Watched this band open for Mastodon in Glasgow, Scotland. They only had a 4 track set list but fuck me they left their mark with those 4 songs. Incredible.
This band is so freaking underrated. The bass at 1:13 or 7:20 never fails to make me groan in satisfaction (not kidding) and the drums.. don't even get me started on the drums - so diverse and powerful. And then the guitars come around and wrap it up into a nice bundle of perfection with these complex layers of beautiful, yet sometimes so eerie and dark melodies.
777Dubliner imho puscifer was more my thing, check out Anup Sastry or Plini or Jakub Zyteki for really tight drumming (Sastry) and amazing drum programming.
@@icemike874 Enter was eerie and kind of isolationist, Station was very up front but sort of still surpassed, this one was war-like and oppressive, Empros was more on the darker side, more tense and distressed, Memorial was more on the atmospheric and relaxed side, Blood Year was very dark and edgy, with this lost-in-the-woods-but-there's-literally-no-sound type mindset, and Gnosis so far for me is very much a mix of all of the above with a bleak, post apocalyptic kind of edge.
For the listeners on mobile phone : 1. "Fathom" 00:00 2. "Geneva" 04:55 3. "Melee" 10:37 4. "Hexed All" 18:26 5. "Malko" 22:55 6. "When the Mountain Comes to Muhammad" 27:35 7. "Philos" 35:38
I recently discovered Russian circles and what is called post rock and I'm a little more than amazed by this music... It mesmerizes my mind and all I can think about is the Arctic and northern lights, ice as far as the eye can see and glaciers and sea and a strong feeling of freedom and connection to the planet at the same time... Sounds bizarre but it's all I can say to describe the emotions the music is triggering...
last time I saw this band live some hipster geek face was videoing them on his iphone, things got lively in the crowd and his phone fell, shattered. He picked it up and looked devastated, and left.
People that record the concerts with their phones kind of break down the mood for me when in the field (not sure if _field_ is the right word for it in English). But I'd feel bad for him, honestly.
Cristian Sosa I record the concerts I go to most of the time for friends/family that didn't get to see the show. But I'm not one of those dicks that stare at the screen the whole time and constantly make changes, I leave it in one spot and watch the show while it records.
Cristian Sosa It bothers the hell out of me too. You paid to experience the artists performing live music. You can't relive an experience. Video can never capture that. All you end up with is shaky footage with horrible audio anyhow, so it's pretty much a waste of time.
All Them Witches is an amazingly underrated band. Dying Surfer Meets His Maker is incredible. I can't ever get sick of listening to that album. It is literally one of the top five albums ever, in my opinion. I just heard Russian Circles on KEXP and that's what brought me here. Good to see other people on here with similar tastes.
It's like a gathering storm, pulsing and ebbing from a center of massive power. Light and sound emanating from a violent epicenter of energy and chaos. Gushes of wind and thunder assaulting my senses and building to an overwhelming climax of a rhythm that matches my own so well I could linger in a stupor for eternities, only to wake intermittently to a vaguely familiar consciousness both aware and unaware of itself.
Every freakin album takes me for a nice ride .. soft spot for this one as this was the first album I listened to from them, and did it in one take. You know something is good when you listen, LISTEN to it all the way through once, then you do it again right after that.
Here I am, back to this album. No matter who I end up listening to ... Dakota/Dakota (this guitarist and the old bassist's band) was refreshing, Botch (this bassist's old band) and These Arms Are Snakes (again, Brian Cook) were frightfully incredible, Minus The Bear has always been a huge favorite of mine but I've never really found a band quite like Russian Circles, I come back day after day to listen to every one of their albums, all the way up to Memorial everything's absolute brilliance.
Giorgio Tsoukalos I recommend Pelican, Dakota/Dakota (this guitarist and the bassist from their first album), Converge, pageninetynine, Botch, Red Sparowes or These Arms Are Snakes (also Brian Cook).
Discovered these guys with that album. At first I didn't like it, station and memmorial were my favourites. Now I'm getting back on this one and I believe it's their best one so far. Truly masterfull, they got a lil something in their sound that puts them one step above the other big bands of that genre !
I know what you mean. These guys were my first foray into this type of music over a decade ago. I've listened to others, but they just don't compare to Russian Circles.
Amazing... I can't even really say anything else. I just listened to the first three songs and already feel as if I've been somewhere profound. Buying this.
saw that show in AZ, exact same sentiments. Had never heard of these guys, they were freaking amazing, came home and came here. They were as electric as coheed on stage which, if you have ever been to a coheed show, you know that is an incredible feat
I suppose that is implied that-that is all you like? shame, this is great music -actuatlly looks like the dump town I live in funnily enough -thats wat I was thinking
Upon hearing Russian Circles back in 2014 (or earlier), they welcomed anyone into their world of music and in a way: honouring them of taking it with us for our journeys in life; first time heard of Fathom on a trailer for Dead Space 2. Good times.
Falling asleep to this is something else. It makes me sleep well every single time. In the past week..Ive done it 4 times... Needs to be a common occurrence for my nightly matters.
what a journey of sound an feeling of devotion. couldnt put words to make a album makes it more amibent sound. like your in a ampitheater. dig it. cheers
Music like this is truly amazing. Listen to this album as a whole and you experience an entire array of feelings and emotions. It sometimes makes me feel good and grateful yet somewhat sad at the same time. The most powerful thing about it, is that it calmes my mind =) Cheers
Si no los conoces ya, puede que también te gusten Pelican (Australasia, What we all come to need, etc) e Isis (Celestial, Oceanic, Panopticon, etc). Tienen bastante en común con Russian Circles.
Stations was their 1st album I heard. Didn't know Russian Circles made so much music. Psychedelic rock is the best. 👍 😊 Reminds me of the band Masarati.
I'm listening this record for the first time ever. Not long ago I discovered Bands like GY!BE, Maybeshewill, God is an Astronaut, Mogwai and today I found this beauty ! I'm a fan of Punk, Rock, Hardcore, Seattle based Bands ( Pearl Jam, Soundgarden,...) etc and I never could stand music without Lyrics/Singing. Until three months ago, I started to listen to more and more "post-Rock" bands. It's like it's the right "genre" for me in this period of my life
Watched this band open for Mastodon in Glasgow, Scotland. They only had a 4 track set list but fuck me they left their mark with those 4 songs. Incredible.
Actually they're more and more interesting than Mastodon....
+.rzr I'm not even sure how I stumbled upon Russian Circles, but I'm glad I did.
this drummer is absolutely brilliant and primal on every album without fail.
777Dubliner imho puscifer was more my thing, check out Anup Sastry or Plini or Jakub Zyteki for really tight drumming (Sastry) and amazing drum programming.
+.rzr theyre not even underrated. just a smaller market.
Ryan Welch
Well yes, I guess I worded it poorly. What I tried to say is that they are not nearly as known as they deserve to be in my opinion.
My favourite album of theirs keeps changing. This week it's this one.
This is very relatable haha
What others do you recommend 🤔
Every album is my favourite

