This brought back warm memories of a happy 2019 jaunt to Arranmore, Craig, the treat of a sail on the MORVERN being a bonus - I never got aboard her in her CalMac days. She was fortunate to survive earlier service on another Irish passage - for a period she lay unloved and derelict - and was significantly lengthened for her Arranmore revival: as the first pair of the 'Daft Ducks' to be built, she and the KILBRANNAN turned out to be just a little too short.
That’s great Johnny, glad you enjoyed it! Didn’t know about the lengthening either, great to know! Lovely to see the island class live on as the Scottish islands have proven to need larger drive through boats!
How kind of you, Craig. From my 2019 jaunt, one could - if one knew - see the 'join' where the revived MORVERN had been lengthened. (As well as where, like all that 8-strong class, she had once sported a deck-turntable - these were all removed from the 'Daft Ducks' in the early Nineties, to reduce 'deadweight' under new MCA regulations.) It is strange KILBRANNAN and MORVERN were never lengthened by CalMac; perhaps their bad 1973 experience with the lengthened 1964 CLANSMAN was a factor. Anyway, I am looking forward to watching more of your 'slow TV' - amidst recent bereavement, it is indescribably soothing. And my kind regards to your poised lady-wife!!!@@craig.bryant
I haven’t got my head around inflation yet. In retrospect €15 isn’t too bad, I’m just comparing it to CalMac prices for equivalent distances like Largs-Isle of Cumbrae!
Cracking video Craig. It was steaming in to dock!
Haha thanks Ben!
I have been to Arranmore island. My dad was from there. And my mom’s parents also.
It’s a lovely place, I need to visit properly next time I’m in Donegal!
Thanks so much for was brilliant to watch 🎉enjoy 😊
Thank you Nora, glad you enjoyed it! 😊

@@johnnycroftersorry to hear about your bereavement - will be praying for you mate! All the best
€15 you regard as expensive! It's very reasonable.
