- On the 6th off July 2016 m/v Hollandia loaded almost a full cargo of woodchips in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Good to see, as I had proposed this load out in the 1980s for a Wood Chip contract with an Italian Paper company.But the government of that day Rejected it!

This shiploader is very slow, you should see the 3 shiploaders from Paranaguá Port Brazil, the biggest port of grain export in the world. It's impressive.

Of corse a ship to that port with specialized equipment would be faster. This is a mixed cargo ship with lots of fluffy chips. You don’t really need to compact grain. Sure it does settle but that wouldn’t make lots of difference. They are limited on their conveyor movement too it looks like.
The guy on the left was faster, he had time to go out get fuel and back..twice 🤣

So kudos to those working there - any small fire 🔥 spark would make that boat a bomb in mins - they are brave and disciplined souls and each execution is a safety hazard. Wishing for them long life and no events .

These woodchips are used to fuel a power plant of a factory. For paper production you need a different wood product called wood pulp.

Try the material route for wood chips to power the Drax Power Station here in the UK, converted from coal to 'bio fuel'. 'Drax Power' had to build wood processing plants abroad to supply over 1M tons/year, it's horrendous to be honest. But 'Green'.

Yes that was done in 1 day. The total weight was about 4500 metric tonnes if I remember it correctly.
