RJ is such a main character😭😭and Jin would bring RJ around everywhere, either as a plushy or pillow or like on a key ring/chain. Several celebrities have also been seen with Chimmy or Koya products, it's all really cool!! IRL, i've seen a few people use BT21 products without knowing it was by BTS, but before that it was a great way to detect another army👀

BT21 is so famous nowadays, even more than BTS sometimes lol, because they have makeup, skincare and stuff, and sometimes people buys it without even knowing it's related to BTS, just buy it because it's cute!! Jin has promoted RJ consistently ever since they did this lol, he wears the pajamas, he uses the RJ phone case, he carries RJ as a plushie during tours, this boy really did a lot of promo and now RJ is famous like his dad lmao
BT21 started as just characters for emoticons to the LINE friends that is a message app, and then now they have like plushies, keyrings, phone cases and they even have like a CZcams channel and they are really like animation with voices and stuff, they also "debuted" last month i think and they sang and rapped, and it was actually a banger tbh 😂 they also have short video telling their stories before they got together!! And BTS reacted to it too, hope you can watch it all, it would be so cool and funny!!
Fun fact, Seokjin has been drawing a version of RJ for years prior to BT21. He also had a pink Alpaca that was fairly infamous. And then there was the 2016 (I think it was) April fools twitter "fight" with Namjoon where Seokjin changed there official page to pics of sand foxes saying Namjoon had the same expression, so in retaliation Namjoon changed it to alpacas saying Seokjin looked like one 🤣🤣
Also one of my favourite sound bites is Seokjin trying to pronounce 'alpaca parka' 🤣🤣He's so adorable.

BT21 is everywhere! I kept seeing them all the time before I was even a fan. Then when I did become a fan and found out BTS created them I was shookt.

We always joke the only group more popular than BTS are BT21. But TinyTan are also really gaining in popularity and are getting new releases that are unfortunatly only available in US and Japan; while BT21 is older and available EVERYWHERE

Omg! Yay!! Thanks for this! There is also a whole story line on their channel of a whole BT21 story. It’s animated and there’s also behind the scenes video of the members creating the storylines and reacting to the episodes. I really suggest watching the whole BT21 episodes on CZcams before watching the members behind the scenes and react to the episodes cuz it gives a few spoilers. It’s so funny and cute. It shows more of what the members meant like V and his alien TaTa.

Love all of the designs but I’m partial to Chimmy and RJ, they’re just too cute! Also RJ has a little brother RK, that’s basically like a baby JK, it’s even cuter!

The last main merch of RJ took only 9 secs to get sold out. BT21 spreaded so much that it is more than now just part of BTS. They have their collaboration, they have their own shops and stuff people think it's trendy. Also they are the only group I stan after BTS. I believe they may or may not have surpassed them too..idk

I have a couple of things with BR21, my favorite one is RJ. I also like how Jin uses RJ’s merch a lot, he even travelled with a plush toy during their last long tour. And you could also see him bringing RJ’s pillow for In the Soop (not sure, probably in season 2).

I have a lot of BT21, I bought all 8 character for every item, 8 BT21 pens, 8 of the 11.5cm cushions, 8 keychains and 8 Bagcharms.
And Jin's RJ is always the first to sell out 💜💜💜
Also, particularly, i love the uniqueness of TATA, Taehyung was so right with what he said!! I also really like Chimmy and Cooky too!!! I love all of them but i found these three so cute!!

Taehyung's prediction that Tata is gonna be the most popular one was kinda right! Especially early on that character was sold out everywhere lol. I remember going to store to buy them and for some reason only Tata was sold out and I was so sad lol

When I went to LA for BTS’ concert, my friends and I went to the LINE store to buy BT21 merch and the line was literally around the city block and it took us almost 4 hours to get into the store. The store was on Hollywood blvd and people walking by kept asking what the line was for and people would say “BTS” and they’d go “oh that’s why the line is so long-BTS is here” and then we’d be like, “no, we’re l waiting to buy plushies and key chains of characters they designed…” haha. Mang is my favorite and then RJ and Koya but I have a couple of each. But I have so much Mang stuff and even have a tattoo of Mang on my calf. RJ is the most popular. So much so that the LINE Store will do pre-releases of RJ and even gave Jin a life size version.

I think the popularity of the characters are different in each country bcs where I live I see lots of ppl with Tata plushies, Keychains and stuff but I can see why others may say RJ is a big thing specially in East Asia but in the U.S Cooky merch is always outsold.
Actually in the Bon Voyage in Malta, you guys just watched, they use a lot of BT21 stuffs. For example, their cute pajamas that they use often in that bon voyage are their own BT21 character. and you will see Jin carrying around RJ (his character) plushie a lot, everywhere. In 2017, the line store opened in NY Times square, so it is pretty popular amongst ARMY in America. Line friends are pretty big as they are related to a chatting platform that is predominantly used in Korea. Line have a lot of stores, and I once went to the one in Korea, it was very cute, and there are a lot of other iconic Line characters like Ryan (used to be RM's favourite).
My personal fav is cooky, cause it's pink and it's cute, I bought a cooky laptop bag and keychain back when i visit korea, i use it everyday to class now. Also, in the part 2, they will make storylines for each character, and it becomes an animation that u can found on youtube now.