oh i like this! damn heavy and no singer contaminating the awesome music!
3 truly incredible musicians
last time I saw this band live some hipster geek face was videoing them on his iphone, things got lively in the crowd and his phone fell, shattered. He picked it up and looked devastated, and left.
LoL, he was like "dammit now how am I suppose to watch the concert? The screen is broken"

***** I guess if you're self conscious about that sort of thing, I never think about who's filming when I'm at live gigs.
love the lyrics!
Very meaningful.
Yes, I keep hearing all the perfect places for lyrics to be, and then there aren't any.
luke666808g I think that is especially is where the beauty lies in their music.
***** Dakota/Dakota (this guitarist and their bassist on Enter) was instrumental and amazing in a whole different way than this.
" "
Turncrantz is such a beast. There are more slick drum fills in one song than most bands can fit in an entire album
Saw these guys live and got extraordinarily high. It was an excellent decision.
Love that drumming
I agree, he really knows how to groove. If you want to hear another really good drummer I'd recommend giving a go at All them Witches.
All Them Witches is an amazingly underrated band. Dying Surfer Meets His Maker is incredible. I can't ever get sick of listening to that album. Catter Peener This is like the most vivid eloquent review ever
DUDE. CHILL.
You played too much video games mate.
The bass here is verry impressive!
I never get enough of this. So beautiful, so divine. It's a music from another planet.
Thank you Russian Circles!!!! Yours musics open my mind for New Universe!!!!

That bass tone...wow.
love the bass lines
Giorgio Tsoukalos Brian Cook from Botch.
Bearded Rizz ty its good
Giorgio Tsoukalos I recommend Pelican, Dakota/Dakota (this guitarist and the bassist from their first album), Converge, pageninetynine, Botch, Red Sparowes or These Arms Are Snakes (also Brian Cook).
Bearded Rizz weird coz it looks a lot like Geneva's airport (i'm from geneva)
Alex C it is I think, I wouldn't know.

