had an English option on them, so that helps also!
In terms of where to stay, use Airbnb! or you can always grab a hotel if you're not on a tight budget. You have to keep in mind, Japan is a rather quiet country, so if you're staying at an Airbnb aka someone's home, then you need to be careful not too be too loud or you can face the possibility of getting kicked out by the apartment management lol.
Honestly though, Airbnb and a pocket wifi are your best friend. Many Airbnb's in Japan will provide you with a pocket wifi too, so it is always a good idea to get an airbnb. A pocket wifi is a portable wifi device, so you can use it in the home and while you're out exploring!

Haven't been back for over 2 years... Stuck in California, but the funny thing is everyone in Japan wish they could escape Japan and come to USA!!! They'll find good things about Japan once they leave the country.

Crazy timing, I was just looking at some of my old pictures when I was in Kyoto. It was such a beautiful place and one of my most memorable trips. I hope I have an opportunity to go back someday. Hope you enjoyed your time there!

TokiYuYu there are so many onsens in tokyo, but yes, i would definitely recommend kyoto 100%!

I was in Japan (my first time too!) a week before you arrived!! Ack it would've been so awesome to bump into you ^_^ Your vlog made me is Japan all over again. I love love love Japan. I decided to split my vlog about my Japan trip into 5 parts because I just couldn't bear to not use all of the footage I got.. I love spotting the similiarities and differences in our trip :) It only proves that there are many reasons to go back there :)

Welcome to Japan! I'm a big fun of your vlog. I'm so HAPPY that you're in Japan ;) Just for your reference, one of my favorite sightseeing route in Tokyo is Tsukiji fish market → Hamarikyu park → taking ferry to Asakusa. If you like desital art, I highly recommend an exhibit called "The universe and art" at the Roppongi hills. You could see the latest exhibit by Team Lab there. Enjoy!!!