Tata and chimmy and cooky are my favorites 🥺 . Here in south Algeria Tata and Cooky are the only characters you can find in stores I feel lucky cuz tae and jk are my biases

I'm an OT7. I equally love all Bts members. however, I have a bias in BT21. And that's Mang. Jhope's character. I love how it came to be and how much effort he put into it. Also, his reasoning for drawing a horse is what made Mang my instant favorite.
I love Mang maybe because it's purple too. I have a mouse and slippers.

My friends know BT21, but they didn't know that the characters created by BTS. They hates BTS, when I said BT21 is related to BTS, they laughed says I'm a delusional.

I'm sorry. I couldn't help but laugh when Stephanie said, "I bet at least one of you has all of them..." Probably all of us? And multiple, multiple versions - plushies, socks, shirts, slides, pillows, computer mouses, earbuds, dog collars, utensils, toothbrushes, etc... the list goes on forever. Imagine it...and there's a BT21 product for it. I personally have all of them tattooed around my right ankle. All done by different artists so it follows the idea. The first one I got was Chimmy after the Love Yourself concert in Ft. Worth in 2018. It was peer pressure. I'm not a cutesy person. But I liked it. Then I slowly got the rest from Trader Bob's in St.Louis.
LINE FRIENDS has a store in Times Square and in Hollywood now, I think, if you guys ever travel to New York or LA you might wanna visit there lol, the ones I've been to in Korea have a big BT21 theme

BT21 has a WHOLE STORY LINE OF THEIR OWN
In Asian cultures, calling someone a "horse" or a "horse face" is an insult cos it basically represents a long, unattractive face. Back then people used to hate on Hobi calling him "J-horse", mocking his looks and saying it does not fit the Korean beauty standards. The reason for Jhope to pick Mang is quite personal and emotional. Mang wears a mask just like jhope did during their debut days (he wore a heavy mask covering his face in the "No more dream" MV) . He once even left the company because of all the hate he received. That's the underlying reason why he said he wants to change the stereotype around horses as they are beautiful creatures. You'll find many other instances where he then referred to himself as"J-horse" while laughing and smiling cos he wanted to turn it around into something light-hearted and not negative.
He almost left before debut. He didn't actually leave though. RM almost did as well.
It was so much fun to re-watch this with you guys. Looking forward to hopefully watching the following seasons of BT21 with you. I also recommend their Cookie Run Kingdom episodes, where they develop their kingdoms etc. (There is 2) and their BTS in the Seom episodes where they help develop their game. P.s TaeTae is pronounced TeTe (different to when it’s just one Tae which is pronounced as you do normally: like Tay.) The BT21 character name here though ended up being TATA (like the sound used in Tap.)

RJ is my BT21 bias. RJ is so cute! Cooky is my second favorite and then TaTa. I think it's absolutely hilarious that all Suga really managed to do was draw a face, so they put a circle around it and said, "It's a cookie!" Shooky is my mother's favorite, lol. And I think Shooky is the absolute cutest in costumes, like when they made Tiger Shooky for year of the tiger, or Rabbit Shooky for year of the rabbit.
bt21 are so popular you'd see even non-armys have them.. to me tata and chimmy are the most adorable but i also love koya so much, i have rj as my keychain 🥺 they also did universe 2 where they gave background stories to the characters and then another time to develop the overall story even more they'll also be so fun to watch!! oh and they also started giving them voices and they even debuted as a group with a song "would you" it's so fun 😂

I had to pause and say when they were telling Tae that no one would use Tata (His character) even as a free emoticon, they truly underestimate the misfits out here. XD I have a hoard of Tata that amazes even me. To me he's a special character because he thinks and talks different and is an alien trying to fit in with the others and that's how I feel. He also changes his shape to suit/help the others, which to me makes me think of when I'm masking.
Also my 2nd fav is Mang for similar reasons.
Also even before BT21, I was a fan of the messenger Line and the main characters of Line Friends such as Brown, Sally, Moon, ect. so it does have some reach, but you're right in that it isn't very common outside of Asian based cultures

I'm SO happy you two are doing this series! I love bt21 so much. I think it's the most creative thing a music artist created and made into a brand. And for it to still be doing so well. I love it so much.
They really did Suga's dirty by making his drawing into a cooky. It's like they just made it an extra character even tho Suga said he wanted it to be like Holly (His dog). But I guess they decided not to make it a dog since Chimmy is already a dog... I wish they made Suga's into something else tho like a bird etc. Something unique maybe. Right now it's just a brown circle with a face, arms and legs..... But yeah Suga liked it so at least there's that.

BT21 is like the bestselling LINE characters. I collect them too. My favorites are Cooky and Chimmy. I remember wearing my Cooky hoodie at work one time and everybody wants to steal it, they don’t know it’s related to BTS. You should check out their dance performance where they wore their characters, so cute! I think it’s Anpanman for Festa.
