I've recently rediscovered my obsession with Pokemon from my early childhood, (I was four when they were released here in the U.S.,) so, LOTS of Pokemon videos lately, anyways, I enjoy your Nintendo 101 stuff & despite knowing the majority of this due to WAY too much free time, it was still fun to watch & I wasn't bored. People tell me "what? Its black and white and the pokemon doesn't move at all! That sucks!" That really triggers me
Subscribed. I'm a major fan of Nintendo, but got a little late into it. I played Mario at a friend's, but my first Pokémon wasn't any version earlier than Pokémon Sapphire, which I got at the age of 9. Although I've played the earlier games later on, and know a lot about the history, it's fun to hear you telling it. And another plus, you don't swear, which makes you enjoyable to listen to.
Thank you for doing this. I'm looking forward to see your Nintendo 101's about later versions of Pokémon.

I realized a while ago that the song that plays after you leave home in Pokemon (Blue, Red, Green and Yellow) is a 8-bit rendition of the old song "Polly wadda doodle".

Pokemon Gold was my second Pokemon game. I grew up with that too. Good memories, I remember every little detail.

Pokemon Red was one of my first video games and basically the game that got me rally into games. Playing this game for the first time was magical for me. Going into Pokemon without really knowing anything about it just gives a great experience of bonding with these creatures. Seeing my Charmander evolve into Charmeleon and then Charizard was insane for me, and I loved the fact that I didn't know when Pokemon were going to evolve or what they would turn into. Correction: HM moves actually CANNOT be forgotten in Red/Blue themselves, only by beating the gym leader castle in Pokemon Stadium. besides that, good video!

I used to love this game as a kid. One thing stand out in my memory, running around in safari zone trying to catch Scyther! He was so cool and rare, It never happend tho lol.
At the start when he was talking about how Pokemon was the first screen he saw on a Nintendo system? It's the intro music for pokemon red/blue.

I so miss this time. Seriously do. I loved Pokémon back in the day when I was 7 years old and touched it for the first time. Played it everywhere, from home to school. It was so awesome. Yet when I look at it back now, there was SO much things missing. I think if I would play it again, I would totally hate it now, I'm spoiled like crazy xD

Great video. It made me realize that Pokemon was a jrpg that didn't do instantaneous damage.
but see, I mean, at least for me, watching that health bar go down so slowly with my fist clinched and repeatedly saying to myself "come on, come on, come on" is one of my favorite feelings about fighting the Elite Four and the other tougher-than-usual trainers.