Damn, I love that grunting pig of a bassline on "Geneva"!
One of my alltime favorite albums.
7:18, from out of no where. Soooo good.
This and Station!! Masterpieces!!!!!
just saw these guys in Houston. great show!
you are so lucky!!!
fantastic album. every moment is engaging.
This is one of the few bands that i can honestly say i like pretty much every song ive heard by them. keep this shit up!!!
I just love this band! The singer is amazing!!
lol thank you for that!
still makes me forget to breathe, shake like a leaf, lose myself to fantasies of flight and boss fighting
i fucking love this album
This album and Station are absolutely stunning!
Amazing... I can't even really say anything else. I just listened to the first three songs and already feel as if I've been somewhere profound. Buying this.
I had the same experience !
saw that show in AZ, exact same sentiments. Had never heard of these guys, they were freaking amazing, came home and came here. They were as electric as coheed on stage which, if you have ever been to a coheed show, you know that is an incredible feat
Love this. Glad I discovered them.
I like the cover image and font they used.
3 years late, but i agree with you man, a very nice cover indeed!
I suppose that is implied that-that is all you like? shame, this is great music -actuatlly looks like the dump town I live in funnily enough -thats wat I was thinking
I read this like Captain Holt from Brooklyn Nine-Nine ... idk why?
Upon hearing Russian Circles back in 2014 (or earlier), they welcomed anyone into their world of music and in a way: honouring them of taking it with us for our journeys in life; first time heard of Fathom on a trailer for Dead Space 2. Good times.
I have been playing this song every evening for the past six months. It helps me focus.
came across this while searching for something completely different and i love it
Again, finding myself in the same position ... listening in shock and awe at the great trio that is Russian Circles.
This is definitely in my top 5 albums of all time. So glad someone uploaded the whole album in one video.
Dave Turncrantz is legendary.
Falling asleep to this is something else. It makes me sleep well every single time. In the past week..Ive done it 4 times... Needs to be a common occurrence for my nightly matters.
oh my god, im on a random video spree,
10 videos in and ive found 10 amazing new bands.

Great reflective album this third.
Nice original channel. Glad I found it.
one of my most contagious records ever.love russian circles.
So much overdrive the bass sounds like a synth, love it!
what a journey of sound an feeling of devotion. couldnt put words to make a album makes it more amibent sound. like your in a ampitheater. dig it. cheers
So glad my friend got me into this band! They're so damn amazing and quite refreshing to listen to

Just peace to my ears.
Immense, epic and full of emotion. No more needs to be said.
What an album!! How am I only finding out about these guys now? :O
:D
had the pleasure of seeing these last night. it was like the sound you would expect to hear as the sun burnt itself out. beautifully apocalyptic
Thanks mate! This is fantastic!
very cool. thanks for sharing!
Never heard this before...except in my delirium, on the way back to Wasco.
I can't believe how good this album is. I'm going to see RC in Glasgow, Scotland, this month. Can't wait.
Amazing, amazing band!
Music like this is truly amazing. Listen to this album as a whole and you experience an entire array of feelings and emotions. It sometimes makes me feel good and grateful yet somewhat sad at the same time. The most powerful thing about it, is that it calmes my mind =) Cheers

+Bearded Rizz That part is amazing...
+Bearded Rizz Holy shit. No wonder why I thought it had a Botch sound.
+Murderotica check out These Arms Are Snakes (another era Cook band) and Dakota/Dakota (Russian Circles with the Enter bassist and another drummer).
I've heard of TAAS but never listened to them. I'll check those out! Thanks man. Phenomenal musicians.
+Murderotica absolutely.
Nuevo sub Marcelito!
Tienes el mejor contenido musical para mí gusto...saludos de México compadre 🤘
this is .. music finally ** enjoying life with **
esto es lo que buscaba desde hacia muchísimo tiempo, una música así, me transmite mucho este estilo
Si no los conoces ya, puede que también te gusten Pelican (Australasia, What we all come to need, etc) e Isis (Celestial, Oceanic, Panopticon, etc). Tienen bastante en común con Russian Circles.
los he escuchado alguna vez jeje gracias
Thank you linda.
Stations was their 1st album I heard. Didn't know Russian Circles made so much music. Psychedelic rock is the best. 👍 😊 Reminds me of the band Masarati.
whats weird is i didn't 'get' this band until i read that. thank you.
simple and elegant!!
Speechless........
Someone needs to come over and massage my neck after all this headbanging.
Man, you're great! Wow, this is fucking good.
We need to listen to these men a bit about what they would ever have to say.
I found a new band to obsess over. They're called Russian Circles.
Really nice.
Drums. Wow.
Such snare
Many hi hat
Saw this band Open up at the Coheed show in Seattle. Amazing
Best of their work in my opinion. The bass is so dirty!

Epic Album!
Philos is simply the greatest piece of music in all of human history
nah, it has to be malko. something to get you pumped up whilst cycling in a monsoon! although good choice of album ;-)
John Ridley could you even go cycling in a monsoon?
Philos!
i love this
I know, it's so interesting and leaves a lot of room for interpretation. And most importantly, the music is fucking fantastic as well.
Damn dude I bet that was one hell of a ride.
epic office building album art
