    AWESOME review!! Thank you! Just got my ZV-1 and I'm excited to start using it!

    Thanks for the robust review and beautiful footage. I’m buying one for creating content for music videos, behind the scenes of my scoring sessions, etc. I owned the Sony RX100 years ago and have loved this series of cameras. Thanks again :)

      Thanks Jonathan, glad you liked the video, yes I think for that kind of thing it will be perfect and if you've used the RX100 this is a nice step up. One issue we've had is the footage, now live has gone very redish tones... not sure if it's a CZcams or HLG thing, but looking into it!

    Nice video! Another option for stabilisation is to set all camera in-stabilisation off! Load your footage in the free Sony 'Catalyst Browse' and you can add and/or adjust stabilisation afterwards. This software using the gyroscopes information from the camera doing a better job as in the normal video editing software. Export after your settings and import tot FCP, Premiere, Avid etc. An extra step yes but worth it I think

      I was actually going to ask why is your face so red? That's like back to the bad old days of Sony colour :) My RX10 with the older Sony 1" sensor doesn't look like that. Active stabilisation looks quite good, normal stabilisation not so much. I'm guessing the biggest advantage with the A6400 will be the shallower depth of field you can get. Had to laugh when you said "A6400 is a much bigger camera with bigger lens". All relative I guess.

    • @mondotv4216
      @mondotv4216 Před 4 lety

    I have the 6400 and it has been a great camera to vlog in, talking head, and b-roll. I’m looking into the Zv-1 to have a more portable, convenient, compact camera, but yet also higher quality than my iPhone.
    Do you think it is worth the purchase or should I save my money to purchase a full frame camera? (Like the a7c)
    PS: i already have a full frame lens I’ve been using for my 6400 so I wouldn’t need to buy one for the potential new full frame camera.

    • @editorskeys
      @editorskeys  Před 3 lety

      Hey Joshua.... great question. So I had the A6400 and the Sony ZV1 and now have the ZV1 and the A7Siii. I would say go for the A7C, it's a great camera and resolve most of the issues I had with the A6400. The ZV1 is good as a smaller travel camera, but to be honest I'm thinking of selling that and using the iPhone and Filmic Pro for B-Roll

  • @OurSwissAdventure
    @OurSwissAdventure Před 2 lety

    Thanks for a review! I feel like for a vlogging camera it's waay too shaky when you are filming yourself. Also the face doesn't look as sharp as it could be (if you compare it to the other shots that you filmed which were not of you).

    • @editorskeys
      @editorskeys  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey I think for Basketball it would go out of focus a lot so I would recommend switching to manual focus, that way most players with be in focus. I think Autofocus would be quite hard for the camera as players would constantly be stepping in front of each other.

    • @editorskeys
      @editorskeys  Před 4 lety +2

      Hey Matthias, great question. So I mean if you hit record, even though there is not a recording limited, the battery will die after one hour. (Yes if you plug it his into a battery pack or wall power it will keep going.) Hope this helps. I used the ZV1 has a webcam for a 2 hour call and it worked perfectly plugged in.

    • @editorskeys

      It would look pretty poor to be honest.. I would switch to the 250fps or 500fps for better quality and it would still look ace! The 1000 fps just seems very pixelated. Would you need to check out gold swings or for a promo video?

      @@editorskeys I think it's the bright ceiling lights in my room. Anything above 1/125 shutter speed when recording video will show line two separated lines bars that slowly move up the screen. I just want to make sure that my new ZV1 isn't defective. I'm trying to figure out other ways to test this. So I tested this problem by turning off all the lights in my room and attaching a camera light and began recording. The results were good, I couldn't cause the horizontal banding lines to appear at all, so I take that test as good news

    The advantage of using a stills camera over a video camera is down to one thing - picture quality. This Sony ZV1 camera just doesn't have it. Get a reasonably priced little video camera for convenience (which has mic input, headphone output, at least 10X zoom, physical stabilization, long battery life etc.) or a good mirrorless SLR for remarkable picture quality and genuine Boke. Love my Fuji T20.

  • @richardhedderly

    OK, so whilst the review was very thorough, the ZV1 doesn't impress.
    From the moment you changed from the A6400 to the ZV1 you can see that the crispness of the image isn't great. I thought it was a low light issue but it's still there on the daylight test outside the Tudor building.
    It's not just from your footage. On other reviews from others, it's the same. It's just not sharp.
    It's an impressive feature set but ruined by ropey output.

    • @editorskeys
      @editorskeys  Před 4 lety +1

      @richardhedderly Před 4 lety

      @@editorskeys Hi, yes I did look at 4K. For a test, I looked at your eyes as the change from A6400 to the ZV1 happened. You can see on the A6400 that your eyes are in perfect focus, there are no aborations. The ZV1 focusing looks like it's working as described but it doesn't look like it's bang on.
      Sure it's half the price but I've used cameras with better focusing over decades that are cheaper comparitively.
